From what I understand you'd have to create the GWR 387 in a way that GWR would be happy with. Like the license would dictate what you can and can't do officially. I imagine modders can/will do it though.

Kind of like how ATS are showing the 90 with different liveries that are unbranded until what they can/can't do is finalised/approved with the appropriate companies and they can show the branding.

Plus if DTG did if officially they'd want to make the right subclass of 387 and not reskin the wrong one.

Isn't Heathrow Express a no-go licencing wise? If so I don't get why the unbranded version was removed, since the opportunity to create a branded version probably won't arise.

Yes if it was a playable service GWR would probably want all the interiors to be correctly branded/labelled.

    Nope.

I was quite hopeful, but not a jot of difference unfortunately.

So the route will only use one 387 and not two. If GWR 387 was to be released, then that would be used as HEX base, if they left GAX 387 as HEX, then you would need Brighton Mainline for one class 387 to layer on the route, and GWR 387 DLC to have the other class 387 layer. So it's better to give us neither.

Many screenshots from consoles don't even look like 4K, as if the built-in upscaler increases the resolution.

Personally, I'm quite disappointed that there are no 387s included in the timetable for the Hayes & Harlington runs as it was shown to include on page one of this thread.

I guess it came down to a theoretical 387 coming in the future so we won't do it now & we'll make players wait even longer so it's less work for them to add it in in the future. Hopefully someone can mod the timetable to include the 387s.

Without including this, the DLC doesn't really include much in the realm of modern traction to the route, just more variations of 166s/43s & 1 test run 802 plus some core changes to bring it up to modern day standards. I do hope the 387 can be re-entered unbranded to include this gameplay.

There's a lot of differences between the 2, both exterior and interior. Plus costs that can come with using a branded logo/image/livery.

I think if I read between the lines correctly, I'm under the impression DTG are probably in the process of trying to create an official GWR 387 behind the scenes, hence the move to withhold the unbranded 387 services in the remaster.

If we look at how many layers feature on this route, it would be odd to pull one of the layers for no reason. With Liams eye for detail I'd be surprised if he just removed it... I'd imagine he'd only remove the unbranded layer because there is a official one in the pipeline somewhere, which is unannounced or atleast the vision. Which in the long run, players would prefer a officially branded GWR 387 if I've read the room right.

The Inter7City HST is in the pipelines somewhere, and I'd imagine a GWR 387 would be just behind that. Liam wouldn't remove a layer unless he thought something of substance and officially branded and better is being developed behind the scenes.

    Well thats my theory anyway!

It does include the 350 that runs the Heathrow Connect services, and that was only added later. Don't forget to mention that.

Thats alright I suppose. One of the things that caught my interest was the mention of an ex-C2C 387, so it'd be nice if that could be included with an accurate interior if/when an official version releases.

They’d only gotten the GWR license back a little too late into development of this remaster. Also since the current 387 available is a /2 subclass there are minor differences in the interior layout so you couldn’t just slap a reskin and call it a day.

I’m wondering if with those if the service will start at Hayes & Harlington or at the Airport Junction right outside the tunnel to Heathrow

I think thats not in line with a license agreement. The owner of the licence has to give confirmation for such things mostly and it will not reflect a GWR real train.

Console screenshots are usually saved at 1080p by default. You have to change the screenshot setting if you want it saved in 4K anyway.

With the amount of stuff added, I'm personally not going to lose sleep over not having 387's in the timetable. Although I will say, if the not having a 387 is because an official one is coming I hope it's part of a route. Personally I'd love Reading - Newbury - *whatever the next major station is*. I know it'd be weird using the 387 when it only covers part of route, but I really want a route where we can utilise the bi-mode capabilities of the 802. Plus I used to live somewhere down there so it'd be nice to see the first station I ever went to in the game

I’d happily pay for either or both GWR/HEX 387s .. would just as a preference like them represented :)

Yes, but they don't look good at 1080p either. Here are my screenshots in this resolution...

I will happily pay for a GWR reskin of the 387, as I was looking forward to driving them on the Hayes and Harlington shuttles.

I suspect there is likely one in developement, if that is so I am not sure why DTG haven't said so.

However it is free remaster and a vast improvement on the original so I think it is a little churlish to complain.

Absolutely no complaining from me and super looking forward to it… and would be amazing to have 387s as dlc down the line, or as part of another route

I honestly believe it could be to do with licensing first off and it's probably upcoming for some DLC for the route. It's probably DTG's way of getting some revenue out of this since it's a "free" upgrade

Just what that’s been said over a few threads and discord, idk what it’s such a slow return, it’s also the reason why there’s no roadmap this month

In the december roadmap stream (december 18), Alex mentioned that it would be within 1-2 months. So it will be january 15th at the earliest (and that's optimistic).

It doesn't matter when they take it, they are human beings, not drones who are slaves to this game 24/7...

My guess is that it'll hopefully drop sometime this month. That's atleast how is interpret 'early in the new year'.

It's amazing how some seem to think that the annual leave policy of a private company is any concern of theirs!

Please, please don’t make us wait until February for this route. We’ve all waited long enough now. This month has to be “the month”.

Presumably it'll behave like other off route services - you drive it to and from Hayes, the AI does the rest.

Employees in the UK have to be given a minimum of 20 days' holiday per year. Some choose to take that time at Christmas so they can see their families. This shouldn't be a shock or a cause for outrage (unless you live in a country with worse employment rights, like the US).

In my industry and in manufacturing in general it is usual to shutdown over Christmas, in fact I know very few people who don't.

Some of us self employed do not have the luxury of 20 days paid holiday a year unfortunately!!

I want to say I can’t believe this thread has deteriorated into people complaining about peoples’ PTO, but it’s par for the course around here. :)

Keeping things on topic, I’d expect this to be released in February. More than happy to wait another month for this since it looks amazing. So much quality work from the previews.

Now my only question is seen that there a decent amount of DLC required to get the full capabilities and timetables. If I don’t have a few of them purchased/installed, will AI trains on the route just not run or will they be replaced by the compatible train that I do have purchased/installed?

I believe, the way it works is, if you don't have the relevant DLC downloaded then the services for the aforementioned DLC simply won't run.

Alex did say there’s a few exciting things coming Feb, my guess would be the GWE:R release and the announcement of a new gameplay pack for the route, maybe like a GWR 387 or something

But on the plus side, you don't need to go grovelling to some grey fella in a grey suit if you need Friday off. Nor do you have to attend the annual all staff meeting where Directors explain why we did well enough for them to get dividend payouts but we didn't do well enough to have working heating in the office or an inflation-adjacent pay rise.

And just look what 36 years of office life has done to my sanity.

Maybe then we will get the Scotrail 43 info finally.

    Just to clarify;

The Inter7City HST sets are essentially confirmed after being found next to the 377/3 & 171 pack by Rivet. But have nothing to do with the GWE remaster.

The official GWR 387 is purely speculation at this point. However, there does seem a high likelihood of it happening given the unbranded 387 has been pulled to make room for it should it come to fruition.

Two entirely separate things, so people don't get confused!

But who knows, the official GWR 387 might come along with the HST farewell pack?
