    July 2025 Roadmap Livestream

Announcing: Train Sim World 6 - Arriving this year!
Firstly, we've got some huge news to share: Train Sim World 6 is arriving this year! Let's hear it from your regular roadmap hosts Alex and Matt:

Expect the Unexpected! - Anyone got any guesses for what's coming up?

So, before you ask why we are revealing this early, a reminder that we have to avoid JD leaking this all on our Roadmap livestream tonight, so this was the next best option.
But more seriously, we're incredibly excited to share the news, and we believe that letting you all know sooner helps us join in the conversations, stay open and engaged with you all over the next couple months as we approach the Dovetail Direct, with our team helping alleviate any worries or questions regarding key details for what we have in store.

We're not going to give away the details about the content just yet, so get your best speculation threads ready, but we can confirm the good bits, starting with the return of the Free Starter Pack, your way to enter Train Sim World 6 at no cost, either as an existing player with a range of TSW compatible content, or someone brand-new to the series looking to hop in!

Train Sim World 6 will of course bring a range of great value paid bundles to get your hands on, and it will be available for all the same platforms we currently support for TSW5 too, including those on Gen8 consoles.

Performance and optimisation remains to be a keen focus of our dev team, and in the last month we've been able to share the first selection of these updates, but you can expect us to keep going and improving the experience.

Oh, and one final thing - our teams at Dovetail Games have been developing brand new titles, one of which we're excited to start talking about very soon! Again, don't expect any details today for this, but stay tuned across our socials, website and community spaces for more information in the coming weeks.
Finally - for the full details of content coming in Train Sim World 6, announcements of brand-new add-ons coming to TSW, further news on our upcoming new titles and more - you'll want to be first in line to our upcoming Dovetail Direct on August 26th. The event is ready to view right now on our YouTube channel below, and will be live on both YouTube and Twitch during the day.

We've got a wonderful few weeks ahead of us, with all the new exciting news for Train Sim World 6, and of course we still have all new releases coming to Train Sim World 5 from our third-party partners. Why don't we take a quick look at what's still to come this month, starting with a brand new add-on announcement!

    Partner Programme
Announcing a new twin-set of Turbos from Rivet Games
We have one last reveal coming to Train Sim World 5... Rivet Games have been busy working on expanding the gameplay of the Cross-City Line, and the star of the show is the upcoming WMR & XC BR Class 170! James spent some time with the pack to bring you the news:

The Class 170 makes its second appearance in Train Sim World, sporting new liveries, modifications (including the old AdTranz headlight clusters) and for the first time, the CrossCountry brand to Train Sim World - a license we are delighted to have back since its last appearance in TS Classic!

The passenger interiors and the cabs differ per Train Operating Company (TOC), CrossCountry for example features First Class accommodation, but the West Midlands Railway 170 does not, also note the remnants of London Midland with the unmistakable green moquette.

Diesel and electric cross paths just outside of Bromsgrove, at the base of the Lickey Incline. The pair of 323s will later fly up the famed hill with ease, the 170 however is about to slog it at less than 40mph!

Winter snow settles on the trackbed as 170520 slows for University station, the only intermediate station between Birmingham and Bromsgrove which both the CrossCountry and WMR diesel services call at.

On a CrossCountry service bound for Nottingham, 170638 shoots past an accelerating 323 at Northfield station, making use of the central, unelectrified lines. The southern half of the route gets a new lease of life!

Busy busy Birmingham, whether it's Desiros for Wolverhampton or Pendolinos racing to Crewe, AI trains bound for all directions can now be seen, making it feel just as busy as it should be, with Transport for Wales AI also making a presence here.

For a bit of bitesize Birmingham flavour, the 170 (in conjunction with the Class 350 as a layer) also provides additional playable services between New Street and Aston. A short but sweet treat if one doesn't have the appetite for blasting via Bournville.

The northern tip of the route is not left out of the action - alongside all the Class 170 and Birmingham New Street layers, you can also enjoy a bit of Trent Valley trainspotting! Keep an eye out below the 323's high-level platform at Lichfield for fast and stopper services alike.

The WMR & XC BR Class 170 DMU joins the West Midlands line-up soon, and you can expect this add-on to come ahead of the Dovetail Direct on August 26th. We will share more news and details in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, you have a couple days left to pick up WCML South & the Avanti West Coast Pendolino in the Steam Summer Sale if you haven't already to prepare Birmingham for its additional traffic!

Class 86 + Mk2f Coaches from Just Trains - Arriving on July 15th!
Just Trains' first locomotive Add-on is releasing this time next week - Get ready to hop aboard the Class 86 from the release on July 15th 2025!

This classic electric locomotive brings additional gameplay to the longest UK route in Train Sim World: West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle, introduces new Mk2F coaches and also the highly-requested Mk1 RMB, or "Restaurant Miniature Buffet", which is staffed!

We've got an extensive Class 86 Full Announce article which details much more of the add-on that you can expect, a comprehensive Class 86 manual, as well as our Class 86 Walkaround Video on our channels for you to get a closer look!

Train Sim World 5: Class 86/2 & Mk2F Coaches will release on Tuesday 15th July for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for £19.99/€24.99/$24.99

Expert DB BR 101 on Kassel-Würzburg Gameplay Pack from TSG - Coming later this month!

As a reminder from last month, we also announced a new pack coming from the TSG team, featuring the Expert DB BR 101, on Kassel - Würzburg, with a new expanded timetable, 5 exciting Expert-Level scenarios, and much more!

Coming in with 26 more playable services and over 1200 new AI services to bring live into the cities, it focuses heavily on IC traffic with the 101 Expert but brings you new opportunities for the ICE3 and 1 too.

The expanded timetable will change/add the following:
    • Reworked freight layers
    • ICE trains and formations have been swapped around to better represent the 2018 timetable, including the addition of an ICE-T layer
    • IC layer is completely different with many more 101 and cab car-led services, including a few light loco runs where LZB use is prohibited
    • New FlixTrain layer with 2x BR 193 services
    • Overhauled and added AI wherever the high-speed line passes by or interacts with other lines

You'll be able to experience five new expert level scenarios, which introduce new gameplay not seen before, such as:
    • A rescue scenario with the ultimate stopping precision required
    • Wrong-line running around track closures
    • Voice-over lines
    • Befehl documents on the cab desk
    [IMG]

We'll be sharing much more details about what you can expect in these new scenarios in future articles, but for now stay excited and prepare yourself to expect the unexpected!

    Add-on Timeline Summary

Now that we've covered the remaining add-ons coming to Train Sim World 5, we wanted to confirm where you can expect all our previously announced add-ons listed on the roadmap to land.

They really shouldn't have announced this addon during DTG Direct last year now it’s just becoming TSW6 content... Or maybe even TSW7?!

    The return of Rivet

Am I the only one who thought about the recently released Cross City mod when I saw the Class 170 DLC? (I laughed a little)

I have to say, the gameplay packs that have come out recently are a real improvement in quality, so I'm really happy to see that Rivet is working on a pack for Birmingham CrossCity and that the KWG pack is also coming later this month. Compliments keep up the great work with these fantastic additions!

Ah, ____, here we go again. Say Hello to TSW6!
See what can we get, another Dovetail Direct, and by Aug 26th, we can see the brand new TSW6 featuring 3 route and 3 loco DLC. Then, all of these would happened again at 2026.
The announcement of new TSW would become an annually event: they would announce a Dovetail Direct at July, and then announce the new TSWX on that event at August (or maybe on July Roadmap, like this time.)

TBH, beside TSW6, the second most interesting product is XC/WMR's Class 170 , but I am concerning about its quality since this product is developing by Rivet.

By the way, since Rivet has got XC license, can we expect the Voyager in future?

Well it looks like it will, with vastly more services. The only thing I can see missing is the Voyager services and the XC HST.

What's interesting about the 170 pack is that it's better for AI than it is for playable services, which I don't mind at all. To me that's an an important an aspect of rolling stock DLC as being able to drive it is. I wonder how much it'll be - hopefully less than £20 (and I don't mean £19.99)

To be quite honest, I didn't think the way DTG communicated things in this roadmap was bad, with the announcement of TSW6 in a direct and transparent way (without that ridiculous suspense) and that it will also have the free starter pack (which is great because if I don't like any new route/loco deluxe content or special edition bundles, I can still upgrade to TSW6) and they even reserved a section of the roadmap as "arriving for TSW6" which is quite transparent in my opinion
Regarding TSW6, it doesn't surprise me (and I confess that it's a bit annoying to have to download all my DLCs again but the free starter pack makes up for that), it's something I think we all expected but I liked the fact that they are direct and transparent with all this, keep it up
btw, the 3 DLCs in the 0-3 months section will apparently be the last ones for TSW5
Class 86 on the 15th, KWG BR 101 timetable/gameplay pack at the end of July and Class 170 sometime in August (before August 26th, the date of the dovetail direct)

Very interesting about the BCC/170 pack. Am I reading this right - you can drive 350s & 170s between New Street & Aston?
350s presumably on the Walsall services.

And STILL no mention of the Sprinter timetable for the Fife Circle. It's gotten way past the point of being ridiculous now.

As for the 170s, if Rivet's iteration of the Scotrail version are anything to go by I would be putting any excitement on ice until reviews come out. Over a year on and it's still akin to driving in complete silence.

Basically this pack does for cross-city what the 380 did for Cathcart. More of this please!

(and I wouldn't mind HST AI services, even if not repainted, like they did with the Scotrail route ;))

So it looks like this time every core country will get some additional rolling stock in deluxe edition. No more Cajon thing this time?

Thats not what they meant. Last year the US Content got shafted in the deluxe edition, as Cajon was on offer, a TSW3 route with no new additional content. While the UK and DE got new content.

The point you’re forgetting… San Bernardino is a DTG product, whereas the High Iron Simulation DLC isn’t made by DTG so it seems very unlikely that it would be included in TSW6.

No, you missed the point I was making out to the other person that has now deleted their post.

The US did not get any new content with the deluxe edition last year, just Cajon pass compared to new rolling stock for the UK and DE. The other person's post which is now deleted mentioned the ATSF pack which has no related to the original comment well above.

Which is that the 3 core nations (Assuming UK DE and US) will be getting at least something of a new piece of rolling stock for TSW6s deluxe edition, instead of the US getting the short end of the stick with DTG bundling an already existing US route to the deluxe bundle.

    Is that more clear?

Ah, that clears things up I must have misunderstood you earlier. Thanks for explaining! But I wouldn’t bet my money on the standard UK, DE, and US routes. The UK route, in my opinion, is a very safe bet, but the other two are far from certain. Especially a German route feels like a big question mark. A Dutch or Austrian route seems much more likely. As for the US route that’s a whole book in itself, especially when it comes to the handling of New York Trenton, which clearly shows that DTG struggles there. And personally, I get the impression that it’s also not an easy one sales-wise. But hey, that’s pure speculation on my part.

To sum it up briefly: I’m not putting my money on a German route..

Not surprised about TSW6 in the slightest... but I'm gonna say, I'm quite neutral on this. I'll reserve my judgment for when it's released.

A little bit disappointing that it's this far into the future, but quality takes time. Still looking forward to it!

Does this last sentence mean we can't expect another update in the upcoming months, until TSW6 is out? Certainly hope not...

I have one request which I’m confident many others will agree with. For the Dovetail Direct event, PLEASE carefully consider what, if anything should be the major announcement after the backlash that followed the announcement of Thomas in the December version. The massive build up to, what was essentially a whimsical addon, let to major disappointment, which is a pity as there was nothing wrong with releasing the product in my opinion (I even bought it and had a modicum of fun with it). It’s just that it was built up as this major release and people expected something major, not just a fun little addon.

Could you discuss more on TSW 6 requirements on the stream tonight. I currently play on a steam deck and TSW5 runs really well. Will the new game have similar requirements and run the same ?

I'd be more excited if it wasn't on gen 8 too.

Gonna be a hot mess of some routes having achievements/trophies and some not depending whether they're on xbox one or not

This right here. I have lost my profile so many times by now that i pretty much start fresh with each TSW version. I doesn't bother me but it would be nice if TSW6 can read our profile data without TSW5 installed. Cheers.

So the running sounds of the cl. 170 are fixed?

I dont mean the diesel engine, i refere to the fact the unit has no other sound than the diesel.

If you coast and shut it down while moving, there is total silence like in a glider.

    1. Will the caltrain routes/locos be usable with TSW6 if you bought them prior to removal ?

    2. Will XC 170 be on both MML and BCC ?

The new Rivet pack along with the added AI traffic is exactly what BCC needed to become interesting for me. Seems like a well-rounded route on paper, but it has simply been too dull and lifeless until now. Might pick this up in the future.
I’m assuming the AI traffic is included in a completely timetable for the gameplay pack, must be very difficult to integrate the new playable services and AI into the existing base timetable.

I think there will be a Continental route. Usually German by sheer size (just a lot more rails there to choose from) but honestly they tend to blend together. Several routes cross borders so... same thing.

I did first misread that as "Australian" route which would be a lot more interesting to me. No chance of it, but was still amusing to think about. =-)

I purchased Train Sim World 5 mainly for three routes. Tadami Line, Great Western Express Remaster and the Dutch route. To see two out of these three routes pushed to Train Sim World 6 is very disappointing. I hope that Dovetail will be a more cautious in the future about creating expectations.

Other then that, there is some cool looking stuff on there.

So you bought a game for 3 things that weren't included with it and weren't even on the calendar?
    Okay.

Go for the free starter pack then. And pay for the Tadami line when it comes.

They were all on the roadmap.

You can. I enjoyed the other content, but I can still be disappointed with DTG announcing add-ons for a game but then not releasing them for said game.

I might for train sim world 6, depends on the release bundle routes.

You "might" get a free download?
    Hey, your call.
There's a few people still playing TSW 3 apparently and are quite fine with not owning anything after that.
    To each their own.

Welcome back JD (if only for tonight)!!!

I have missed your honesty, candour, humanity and total lack of sales aggression.

I wish you could stay doing this as it was the only reason I dialled in tonight

One final thought from me, looks like the Class 104 project has finally bitten the dust. Doesn't even rate a mention any more.

    Hi Operator,

It's okay if you have trouble understanding what I wrote in that post and my earlier one, but please be courteous enough to ask what I meant instead of coming to your own conclusions. To rephrase, I meant that I'll either get the free version or a paid version, depending on the bundles offered / TSW6 release routes.

    Fair enough.
The bundles are usually worth if for what you get, even without the value of an update.

The next iteration ie;TSW6, must get all the info "profiles save games, and anything else it may need from TSW5" if you remove TSW5, you will be able to import from TSW5.

£12.99 would be reasonable IMO. 380 was new loco and new timetable £12.99. This is 2 reskins and a new timetable. 2 reskins I suppose could be deemed similar enough to 1 new loco to warrant the same price.

Yes, I, too, am surprised and yet not surprised, which hand is doing what, that the other hand does not know of. As the old saying goes, to cooks spoil the soup.
