Hmm, maybe it wasn't crystal clear. Basically it goes like this: Store gets sent an update> Store either accepts or rejects the update> if the update is rejected, the Team will need to be in and make the adjustments the store requests> pretty much do this process until all the stores say they like it and it's approved. Final Approval> Everyone gets an update! Edit: I've had to send several updates for approval for other games where I was a CM and Dev, and if somehow the words or code somewhere don't meet store compliance, they send it back.
Armistice Day is NOT a public holiday here in the UK unfortunately. Just a normal workday for one and all.
Ah, that I don't know. I know some folks were out, so I figured that was it. A couple of folks said they had a holiday, so it may just be pre-planned time off. I wasn't off, though, so I'm just sitting and waiting on an update like y'all are right now.
Appreciate the response! That does help understand the process a bit better! So its kind of an 'open ticket' it gets sent.. changes can be made.. and as soon as the other end say OK it goes out all in one go? That definitely makes more sense that what i had pictured in my mind!
Yeah, pretty much. I'm glad that helps! I know sometimes I may not always explain stuff as well as I can, so I'm sorry for the confusion. I can say right now everything is just waiting on that process, and I'll update as soon as I can. I suspect we'll see the update on Friday, but I can't guarantee it. I know we had like 20 games pulled from various platforms with another production team I worked with due to an update to GDPR one time. That was a fun time I never want to experience again.
The route is starting to grow on me more. The 350 is not too bad to drive and of course Stafford to Crewe is long enough to allow all of the traction to stretch its legs a little bit. However i would still be nice to see the fixes delivered sooner rather than later, particularly for the timetable.
Had been playing on main layers only (Series X) with zero issues so took the plunge and activated a couple more (390, Voyager, 66) but got as far as Stafford (from Crewe) before the blurriness kicked in. Didn’t see a 66 or Voyager during that time, so assume it’s not them causing it. Oh well, back to the bare minimum for now. As an aside, the route itself I’m enjoying a lot. Still can’t get over just how well modelled Crewe station is. I’m from there originally so have spent a lot of time on its platforms and it’s just so well done. And as a Crewe Alex supporter, appreciate them getting Gresty Road right too!
Since I was helping with reporting the bugs, I have been given the route, as I needed to see about reproducing a few things. It's a really good route, and I'm not just saying that; I have no investment in the route and not a lot to compare it to, as I don't know much about the route IRL. I've only done a couple of runs, but I've liked it so far. I've also heard that, as feedback that it has a few bugs and flaws, but folks like it anyway.
Crewe definitely looks better than how it was depicted in SoS, where the whole thing looks like it was built to HO scale to fit on a OO layout. Actually I was pondering last night, pending release of the JT route, to get from London to Scotland in TSW we have to do the following steps… Euston to MKC on WCMLS. Jump to Birmingham then Birmingham to Crewe. (Suppose in theory you could also jump to Redditch and use Cross City into New Street first). Crewe to Liverpool on SoS. Jump to Ormskirk then into Preston on BPO. Preston to Carlisle on WCMLoS. Finally a rather large jump to Newton on Cathcart Circle for the final run into Glasgow Central.
It's like being bilingual in the same language; we already know the words, but they mean different things.
Wow so the next patch/ bug fix update for this route is delayed till December now ??? ! wow just wow .... so we buy a DLC released in October and to have a basic bug free gameplay experience we have to wait till December ? what type of business model is this ? If the DLC was not in a ready to release state ...why was it released in october in the first place ?
I think because their plan is to do core updates every 2 weeks then because it missed this slot due to continued testing then December would be the next most likely time for updates. That doesn't negate the point that the route probably wasn't ready for consoles due to improper testing, but just saying that's why resolving this is dragging on.
I really wish that I were coming with some better news, but I would rather have the QA finish and the route be it's very best. The last thing I had been told it was waiting on approval from the store. Edit for clarity: AABS let me know that they wanted to do more QA so it is perfect come December, so it was pulled for that reason. Latest Update: A Note On Birmingham-Crewe Improvements From our previous announcements, we had planned a wider range of improvements for the recent Birmingham-Crewe route to align with this update; however, whilst these changes are still undergoing testing and quality assurance from our teams, we're taking more time to ensure they're ready to be released as you'd expect. We apologise that we've not been able to deliver these improvements to the timeline we originally communicated, and we hope to have more news on when you can expect these in December. We're grateful for the feedback shared from the community, and we'll continue passing these notes to the development teams to support the route as best as possible when we're able to share the updates. I hate this for y'all, as I was super excited to share the latest patches and fixes, and I wish I had better news to share, too. Here are the full patch notes if you can't find them
This should of been done when it was released, now 2 patches in and still no update to my issues I really would like a refund through steam on this DLC it should never of been released like it is!! I don't even go on the route anymore because if the issue! this really isn't acceptable In my opinion.
I understand, trust me when I say that. I can't personally do anything about refunds or the like. I'd advise putting in a support ticket, as they might be more help with that issue: https://support.dovetailgames.com/ If you're out of the time frame, I would suggest waiting for the next update, as I know there were some great patches coming, but I'd rather it be fully QA'd and finalized myself.
So the route shouldn't have been released if it was ready. If it is showing that the route is not working well on consoles then further testing and QA should be carried out on the console then released. If you are just basing it on the PC version then thinking it'll be fine on console, I feel a change in how content is released might need looking at. Older editions used to release on the PC first with consoles around 4 weeks later or more.
I know its not your fault and I appreciate your communication, but it really should never of been released in the state it is in. They clearly knew the issues were their but wanted to cash in now. just doesn't sit right with me I'm afraid.
I have a feeling it was one of those cases where if they didn't release it when they did, then the route would've cost more than its worth. Hence the "release now patch later" attitude.
So is the route still avaliable to purchase on console or has it been removed from sale for being broken?! I feel I alredy know the answer... but doesn't that not prove this is nothing but a cash grab.. It wasnt ready for release day 1.. it still isnt.. and wont be till December (at least)... yet its still for sale for anyone who isnt on the fourms ect...? And well out the refund window for those who were stupid enough to buy it day 1 (me included) This is new lows.. even for DTG..
I just hope the creators of this route IE "All Aboard Studios" getting a good kicking for releasing this pile of dogs do do, And hope DTG take note of this all for any further DLCs from them.
DTG being the publisher controls when this route went out.. I guess we will never know if the 3rd party ever voiced an opinion saying different (but id guess they would) Some blame should go towards the 3rd party sure.. but ultimately your pointing your finger in the wrong direction..
I know for this route that's a huge part of the testing they are doing right now. As for DTG, I know they are looking into more testing on the QA side for consoles, which is why we've had some less concrete release dates for upcoming content. I think going forward, I'll check if we have QA delays and announce them. Huh, I didn't know consoles got a delayed release, that's good to know.
I know it's not how any of us wanted the release to go, I promise you this wasn't what we wanted for y'all. It's still in the store and will remain there, as I haven't been told any differently.
I can't say one way or another. I came in as it was announced and as it was released, so I haven't been here for any prior news there. I would tell y'all if I did know anything.
I am going to say this, there's no ill will towards the studio. Some hefty lessons were learned, but the studio has been very communicative about fixes, and I know that both DTG and AABS devs have been working hard to fix a lot of the errors that people have seen. I know the release did not go the way anyone wanted. So do know that the teams have been working to make changes and adjust after this situation happened.
- the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers digital goods, establishing rights for consumers regarding digital content like apps, music, and e-books. These rights mean that digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If digital content is faulty, consumers are entitled to a repair or replacement from the trader. Fit for purpose: The digital content must be fit for a particular purpose made known to the trader, either by the consumer or the trader themselves. As described: It must match any description provided by the trader, including any pre-contract information. Remedies: If digital content doesn't conform to the contract (i.e., it's faulty), you are entitled to require the trader to repair or replace it. So yeah but keeping it on stores (i believe) DTG are braking the consumer laws... you know its faulty... you know it wont be fixed until December.. yet are keeping it avaliable for purchase... and refusing any refunds (by not telling us till its out of refund window) (For reference..) https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/part/1/chapter/3 -now I am also just a lowly mechanic not a lawyer... but thats how I see this whole thing
The problem is, Steam seem to skirt around that. Back when the route first released and prior to the initial round of fixes after playing for more than two hours*, thought I would try for a refund. Obviously rejected by the bot, so used the method to submit the ticket to a live operative. That got rejected with a standard spiel so submitted a reply quoting as unfit for purpose under UK consumer law which was ignored. In the end I just closed the ticket as, in fairness, the first round of fixes did improve matters apart from the timetable. The gist of the response from Steam was, though, tough it’s up to the publisher to fix it once your gameplay has exceeded the refund threshold. The upshot of that is I’m simply being far more cautious about what and when I buy for TSW and that extends to forthcoming 3P stuff including the new JT route. * With the only reason I’d played over two hours being having to finish a run on another route first, due to the lousy lack of extra save slots. I’d actually played Crewe to Birmingham about 45 minutes.
Yeah.. im no lawyer.. and i imagine there is several loopholes unfortunately.. Just does not sit right with me, I only joined this fourm recently.. before then I was completely "out the loop".. i dont do traditional social media.. i lurk on reddit and thats about it... the only time I would "hear" from DTG was when something new came out and 9/10 times i would blindly just spend! 6 came around.. EA was broke i found this place got regular updates.. Now im starting to see Discord is become the "hub" (I definitely wont be going to that platform) and I wonder if thats to stop them being held accountable in public like this... To keep the "out the loop" fishes from getting in the loop and changing their spending habits!! Anyway I got distracted... fully agree I will not be spending any more money till at least the new year and see how things go.. i have enough old content that (mostly) works to last a life time!
All Aboard are new to the scene, you don't know what you don't know, till someone helps you out and tells you... It's clear DTG rushed this DLC out, and didn't give All Aboard much needed feedback and the time to do a second pass through QC before release. There were multiple issues on the preview stream a week before release, when the build would already have gone out to stores, that Matt make light hearted jokes about "being fixed for release" and "log that issue".... which DTG should have picked up and fed back for the route to be top notch before release, but as usual it's a case of DTG money money money greed. Missing arrival times and other anomolies with the timetable should have been corrected on a first phase QC process, they should never have gotten through to a preview stream and subsequent release. All Aboard got done dirty with this release, reminds me of DTG knowing Rivet content is unfinished, but slap it out anyways.
The route should be pulled from sale until such time as it is fit for purpose. whilst I appreciate that DTG and All Aboard are separate entities neither of you are doing the other any favours. The route is not fit for purpose, it is extremely disappointing and for those coming to TSW for the first time it would likely put them off the sim. Fortunately the high quality Riveria line will counter this some. But, inferior and incomplete releases should not be rewarded. The route should not be able to be bought by anyone else until such time as the patches fix the problems. Assuming they do!
Class 350s still not been updated yet, announcements seems to think its at London Euston at every station (This is London Euston), but then states other destinations along route. Good try though.
Yep on the announcements, I was doing a sown service from Brimingham and at every station it said we were approaching Crewe, but otherwise, the announcements were correct. Also, with this service 9F36a 350-2, I ran into a mess at Staford. Was coming into platform 5 and everything on that side of the station was looking at stop signals. Deleted 2 trains and everything started moving. The upside was moving fine as well as down trains taking that junction just south of the station.
