Haven't got a final count but I estimate the total to be over 2000+

Agreed, another dump of screenshots is overdue, here’s a couple from the start of the thread for those who are just catching up.

    upload_2025-5-22_16-31-3.png

and a really nice one of Ealing Broadway showing the makeshift D78 Stock, but mostly just for how good it looks with all the clutter:

So us console users should not be concerned that this remaster will break GWE for us?

A route that currently runs smooth and has no blurry textures we may never be able to run again. The SKA updated timetable that we can't run on XBX without melting textures.

We do have a right to be worried that we are about to lose a route from our collection because of thia remaster.

That’s why i Said Remove All Underground Trains as AI and Playable for Console, it’s too much because of Memory issues

Layers will be removed if needed for consoles. Otherwise the layer selection tool can be used to free up more memory.

Hopefully if layers do have to be removed on GWE:R's timetable for consoles, they'll at least remain in place on PC. Bit like the Frankfurt S-Bahn situation.

If Consoles are being deliberately left out of services and AI traffic is this new DTG Policy to move away from Console?

Because if it is then I'll be moving away from DTG and no longer supporting them with my purchases.

Liam has literally just emphasised it's only if necessary to make it work.

What's the point in having a bulging timetable is it keeps crashing on something with fixed hardware?

And if that's the way forward for TSW for future paid DLCs I'll have no part in it, My money will go elsewhere.

If the layering is cut back, I'm afraid it's going to push me away from the game for a while... I'd be disappointed beyond words.

I have been extremely excited for this route more then any other route on the roadmap given how extensive it is going to be. However, if this normalisation of cutting back timetables continues, it is one way to move myself away from the game until a point in which it is made playable again. People slate Gen9 consoles, but they are absolutely perfectly capable of playing this hardware, so it is not a console issue, it's a DTG issue around optimisations. Not to be confused.

This is in no way a reflection on Liam or his work (I always champion and admire Liams word with whatever he does, he is an extremely talented chap with a bright future). He as the creator of this remaster does not have a choice in the backround issues plaguing the game and any other limitations that are causing issues. So just to make that clear, it is no reflection on Liam and is more an analysis of the reasons the timetable could be cut back.

It's only an 'IF' at the moment, in regards to if the full timetable won't be implemented, so nothing is concrete and just a hypothetical situation at present. But us Gen9 console players can only hope optimisation is improved by the release date which is still to be announced and within the next road map or two. But I would be extremely disappointed and deflated if the 'full sugar' timetable isn't implemented on Gen9.

The GWE remaster is looking utterly amazing and I want to emphasize on that fact, and give it my most sincere compliments. But, as I say if DTGs internal team can not rectify the wider issues on consoles, it certainly will push me and others away regardless of what is on offer.

I'd rather all layers remain. Otherwise, might as well get rid of the layer selection feature.

If we get an extension to GWE I'd like for ATP to be implemented, even if it's in a similar manner to AP - have a setup process to allow the brakes to release, show the speed limits relevant to the track you are on and if there is a point to slow show it, and implement some markers to turn on/off ATP when leaving the region. Would be neat.

I would presume that if it is not on the Gatwick Express version then unlikely to be on this either.

GX version came out in TSW2 though. It’s always nice to know on a potential TSW5/TSW6 product.

    They will still be in.
I think Rhys has some plans for the train audio but unsure to what extent.
Nothing confirmed but will look into it.

Here is an idea regarding FGW unbranded trains, rather than just leaving the trains blank, how about putting a fictious train company name on it like "Fast Great Western" or "Great Western" or something. It has to be well clear of the original to avoid any problems. Has DTG actually reached out to FGW or is there no intensions to?

FGW are GWR. Just like how in 2017 they didn’t allow DTG to use the FGW branding I doubt even with the license back they’ll let them do it now.

Personally not a fan of using a fake name. As for FGW licensing I don't really know how that side works but I'm hoping there's a chance now we have GWR's licence again.

Hard no. It just gives it a very cheap, knock-off vibe IMO, like the sort of thing you'd see in a cheap, low budget thing from about 2005. In any case, I doubt GWR would be all too pleased with it.

    Thanks :)

I agree - I'm fine with made up names for like coffee shops etc., but I think doing that for trains would be a step too far. Unbranded is ok for additional stuff (not really for hero locos IMO), and I would much rather unbranded to flat out fake

Hazarding a guess, a reduced timetable here would still be better than the current timetable we have. You are still getting a major improvement. This shouldn't be treated like releasing a brand new route and cutting back, if anything it's more like everyone including console players is getting an enhanced pack mod that refreshes the scenery (especially seeing as you are not paying any extra for it).

Don't derail this thread with fears of optimisation. It's valid to be annoyed by the game running poorly but we currently know nothing on how GWR runs and getting angry about your own speculations is pointless.

Really hope GWR will let Liam do this, would be such a shame to be running with an unbranded 387 to Hayes & Harlington.

On the 387 being branded, it's too late now to create a proper one. The remaster has taken long enough and adding a new train is just going to add to that time. Maybe something can be done in the future after the remaster is out.

How about just adding the GWR Logos to the Trains for the Release?
All is better as unbranded trains, so the Community would accept the same Interior as Placeholder for now

License holders want trains to match the real designs as close as possible, which is the same thoughts I have for it. No point of slapping a logo on the side and calling it a day.

Maybe there is a Chance for a current GWR line in the Future with a new Class 387 and 800 with Full Overhead Line and Elizabeth Line Class 345 too?
It would be great to have the current Rolling Material as new DLC available

That reminds me, is there any possibility of having the original start of West World restored? They ruined the scenario by removing the part where you had to take a train into Paddington.
As has been made clear that would be very unpopular. Having simple 'Great Western' text on the side actually isn't totally unrealistic, some trains that weren't repainted for a long time had that on the side, but it was never on the HSTs and I don't think any 166s got it either.

Why can't some people just take a polite no as an answer? I'm trying to avoid instigating what can be perceived as an argument... But just leave off about the 387 livery, it will be perfectly fine the way it is when released, and who knows a few months down the line the official livery may be added? I just get so annoyed by how bratty and demanding some people can be... Just appreciate what is looking to be not only the best remaster to date but what is going to be one of the best routes in TSW5!

So much hard work has gone into reworking the HST, adding AI, adding rolling stock, updating rolling stock with relevant technology, and so much more to bring this upto a phenomenal standard, and all some people can do is just nit pick and act self entitled?

Anyway, looking forward to this and probably the most excited about this more then any other routes released for TSW5 to date! (Fingers crossed the core issues are updated in sync with this)

A significant amount of work has been put into the remaster; more than what most people in this forum will publicly know. Let's not delay the release of this remaster by any more, by adding additional work loads to Liam's already very busy schedule.

Additional work and improvements can always be always be added post release, but the amount of work done thus far should not be undermined.

I know a lot of people here are excited and are going to be very happy with this release :)

I mean it is a forum, people are within their own right to ask whether something will be included or not. I doubt these people are going to dislike the remaster when it comes out and if they do that’s fair within their own right isn’t it? I’m just excited to not see barren scenery next to the track! ;)

There is a massive difference between asking for something, and then not taking no for an answer and being persistently annoying and trying to tell someone how to do their job. The offending person in question has a habit of doing this...

I'm excited like most (very excited!), but I can recognise how much work and detail has gone into this remaster and have every faith in it being phenomenal, aswell as post release patches that may update particular things such as liveries etc... when appropriate. But I'm grateful for the work that has gone into it and would not be cheeky enough to act in such a demanding way that comes across as rude or self entitled.

Just to add, my message isn't meant to sound provocative but just point out the distinction between 'asking for something', and then 'not taking no as an answer'.

My excitement with it has worn down over time, compared to everything else it really is dated and showing its age.

Hopefully this remaster will remedy that.

Excited also because its the only route that really lets the HST stretch it's legs a bit at 125mph all the way to Reading!

Yes, but it is the original, still a very good route and would easily see off some of the new routes.

Yeah, it is nice to have the HST for a long run. I done all the timetables in GWE and driving the Class 166 and seeing the HST zoom past you is nice or not nice as wish I was driving it, just show what a great machine it is.
