Hi all. I've been having this problem for along time now, and after looking around for a few weeks, I can't seem to find a thread describing the same thing that I have. P.S Mind the spelling, I'm dyslexic lol.

Okay so. Certain routes won't load, it doesn't matter if I try to load them in Quick drive, career or scenario mode.

When I try to load a route, for example the Liverpool - Manchester route, all of the HUD disappears except the three buttons in the top right, which I can click on, and they take me to their menus.
When the HUD goes I'm left with the standard background picture of the three trains, I was thinking that maybe it's just loading before giving me the actual loading screen and bar, but after leaving it for 20mins it still hadn't done anything. I'm getting around 2000fps on that screen and task manager isn't saying that the program is 'Not Responding'
    I have tested all of my UK routes in Career mode and found that;
*I have not tested any US or German Routes*

    The Woodhead Line
    WCML North
    Settle to Carlisle
    Portsmouth Direct Line
    London to Brighton
    Great Western Mainline

    All load fine. But;

    Liverpool - Manchester
    Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue
    South Wales Coastal
    WCML Trent Valley
    WCML Over Shap
    Riviera Line
Portsmouth Direct Line - London Waterloo to Portsmouth
    Glasgow Airport Rail Link
    GEML London Ipswich
    ECML London - Peterborough
    Doncaster Works
    Chatham Main line

All just show me that background picture like I described before. Upon opening the routes "Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue" and "Doncaster Works" in the map editor I found that the Woodhead route had Nothing, It was an empty map. And Doncaster Works just had a couple of fuel pumps and relay boxes. No track, buildings or anything.

This problem has been happening when I have had no third party content installed and had performed multiple clean installs, cleared cache, verified files etc. However I am currently running a few things from Armstrong Powerhouse alongside a few skins.

It should be worth noting that DLCs such as the LMS, GWR, NER, Caledonian and Maunsell do not show up in the game consist editor (or anywhere else I've looked) As you can imagine this is kinda annoying because I've spent alot of money on this game over the years and the Steam era Coach packs from what I read prior to purchase said nothing about other requirements, If you have any idea why that is happening also, please do say. Thanks in advance.

    Hi HexAyed,

Sorry to hear you're having problems. A couple of questions for you:

Could you walk me through how you're performing the re-installs (step-by-step)?
Have you been in touch with our Customer Support?
Do you have any anti-virus or anti-malware installed, and if so, which one?

    Best, Steve

    Hi.

I've done three types of re-installs, I've deleted the game from the Steam library, and re-installed. Uninstalled and reinstalled individual DLCs using the Steam DLC manager, and deleted the game's ID file from Steam Apps, forcing Steam to think that it's uninstalled, when it's not.

I've not yet contacted customer support as I wanted to trying and find a solution inline before bothering them.

I have the standard Windows Defender and Malwarebytes that came with Windows 10.

I should point out that alot of these DLCs except the 2019 Woodhead and Portsmouth routes have worked in previous versions of TS, but I couldn't tell you exactly which versions :(

    Thanks HexAyed,

Sometimes when you uninstall, Steam doesn't actually complete this properly particularly if you've had previously installed content that isn't available on Steam. Could you try the following steps to completely re-install again please:
    1. Load Steam and then find Train Simulator in your Game Library - right-click and select Properties
    2. Click the Local Files tab on the pop-up and click the Browse Local Files button and switch back to Steam leaving the Windows Explorer window open in the background
    3. Right-click again on Train Simulator and select Uninstall
    4. Follow the instructions and wait for Steam to finish then close Steam completely by selecting Exit from the Steam menu
    5. Return to the Windows Explorer window you opened in step 2 and check that Steam has actually deleted everything in the folder - if not, use Ctrl + A to Select All and then press the Delete key and wait for the process to complete
    6. Once you're satisfied the folder is empty, drop back a couple of levels until you're in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps and delete the file appmanifest_24010.acf if it exists (don't worry if it isn't there, Steam has probably already deleted this file for you). You can now close the Windows Explorer window.
    7. Load Steam again and find Train Simulator in your Game Library, click the Install button and follow the instructions (this may take some time depending on how much content you own)
    8. Once the install has completed, right-click again on Train Simulator and select Properties, and click the Set Launch Options button
    9. Copy and paste this into the box: -LogMate -SetLogFilters=all
    10. Click OK and then Close
    11. Start Train Simulator - you may notice a new LogMate window will pop-up, there's no need for you to interact with this at all, just let it do what it's supposed to. Find a route that you were previously having a problem with and then try to load it.
    12. If you find you're still having the problem loading the route, close Train Simulator and then contact our Customer Support team and provide them with the log files which you'll find in the Train Simulator folder (you can get there by following the instructions in Step 2). The log files will look something like ts-2018-10-16-10-34-57.log

    Here's the reply I got.

    Hi HexAyed,

I'm told our Support Staff have found your ticket, if you could respond to the requests in the message, that would be most helpful.

    Many thanks, Steve

Problem is, I can't seem to reply to the ticket, as I'm getting this error.

    2018-10-19.png

I can however tell you that the TempDump folder is empty, and I can attach the DxDiag if that helps. Sorry about my PC being a pain in the bum.

    Hi.
    Having same problem.
If I unpack ALL the relevant routes/scenarios/rolling stock 'ap' files then the routes load.

Any idea how I can resolve this problem without having to unpack every 'ap' file.

    Many thanks:)

    Are you using workshops?
    If so remove them all.
I am not using a single workshop as if I do the game crash or scernarios won´t load.
    So do not use workshops.
They are causing problems in the game.

did you run a Verify of Game files? or clear the cache. I would do those as well as they have fixed various issues. I hope you get this fixed.

Thanks for you reply. I have already tried these suggestions.
I think my only option would be to unpack all the 'ap' files.

    Thanks again.

Why would you need to disassemble the game files?
    that's just crazy talk.
Where have you got the game /Steam installed on your comp?
What security programs have you got running ?
As for workshop files, they are no different to any scenario or route file but on the odd occasion the installer for workshop screws up and you get a duff file, just one, not a whole HD full as some will have you believe.
If your computer refuses to read half of the AP(zip) files then the problem is with your computer and not the game.
If the game were to blame then not one of us would be able to play ever. But as you say you can play some of the routes then we are halfway to solving YOUR problem.
Give us all your details (I mean your specs not your dress size)

There was an update to the steam client and that could be part of the issue so make sure your steam client is updated.

Bad idea - the game reads those files in an unpacked state
If you unpacked all the .AP files you would double the amount of space that TS2020 takes on your computer.
And if you deleted the .AP files after unpacking then Steam would just replace them.

Not just that, but if you unpack the AP files these unpacked files don't get updated, only the .ap files.
It is helpful for RWtools and a few other bits to do this though, so I do unpack ALL my ap files for reasons not related directly to driving the trains

Many thanks for all your help/suggestions. I think I have solved my problem though.
Making it brief, I changed the Steam directory to another partition on my Hard drive as per instructions by Steam support. It seems by moving the directory it had upset my read/write permissions in the directory which only seemed to affected TS and 'ap' files, odd I know.
Once I had restored the correct read/write permissions for Steam folder all came good. Hope what I have said kinda makes sense.

Anyway thanks again to all your help/suggestions.
Must dash got a train to drive. Cheers.

I was having the same problem for a while and couldn't find a solution until I found this post. After following the instructions, I finally got my game working, but then I had to get my PC repaired and reset to factory settings. Ever since then, my Train Simulator 2020 game has gone back to the same issue where not of the routes are loading in career, or quick drive or anything. I've tried following all the steps again multiple times but it's not doing anything ever since I got my PC back from the shop. What could be going on??? Please help! Thank you!

If you have gone back to a default version you might be missing some files for the game
Do a File Verify thru your Steam Client

Please explain what you mean by "i tried to install the chatham and medway valley lines"
You buy the route off Steam and it installs everything you need

It reads the Assets out of the MedwayValleyLineAssets.ap which you should have in \railworks\Assets\DTG\MedwayValleyLine

Maybe try extracting the AP file. I once had a couple problems that were solved by simply extracting the contents of the ap file using 7-zip.

Do you have the original Chatham Mainline route? Since I know that Medway actually requires that route to work. Looking by the issues you are having I am now suspicious that you may be attempting to use a pirated version of the route.

rwp files you were given? Definitely sounds like a pirated copy.

You should not have been given the files to install as you did not pay for them.
Steam/Valve has Anti-Piracy software to stop that happening and is why you can not see what you expect.
