It's an Avanti West Coast x APT livery:

I wanted to blend the livery into the AWC livery so had to compromise slightly

 

Is APT the theme you was doing with a slight mix up?.
I’ve just gone for the APT theme celebrating Railway 200 on the Pendolino as the technology was born from British Engineering Teams.
A major milestone that was close to completion if Margret Thatchers government don’t have it in for BR to privatise it.
They pulled the plug and lost all that advanced in rail technology.

Such a shame so that what I’ve gone for as it was my original intention for my first 390, just never got around to it.
So that’s why I only took me a night as it’s been on my mind for sometime.

This livery will pay homage to the teams that brought us the APT E and the Class 370 or APT.
It was there if they only had time to work small issues out, they over came the main issues raised in operation.
Motion sickness etc but again the government pushed the project so wasn’t ready for public release never mind carrying passengers.

I went for 390 016 as my inspiration as I know that AWC are running a service some time this year with this unit to beat the record the APT made between Euston and Glasgow Central. I wanted to bend the realism of the APT as I wanted to use a similar technique which LNER used with their 91s.

I watched a few documentaries on that a while back. It's surprising as we ended up buying back the technology from Alstom which used similar technology to the APT.

That’s right I’ve heard something about that myself and there is a 390 Unit that broke that time before.

I’m a little lost on the 91s tho but I’m sure they had a good crack. I know they too have some retro liveries.

You done what I have then done a lot of research on the APT.
Due to the technology around in the late 70s it’s was remarkable the Development Department got as far as they did with such low funding which eventually got pulled. BR was struggling after the war and the The Beeching Act the the rise of car usage.
BR needed to get passengers back on the rails but due to old stock and funds couldn’t.

The APT was a way to bring passengers back to BR but we know what happened with that.
It’s what gave rise to the Class 43. Design a HST but with the technology that has been proven to work.
The Class 43 was meant to be a stop gap, for the Class 370 to take over.

But it wasn’t to be. Other countries developed their own systems or was sold the technological by our government.
The short sightedness of the then Thatcher government. And then John Major did the rest.

It why sometimes doing fictional work based on historical events can have its advantages.
We may never see them for real but as fans we can always enjoy our passion with all things Rail oriented.

I love that your doing what your doing, it’s not as easy as making a real TOCs. Because it’s all there I’m front of you.
But making fictional liveries get the creative mind going.

Unfortunately I'm not old enough to understand why certain decisions were made regarding the APT and the experimental version (APT-E). It's a shame as it could have helped current manufacturers such as Hitachi or CAF design Tilting trains. But I guess that also shows why Privatisation can help grow the market and improve journeys.

Heh no worries. Looking back, I don't think I explained it very well anyways. I believe Avanti in Italian is forward (or that's what Avanti say in their marketing campaigns) so that was my clue

Yes my age will play a important role because I was alive in the 80s. Even the Miners Strikes. And been on holiday to Rhyl on man a Class 101s. Rhyl station use to have a large ship models in the main entrance. But not been on a train for what over 25 years now maybe even longer. When ya have a car you don’t tend to use Trains. And why Beeching did what he did, He was friends with a contractor called Monks, but don’t quote me on that.

I was only young tho so remember the political situation behind until later on with the advent of Media outlets.
A lot of videos and YT videos provide that information and my main source of knowledge.

When I get time I will find a few videos that explain from a board room perspective what happened during the APT E and APT development.
And where the class 43 design came in.
So I’ll try get that for you soon mate.

Can you share what you have put in the description of the mod on CC? As I've had my fair share of content being taken down in the past, so I should know what's up .

There's no rush anyway. Just take your time with it. I know you have projects to do so don't worry about it

 

I know it's a really quick response, but the reasons why content is taken down from CC is because of one of these three things:

- Copyright
- Profanity
- Intellectual Content

I have had a look on CC myself to see if there are other London Midland liveries up there, and it seems there is. However, the creators have gotten away with 'London Midlands' instead of 'London Midland'.

I presume it'll be due to copyright of the London Midland brand that the game is picking up on. I haven't seen any profanity within the description, or any intellectual content either.

So, I'd change 'London Midland' to 'London Midlands' (both within the title, and the description) and see if it gets taken down again or not...

I totally dislike how work get banned with no real explanation. If we knew then we could do something about it.
As it’s not always a case of Copyright infringement.
And is a simpler issue. From my experience it’s mostly the description and why I keep them simple now.

So what does your description say?. I’d ask that first or maybe TG08 can help you.

For an example I couldn’t upload this.Use of Scot Rail on a Class 52?. Did this on TSW3. Seems years ago now.

Again it’s the wording that can get you. Such as in LE it won’t let you enter Class?.
Yet I placed this up not long ago as you guys will know. This is London Midland using set decals in the game. Yet London Midland no longer exists and ceased in 2017. Govia the company that operated that franchise may not care in some aspects. So it has to be the system DTG have in place that monitors content.

Meaning the odd word is the only problem because Mr Ai loves to say no and would cough in your face if it could.
Computer says noooooo. Lol.

But yes TG08 has given the 3 main reasons. Is odd tho if others are up there including mine.

I’ll read on see if you get it shorted. Hope you do, it absolutely rattles me when it happens.
And I don’t want you to be feeling bad. I’ll read on tho.

So what are your plans then if your removing the logo for now?.
Are you going to redo. Reason why I done something similar on 43 803 “Pen y Darren” that being using the BR logo as a merge point or break point. Its the approach or route I’m going down as I think it works and looks modern and bold. Simplify.

It works trust me, and your not far off. If you line up and balanced out that logo to the body then I think it will be there.
Remember reference points and balancing out to the design or shape of the 390.

Maybe you are already and why your doing what you are. I will wait and see.
But in the state its currently in on CC then it’s doing well for so early.

Looks like I have some competition on my hands tho. Great work mate.

Hey Lee,
Just got back from an appointment. Heh, oh you know, have to keep people on their toes when I can You'll know about that when I get around to making your surprise project I mentioned to you (oops did I say too much ) Cheers for the advice though. For now I'm going to analyse feedback and then use that to formulate a plan for where to go next. I think for the time being, I'll get started on another project and come back when I can.

Again it comes down to copyright. I have made a few liveries over the years that are ScotRail related, and they have either been taken down or at least reported (in the past). It is basically the same situation as London Midland to put it lightly.

I gave up. Had the same with this.

Spent about half hour writing the history behind the Name,,,GFB, just in case I get banned. Would not let me post. I may have made some reference to the situation in the description accompanying this livery on CC.

I have a few up of Scot Rail, so must just be the Class 52.
Be interesting to see if there is any Class 52s like this on CC.

In my liveries that feature ScotRail, I have shortened it to 'ScR', which seems to work. They might get the rare report, but they don't get taken down or whatever .

I understand that. It how I learnt about titles and descriptions causing issues for Jplayz as before.

For reporting then I am not fan to be fair. Experience in a car gaming community for a while. It can be damaging if missed used.
Here I’m glad to say that 95% percent get blocked as soon as you post. Where I think the other 5% then is that due to being reported.
I’ll never know.

I still have no explanation from the time I did the Xmas 395 livery or class 43 LNER situation that eventually eaten away at me.
Why I mention it now because it’s still so vivid.

Thinking on what this be a possible separation Topic of discussion. The effects a ban with no explanation for why silly measures are in place.
It can cause great anxiety and frustration for some that don’t fully comprehend T&C. Even me, I might talk the talk but can’t walk the walk when understanding copyright infringement etc. Some user see other liveries done and wanted to do.

It why you never see many real TOCs from me much. I know what would be popular but hold of all confused at times.
Can be overwhelming like in the past which led to me taking a year hiatus.
And why to this day hold of with work such as the 66s for Rail 200.

Means to pass DTG T&C and safe guard me by seeking permission from TOCs is what I do. But how does one progress if you get no support from them or support in the game or on here.

I’m waffling,,, but yes maybe a good point of discussion on another thread?.
Why, well simply because how it effects or can affect users of all ages.
If it’s a wide spread issue for some users like myself that struggle understanding the T&C then where is the assistance from DTG?.
Are we left to deal with as you have today?.

Not a simple ban that we can clearly see caused Jplayz some stress. Okay small amounts but stress over something that is basically un called for in some users eyes. Yet it will be normal the case of the 3 rules you mentioned before.

And how difficult it is for some to understand worthy of a discussion?.
Could or would DTG have a member available to deal with any direction queries in relation to bans.
Does DTG have a demand of tickets raised by a query we witnessed today?.
Thus slowing down or holding up real serious issues in other tickets raised.

Update 1: Branding/details:

I've managed to get the cab of the 350 complete. I am working on the branding now as it is partially covered by the window border so I'm hitting two birds with one stone. Expect more updates soon.

 

Good work, looking good. I’m gonna miss out a little on liveries due to home duties, I have to go. Even now but I can’t seem to bring myself to leave.
