NI does have the scenic route out to Derry (or Londonderry if you wish) plus the Portrush branch, but very much a one trick pony for operations. DMU operation, little or no freight though if you set in an earlier period would get the NIR version of the Thumpers in game. Also the Video 125 cab ride, at the time it was produced, showed a substantial amount of jointed track still in situ, unlike the UK network where NR seem intent on installing CWR on every part used siding. :)

    Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo.

Although Pompey to Guildford or Woking might be more realistic.

Chiltern Mainline, London to Birmingham, or half the route as far as Banbury, if the whole route is not possible.

I voted for London as l would like to see both the Metropolitan Line and the Piccadilly Line but also the Chiltern Line via High Wycombe.

But when talking about Ireland in a uk context there’s only one. I get you for an International Conversation but that’s not what this is about.

since this thread mentions only uk places so you can’t really mistake the two since normal Ireland isn’t apart of the uk

it’s not clear if there was a mistake though, it’s we’ll known the republic is referred more conveniently as Ireland and Northern Ireland isn’t.

not saying op doesn’t just saying there’s plenty of people who can’t explain the difference

but that’s the end of my say on this, I know how easy threads decend when politics enters the chat :)

Carlisle to Leeds would be nice, even better if it's set in the BR Blue era because then you've got a connection between Preston to Carlisle and Northern Trans-Pennine routes for hopping purposes.

I think the Orkneys would be a great choice. Straightforward modelling and probably few operational bugs.

What would you want recreated? The Herring Railway? The Military railway, or the more recent Sanday Light Railway?

Could always go the diverse and fair route and head to the east, north east and wales for the next 3 U.K. routes.

Lots of stuff in the north east they could do, good region for time differences aswell

‘cough cough’ Tyne and Wear metro
Ideal as either the newer class 555 or the older 994 could be used for loco dlc perhaps more appropriate with 2 timetables. Bit of PZB in the U.K. aswell and Azuma Layers.

We need more UK third rail lines maybe a TSW version of Southampton to Bournemouth or further?

That would be good, but much better, if it included the heritage branch line from Keighley to Oxenhope, that is the KWVR.

GEML London to Ipswich and/or Clacton or C2C/the LTS for me (though whether South Essex counts as "East Anglia" is a moot point), though West Anglia from London to Cambridge/Stansted Airport or the Wherry Lines (Norwich to Yarmouth & Lowestoft) would also be welcome.

Newcastle to Edinburgh is very North East England and I'd love to see it. Not much in the way of local services south of the border with Northern running mostly as far as Morpeth but LNER and Cross Country services throughout using IETs and 220s and an hourly Scotrail service from Berwick with 385s. So plenty do put in the Timetable. Would be nice if they could back-date it a little so we can have a mixture of HSTs, 91s and IET workings for LNER and a mixture of 380s and 385s on Scotrail trains.

Was that the sort of thing you were thinking of?

But for the thousandth time this is about uk railways and there’s only one Ireland that’s apart of the uk, being Northern Ireland hence why it’s obvious

How about asking the OP nicely if they can change the "Ireland" to "Northern Ireland" or, alternatively change the title to include "UK and the Republic of Ireland"?
Otherwise we're just going off-piste in a thread that was purely for fun conjecture about what routes we'd like to see. We're in the same customs union and I consider Ireland to be very close friends of the UK. I'd hate for anyone to get offended when we're not discussing politics, history or anything else that could end-up causing offense to our friends in the community who read this.

I think most people in here understand that the Republic of Ireland is not a part of the UK anyway. The point has been made, but just in case anyone from further afield doesn't know the difference....GB is everything on the British Mainland. UK is GB plus Northern Ireland. And the Republic of Ireland isn't a part of either but is a lovely place to visit if you've not yet had the pleasure.

Back on the topic of this thread with regards to NI - although I wouldn't have worded it the same way, Vern's point about the variety of rolling stock is a good one that highlights why a route based over here would be a good choice. The two DMU classes are very similar, so once one was built, it wouldn't be so much trouble to make the other. Both classes are seen on all lines, which makes layering and substitution more straightforward (with the exception of the 6-car C4K variant, which seem to run mostly on the Derry~Londonderry Line, but I guess those could be omitted in this case).

There are several lovely scenic spots that come to mind across the country - Downshire on the north shore of Belfast Lough by Kilroot Power Station and the stretch out Glynn way on the Larne Line; the famous view at Downhill, the Roe Railway Bridge and Foyle Waterside at the end of the Derry~Londonderry Line, and the Shipyards and Belfast City Airport on the way out to Bangor to name just a few.

I'll keep banging this drum until I'm blue in the face, but NI really should be represented in TSW, it's a brilliant railway network.
