No worries - the core upgrade is free for the first few weeks after the game launches, so you're not being forced into buying anything. Your routes will work fine on the new TSW too.

Months, not weeks. It was around 4 months before the free starter pack for TSW5 was withdrawn, and somewhere in the TSW6 launch comms was something about it being around for longer this time.

I'm still holding out hope that this content can somehow be carried over. If it absolutely has to be unbranded, I'll learn to live with that.

Seeing as for TSW6 we are supposed to "expect the unexpected", maybe this is all going in a different direction. What if all the community projects from which the developers mysteriously could not comment on would do a comeback? Like an official announcement for something like a community pack including those projects or them getting announced in the pull a ticket series officially?

For US Locomotives, can we add a horn selector and Steel, mechanical or Bells for each Locomotives loaded in a pull up HUD menu?

Horn Selections I would recommend that haven't been added yet:

    P3, P5, a real K5LH, K3LA, First Generation K5LLA

I'm not one to follow orders, especially from a commercial entity, but let's entertain that we indeed expect the unexpected, as ordered.

    What should we expect?
    1. It would be unexpected if DTG has done something completely foreign to them. In fact, that would be improbable. By the Douglas Adams way of reasoning, this must mean that DTG has invented faster-than-light travel. I bet you didn't expect that!
    2. It would be unexpected if TSW was suddenly set in the future. So, by that reasoning, DTG has teamed up with CD Projekt Red and will release Night City Area Rapid Transit (NCART) as a route to be included in the game. I bet you didn't expect that!
    3. It would be unexpected if TSW would suddenly become a completely different game. Your character is now armed to the teeth, and your train is under constant attack from the zombies that have infested the routes! I bet you didn't expect that!
    4. It would be unexpected if DTG has changed owners again, and is now owned by Märklin. Yes, everything is scaled down to 1/87th, and no more British routes, as they would be in the wrong scale. Muahahahaha! I bet you didn't expect that!

Maybe a little more blunt than that? Unexpected faults, issues and occurrences in the bread and butter of the game. Think speed restrictions, broken signals, stranded units, platform alterations, leaves of the line, crossing gates stuck.. the type of things that Scenarios are built around, but randomised during timetable mode?

Aslong as any of the new features don't follow the example of dynamic weather which is faulty at the best of times!

Although TSW6 may fix that issue, who knows.

That’s probably what’s going on. It’s foreshadowing a core feature of random events in the timetable as requested often since day one of TSW and was an option to pick in the last winter survey.

    But…

Whenever anyone says “expect the unexpected” I always expect an elephant on a unicycle… and I am always disappointed when it isn’t an elephant on a unicycle, every time. I can’t think of a way that can be brought into TSW, so probably the random events thing.

What many users would like to see are announcements.

I hope that announcements will finally be added to trains and stations.
That would make TSW so much better.

But my hopes have not been fulfilled in any TSW so far.

I don’t really like the whole ‘expect the unexpected’ thing. There are still a lot of things missing from TSW, that you’d expect from a train simulator.

That being said, it probably doesn’t relate to TSW anyway.

Whatever core features we get for TSW6, I just hope they make everything else work before forcing yet another thing to be fixed into the game. TSW5 launch was pretty poor & I’m personally at the point where I’d be more impressed & convinced to purchase by actually seeing a well polished release for once, as opposed to ‘shiny new feature’ that gets inconsistently used (if it works at all).

I went on Stepford County Rail for a laugh the other day - I have to say, it did feel quite immersive with the announcements! Graphics are no where near TSW of course, and it is no where near being a replacement for it, but I do hope we get automated announcements in the game (station and on train) sooner rather than later - would make it feel more real and busy.

Excited for Dovetail Direct. Hopefully it will be a bunch of highly anticipated reveals and not just a raft of new Thomas content. Although of interest to some, I personally believe that this should have been created as a separate stand alone title due to it being fictional material and therefore not really suitable for "simulation". This is especially pertinent as there are SO MANY types that haven't yet been included and really should at least be high on the agenda (ie. Class 55, Class 91, various first generation dmus etc.)
I guess we will find out in a few weeks time. Fingers crossed.

I will allow them one Thomas reveal providing,1. It’s the actual Isle Of Sodor route(s) and, 2. It’s not part of core content.

Perhaps one of the new “IP” they have been developing is a separate Thomas spin off to abstract from the serious business of TSW.

The roadmap article doesn't mention a specific release date but does say that the pack will come before the Dovetail Direct on August 26th

Thomas Sim World. A new game, fully optimised on UE5 with zero bugs. Meanwhile Train Sim World 6 continues on via UE4 and no bug fixes. These forums would melt.

I stake the GWR, that had to be an updated route for TSW5, will be one of the three routes in TSW6 (like san bernardino line for tsw5).

This makes a lot of sense to me. Random faults already exist in the game (on the expert BR101). Seems plausible to expand to "route-wide" faults like, especially, stranded units and TSRs.

A lot seems to depend on whether they've been able to upgrade the dispatcher to handle on-the-fly timetable changes like that.

I wonder if an AI programme of sorts could achieve it within the realms of the game? I suppose it would just need raw data like service type (express, stopper, freight etc), length, destination, loading gauge and so on..

I remember trying to intentionally mess up the Watford DC services at Euston by occupying their platforms, but it wasn’t silly enough to route them elsewhere, even though they had AC capacity.

The game can’t even handle running the fully scripted timetable for more than a few hours before the signalling breaks down, sometimes it doesn’t even take an hour. Throw in the fact that save game never got fully rectified either & I think it’s extremely unlikely, if not impossible that we’ll ever see random events.

I think a better & potentially more possible idea would be a ‘modifier’ option for when you pick a service, where you can insert TSR’s, swap traction around, change destination or pathing etc.

    Just make it work reliably!!!

spoiler: they won’t. They’ll announce new shiny routes and trains and probably a substantial price tag for them. The game will still have numerous bugs and errors.

The same reason phone companies release new phones that are pretty much the same as the ones they replace: money.

People are more likely to buy something that's "new". Even more so when they don't have the "old" version.

Like expected, most of the comments here have nothing to do with an upcoming TSW6 release, but with criticism on the game in general. There are other threads for that.

On topic: I don't care if they release a new iteration of the game every year. That fact should be considered a given by now. All I care about is being able to keep playing my existing content on it, so I'll download the free starter pack and do just that. I'll pick up the base routes if they appeal to me and probably no earlier than the fist patch.

Extending the route has been entirely ruled out

They already confirmed it won't be a ckre route as well.

Beside I'd rather get 3 brand new routes and the the free remaster when it comes.
