For me, the main problem with the face of this(and not only this) loco is that DTG can and do make metal-looking materials, but this one looks like it's made of cardboard.
Yeah, I agree, not only does the material itself look pretty funky, but things seem to be out of place as well (like the headlights that are lower than irl, and the wrong wipers). I'm not sure why this is, the HSPs and bilevel cars look excellent, I was very impressed, and even the MBBs look good.
Good afternoon, I hope I’m doing this whole thread thing right lol. The Worcester Line route is amazing, and for the most part it’s accurate and the models are great. There is one big thing that bugs me with the route and I dont know if it’s is a me problem or game problem but I’m almost curtain it’s with the game. The “new” F40 and HSP46 engine sounds are way too quiet. If I was oblivious I would have thought they were battery units, no joke. I put in multiple other US Add-on locomotives in the route, no other units are quiet. Just the MBTA units. There is no reason the bell sound should drain out all engine audio. Can this be looked into? Thanks
Issue with track textures on Boston Worcester after today's update on PS5. Service number 7:28 P589 Boston South - Ashland with the HSP 46. Custom weather with light clouds. Tried other services and all seem to be affected. Apologies if there's not enough info, never posted before.
How do they even manage to do this is beyond my comprehension. The route didn't even include any changes in the patch notes. They just brake LOVE they don't even touch.
It’s fixed now but gosh this could’ve been avoided if they simply verified and tested the patch, before rolling it out to everyone…
I'm sorry that was completely unacceptable that it even made it out at all. DTG really needs to step up their QA because major game breaking issues like that needs to not happen at all.
When doing one of the Extra services where you haul flat cars I encountered some penalty braking behaviour that I don't understand. It was the 11:37 Extra where you have three flat cars with an F40PH-3C at either end. The service went ok for awhile but as I got close to a train ahead of me and started getting yellow signals the safety system directed me to slow down. So I moved the brake into Suppression and hit the acknowledge button which stopped the beeping and the light went out on the HUD. The problem is a second or two later the light on the HUD comes back on, the PCS OPEN light comes on and the train brakes me to a stop requiring me to go through the recovery process to get moving again. This occured four times during the service. I don't understand why this happens, normally when it directs you to slow down you put the brake in Suppression, hit the acknowledge button and once you are below the target speed you can release the brake and carry on. Does anyone know why the PCS OPEN light would come on and brake me to a halt? The only thing I can think of is that the F40PH-3C does not have a Banking Comms button on it's radio, so I wasn't linked to the rear locomotive. Could that cause this? I did check to see what the keyboard shortcut was for Banking Comms but it seems to be unassigned and for some reason I could not reassign it so I was unable to test with it on, assuming the F40PH-3C has that ability at all. Posted to the XB Series X threads, all the info can be seen there, I am only posting here as it's the feedback thread. The CSX Q436 Selkirk, NY to Framingham, MA could not be completed. Xbox Series X - Sand Patch Grade Csx Selkirk, Ny-framingham, Ma Crash X2 | Dovetail Games Forums
a tiny question, since I am coming back to HSP after playing quite some hours on Peninsula Corridor, where you usually also have to set up HEP engine at the start... do you do anything with HEP here or the loco has it automatically turned on at the start of services? also, how can you tell if it is on besides the voltage/power numbers on displays? does it produce smoke out of a separate vent like on MP36PH on Peninsula?
While this is on the Xbox, I figured I would post a link to the XB post here, see, this is the Feedback thread. Xbox Series X - Mbta Boston-worcester: What Happened, Shadows & Lighting | Dovetail Games Forums
To unlock all freight services on the Train Sim World Boston to Worcester route, you need to own several DLC add-ons: Sand Patch Grade, BNSF SD70Ace, Sherman Hill, Horseshoe Curve, and Cajon Pass. These add-ons provide the locomotives and rolling stock necessary to operate the various freight services and variations. Without them, you will have limited or no freight services available.
Sand Patch Grade BNSF SD70ACe loco Add-on Sherman Hill Horseshoe Curve Cajon Pass From the article here: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/articles/article/mbta-commuter-pre-order
Thanks for the lists. Another question though - I have Sand Patch and Cajon Pass. I still see empty yards, no AI traffic, and no options to run freight services in the timetable. (Admittedly, I'm not running MBTA services at night - but still - shouldn't I see something in a yard?)
That's correct. You need Horseshoe Curve for the flat cars and SPG for the CSX services. Plus the other routes for various rolling stock, including AI and static stock.
Quick question folks… Is this route worth grabbing for the current 50% off in the sale or is the experience broadly similar to Providence, hopefully minus the snow!
Hi vern its more variety of weather on Journey mode. Its lot slower you wouldn't get much past 65mph . Its stopper route with a handful of express jobs.
It is not a bad route; "I do like it" it does have its quirks, and there are some, well, a fair amount of issues that need addressing. Have a look here if you have not seen these yet, and there are some services that are with snow, but not all are with snow. Honestly, for the sale price it's not bad, and if you can get past the issues it does have. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/mbta-commuter-feedback-thread.86929/page-9#post-994533 https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/mbta-commuter-feedback-thread.86929/page-9#post-1006382
Took the plunge and it's downloading now, the free HSP46 being an additional incentive. Think I remember being put off at the time that £30 was a lot of money for a route which only went half the distance of the TSC version. But at sale price that's not such an issue and there is a certain something about US diesel commuter, apart from the slow crawl in and out of terminus stations! I suspect I will get more fun out of this than CCN or MIA.
That is what you call having fat fingers when typing lol yes its a good little route im completed the and enjoyed it. And if you have all of the us freight routes and add ons get freight on that route as well.
haha yeah I dont get it either... I mean, I know you cant go too fast on regular switches, but in EU (at least from my personal experience as a train fan and rider) trains usually go like 30-40 kph over most of slower switches and as for speeds at start/terminus stations, again, 30-40 kph, but I have seen faster and then stop like a meter or two before the buffer... but then, US trains are also much heavier, therefore I get they took longer to stop other than my thoughts and sparse material I have managed to find on the subject, I dont really know why US termini speeds are so damn slow
Just got back onto this route had a few left to do night jobs and man yhe F40ph-3 headlights are so bright still. Thought that would have been sorted by now.
Really like what I've seen so far. The route looks and feels very different to the Providence line, a more earthy, grungy and weathered feel. Even doing one of the all stations "bus service" runs, I'm having fun. Interesting operations too with some of the stations only having one platform resulting in left hand running for a bit. Only caveat is that we again have a US route with no big rig trucks moving on the freeways and highways. We really need to get an injection of those into the vehicle spawners on all the American routes. But so far very happy and even more so when I can do a run with the new loco.
^5 Have fun, enjoy & happy railroading, I do have to say the HSP46 does look good and in my own way it feels good.
Out of curiosity just wondered what, if any, passenger services go beyond Worcester. Should there be an Amtrak presence on this route, presumably with locos and maybe coaches we don’t as yet have in game?
There is Lake Shore Limited: Boston/New York - Albany - Chicago. And yes, TSW don't have any of Amtrak diesel locos and any of Viewliner sleepers/baggage cars. We only have Amfleet coaches.
One of the problems I have after playing the route for some time and not noticing at first is that every single bi level is the same interior except for the cab car. Each car has a bathroom which isn’t how it is in real life and it feels like a copy paste for each car in the game. Usually a consist only has one. The ends of each bi level car should look like this
the only gripes I got with this route are - the overly sensitive ACSES/ATC combo, which makes you crawl at 45 mph and less way too early and then even though now after patches you can actually get close to stop marker, you still mostly get penalty application, even though it doesnt matter much cos you are at the end... but still
At the moment I’m running with the safety systems off. I noticed on my first run into Worcester with the F40 the display was notifying speed reductions to 45 and then 30 several miles out. Fortunately with the enforcement isolated I was able to play a bit fast and loose with the requirement. My current run with the HSP46 started in twilight and it’s now night; the lighting on this route seems pretty nice compared to some. Though the HSP has a headlight like a small sun probably helps. I would love to see some more MBTA in the game.
I’ve been looking at their network map and looks like there is an interesting line out of North Station along the coast to Rockport and Newbury Port. TSW6 core, please - which is not infeasible given the low cost/free HSP46 which is not going to lose them too much money to bundle with a new MBTA route.
I should just clear up one misconception I had, didn’t realise the HSP46 comes with the Worcester route. I had assumed it was a new add on for both lines. Probably because the first run proper in Journey generated a F40!
a couple patches ago I followed everything and I could only get like 200 ft to the stop marker before I got penalty application, even though I was crawling sub 10 mph... now I can get to within a couple feet to the stop marker (which is still like 100 or so feet from actual signal), but I still get penalty app (which I see from the state of brakes) tried both F40 and HSP46, both do that in Worcester... since now I can actually get pretty acurate stops before getting the application, it is not such a big deal, but it is still doing that... I know and understand what STOP means on the display, and I do both acknowledge and braking, it still does that tried that like 2 weeks ago, might do a run today just in case to see if anything changed as for cactus, I respect him a lot, but bugs can still sneak into builds... anyway, just for clarity and my own calm, I will do a run today and see what happens... I can get through the crawl to the final stop, but lets see if I get a penalty app (even though I follow and acknowledge stuff)
I am wondering if somehow the speed restriction is not 5MPH as you approach the platform, yet it's not shown nor indicated in any way. Just a thought.?
hm, I tried going like 8 mph, but y know what, thats actually not a bad idea, might try if that stops the systems from activating - cos my approach was that if I slow down below 10 mph and acknowledge (with STOP/ red), it wont happen, but I still get it like shortly before actually stopping, even though the physical signal/post is still like 50-100 feet away... so, I will try your idea, see if it works, if yeah, will let y all know here (still at work so will try when I get back )
