While PC player numbers continue to grow, PlayStation is significantly larger.

I tend to avoid discord unless using it specifically for a multi-player game, which is its original purpose.
It's not conducive to a longer discussion or posting things in depth.
Since this isn't a multi-player game requiring real-time chat I have no use for it for this game.
I can see how they want to use it though since it's "what all the kids are using these days."
They seem to be fairly responsive to the forum (so far) so fingers crossed they'll be able to keep both going.

There are probably people playing this game that don't use anything that DTG use to communicate, whether that be YouTube, Discord, these forums etc.

The figures show that game sales on PC has been on the rise and above console sales for the last 10 years.
But now console sales are on the rise and slightly higher than the PC last year and probably this year.
Although you can't go by these figures to work out how many tsw players there are any platform.
Only dtg can answer that one. What's it bloody matter anyway.

Exec Producer of the game on last month's roadmap: skewed much more towards console now, steam hasn't shrunk, its still growing, but there's an awful lot of PlayStation players out there.

    The vast majority in fact.

As is the case for most games and especially the case when the player base trends, cough, cough, slightly older.

I didn't use the forums for ages playing this game, other than to very occasionally try and find an answer to a bug or glitch I encountered.

I didn't join here until TSW3 if I remember right (might have been TSW2), and even then that was only because I came across an issue with the game.

I coped perfectly fine without even these forums until then. So it's possible to survive without Discord as well, even if DTG use that.

Come to think of it, I don't really watch their live streams either.

So really I only privy to what is shared on the forums.

I don't like Discord. I don't like its layout and how it encourages "hot takes" rather than informed discussion.

I won't be using it. Even if the forum should go.

I would argue it’s just a more real time version of the forums. It can be difficult to find what you need here because there can be several threads created that discuss the same topic with plenty veering off into uninformed discussion. It just seems more coordinated because it’s in a thread vs creating a new “comment” on discord (which is essentially the same thing).

Hi DTG Alex, just so you you can "see this conversation" I've pinged you as well now so there is no excuse for not answering :)

To which class 170 were those patch notes referring?

Why has it been impossible to get an answer when I know the question has been seen repeatedly, not just because i posted it and it got moved to another forum without a reply but also because someone else also asked the same question, got a reply from another community manager to say dtg were investigating but never received any follow-up?

Yourself and other community managers were pinged in the thread i posted which you or another community manager moved without responding to so how come none of you "saw those conversations?"

They should give you a response, but if you keep spamming asking for a reply, the chance they give you a reply is much lower. The people who move your posts or thread aren’t the same people that review them/are community managers, they just managing the organization of the forum. So by adding more and more posts, it’s hurting your chances of the issue being seen.

Raising it here should hopefully get some visibility for it though so it can at least be looked into.

Not too hard for them to pass the message on and for someone who knows the answer to reply.

Agreed, but that’s usually not that persons role. I don’t know how the forums here are structured though but usually that’s on the community managers and the people who manage the forum solely do that function. Again not sure how DTG sets up their social media/forum team, so maybe that’s different here.

Alex will probably respond a little later, we've been insanely busy these last couple of weeks with various things.

I did send this up, and we were waiting on a more detailed answer, I'm pretty sure I responded in there; if not, I meant to, but may have had to go handle an issue and didn't get the chance to post, so I apologize if I forgot to hit "Post Reply". So we're just waiting on information; however, spamming another post, and the 3 or 4 others I've seen, isn't going to get the answer sooner. We're waiting on a Dev to clarify some questions for us and will respond as soon as we can.

I also don't know why it was moved unless it was just in the wrong area for the post.

Hi, yes you did reply saying you were speaking to a dev.

My point with the above posts though was really that I'm just a bit miffed when i saw Alex saying that they do respond if they see questions posted, yet the question about the 170 never got answered even though it was definitely seen, moved and locked in a filling cabinet in the basement. It wasn't until you came along so i thought I'd also ask you about it that you did kindly answer.

On a more positive note, what might help is if there was more obvious input and communication from dovetail in the feedback threads similar to the way you've been interacting in the Birmingham Crewe thread? For some of the other threads, it seems like a DLC will get launched, the thread gets opened and maybe a community manager might post for the first few days but then silence.

That's where my sarcasm over the 170 originates, i posted so many times in the Fife circle feedback thread along with others that the sounds were broken and it was continually met with silence, not even a "we are aware and investigating" so my sarcasm level started rising with each post! Even someone from dovetail replied with "we're aware and it's not going to be fixed" that at least would be better than no response imo.

(I'll try and dial down the sarcasm in future posts...!)

Just tried to edit the above post but getting "Your content can not be submitted. This is likely because your content is spam-like or contains inappropriate elements. Please change your content or try again later. If you still have problems, please contact an administrator."

    It should say:
Even if someone from dovetail replied with "we're aware and it's not going to be fixed" that at least would be better than no response imo

I personally enjoy the sarcasm, but the spam posting is just going to get ignored. If you were working on their team and saw someone post every day asking the same thing (especially sarcastically), I don’t know how you’d react but I’d ignore it as just spamming. Have to pick one or the other, serious spam or sarcastic one post. :)

If i was working on their team and saw someone asking the same question everyday that multiple other posters had asked and hadn't received a reply to I'd go out of my way to provide an answer because that seems like the decent thing to do and would also stop the question being asked.

No matter how unpalatable that answer might be, rather than constantly ignoring it and making the person who paid for the product which once worked but was broken by a later patch feel like they're being ignored it might be better to be honest?

Well you are better than me because I would just ignore it after all of the spamming. :)
But like I said, now that it’s been responded back to, hopefully we get the answers, if not getting the issue fixed.

I get that error too, if I only adjust a few things like spelling or grammar. The forums do what they want.

It's because you're not altering enough in your edit. Make your alteration and then type+delete some random waffle (I just copy/paste/delete the random waffle I've already submitted;)) at the end of your comment before attempting 'save changes'.

I mainly post from a tablet so typing something which looks at least semi-legible is hard enough as is without me having to edit multiple times.

As an example, if you want the first part of the sentence from above using auto-suggest and without editing:

I mainly part from a tablet so going dosing which looks at least Zulu legible is hard with as is

Hmmm. Maybe i make more sense if i don't correct?

An example of Discord vs. Forum was discovered purely by accident after discovering one of TSS videos on YT detailing a recent Q&A with Matt and Alex, who should be posting a summary for forum users too.

Among key issues that were covered...
    1. Definitely no more Swiss standard gauge routes, which we pretty much knew but assumed just SBB would also appear to rule out BLS. So people might as well cease posting ideas in the Suggestions forum.
    2. A route to Rostock was started in the early days after RT but was scrapped due to being too similar to its predecessor.
    3. No plans to remaster Oakville though appears Matt is interested in Canadian content, with a vibe towards Rogers or Kicking Horse Pass.

Now maybe I just didn't get the memo if this stuff actually appeared on the forum but think it would have been picked up by the eagle eyed regulars if it had.

And special thanks to Train Sim Society for keeping us second class forum citizens in the loop.

I really think that with the new mountain textures someone ought to start doing the Rocky Mountain passes. Having been to them, both in the States and Canada they really are a spectacular drive and rank with some of the finest scenery in the world, plus of course sexy long freight trains snaking up torturous routes.

A link to watch a recording of the Q&A session on youtube is posted in the Announcements section of the forum. I’m an eagle eyed forum regular and have managed to spot all of these but they don’t have a full thread about them so can easily be missed. It’s one of the downsides of them being posted in the announcements that nobody can comment on them so there’s no associated forum conversations that occur afterwards.

There’s three of them so far. The 9th, 16th and 23rd December sessions. They all have a yellow “New Video” tag in the menu.

Fair comment, but I don't really have time or want to wade through long video sessions when a written summary could be provided for the key points here on the forum. A classic example of where the Community Managers should, well, be managing.

Definitely. It can be a bit tedious watching the Q&A “as it happened” due to the questions being spoken as well as the answers. I wouldn’t watch them if it wasn’t for the ability to watch youtube at x2 speed or faster.

Thanks for the tip. I started to watch the last session ( Dec 23rd ) and found it so tedious I switched off after a few minutes.

" What's your favorite Christmas gift, Alex? " is not the kind of Q&A I'm looking for. Does it get better?

As addition to my previous post, TSS does a very good job of summarizing all these things.
I watched a Q&A and most things are kind of ***** and mostly useless questions.

I prefer the forum, it’s easier to follow.

Incidentally does anyone know why the DTG City Transport Simulator forum has been locked?

I was talking about there being videos of the Discord Q&A sessions on youtube and it’s the links to them that are on the forum (mainly for those forum members who are not on Discord but still want to watch the Q&A). Vern was asking if the Discord sessions were summarised on the forum after they had taken place so I replied that there are links to actually watch them back. Those are the Q&A sessions we were talking about. I don’t think there are any forum Q&A sessions other than the ones for the roadmap every month, no open “ask anything” sessions like on Discord.
There are a lot of those kind of things and questions that won’t be answered like “Are there any routes coming in Italy?” and these get through because there’s no triage of the spoken questions. That’s the format. That’s Discord. But there are the occasional good questions and it is moderately interesting to hear people’s voices, names you’ve known for years on the forum sounding nothing like you would imagine. Having the ability to whizz through the bad bits is essential for me, I would hate to be on Discord and sit through it live. It’s probably best to watch Train Sim Society’s summary videos as he does cover the important stuff but he is paraphrasing what Matt says, so you may miss something if he misses it or misinterprets it.

Because DTG and the developer went separate ways, so DTG are no longer providing any support. Bit like what happened with FSX-SE I guess. Not sure why they haven’t taken down the section at this point as the game is long gone now.

It sums up the discord membership quite well and another reason why I’ve no intention of joining that community.

They get the EP on a live Q&A and his limited time is used to find out what his favourite Christmas present is.

Transcript of the last Q&A part 1, in chunks due to post length limits(warning, v lengthy)
    00:00
audio set up. Hi YouTube. This is another Q&A session on the 23rd of December, 2025. Um, wow. Hi, Matt. >> Hello. >> All right, we're just setting up here. So, um, everyone, welcome to another Q&A session. And, uh, you know, shout out to Mr. Fancy Quacker for being here first.
    00:20
I forgot you on the last videos, but yes, you were in here first. Um, so, uh, we we do these semi-regularly now, which is great. Um it's wonderful to see another 80 plus people in the call which is awesome. Um and again these are just a casual check-in with um for today it's
    00:35
going to be myself and Matt. So you'll get a bit of insight from community and a lot of insight from dev um from Matt's side. Um and the goal here is to just have a conversation with people from our community onetoone. Talk to us. Ask us questions about the game. Um tell us
    00:49
things that you're struggling with or tell us things that you love. Um these are really great. One thing that we're still doing with these sessions is trying to understand exactly what they are, what we should do in them. Um, but one thing we've learned, I think, so far
    01:02
is what they're not. Um, this is not a suggestion space. Suggestions are fantastic. As a note, though, suggestions are really important. They help our team assess like what you want to see from content. They help us see what what interests you, what content
    01:17
you love, what locos, what regions of the world you want to explore. suggestions are great and we have places for those but it's not this cool um because we want to have a dialogue and whenever the suggestion comes up a lot of the time that dialogue is just sounds
    01:30
cool can't commit to anything so it just kind of nullifies the point and I think um what we're finding in these Q&A sessions is it takes away time from other people um and other people may have questions or thoughts or things that they feel really important to talk
    01:45
about but if a suggestion comes up um what I'm going to be doing in this session and And again, it's not about being rude. It's just about directing suggestions to the right place. But if a suggestion is being read, I will just move you back to the audience. No hard
    01:57
feelings, but simply just it's not the space for it. Um, but what I would say is please check out our suggestions form in either the Discord or the forums because we do look through them and we do look at them and they're really great and I think the more detail you put in,
    02:09
the more love you put in, it's wonderful and it is fantastic to hear them, but not not here and not today. Um, so with that said, uh, everyone here, you are being recorded and I think there's a wonderful message in the chat, uh, somewhere from Raph, uh, that talks
    02:24
about, um, some some notes on that. So, take take a look at this. But, uh, what that means is if you're going to come up, if you're going to put your hand up and you're going to talk to us, it will be put on an unlisted video on YouTube, not a public one, but you can find it in
    02:36
various community spots. So, just as long as you're comfortable with that, um, you know, your words won't be used against you in any form at all. It's just you'll be on a video. So, uh, hopefully it's still, uh, engaging for enough of you. But anyway, with that
    02:48
said, we're going to focus on just talking with people and have some some questions come up. Um, just before we get to the first hands, and I think we've got a list of seven already, which is great. Remember that Spirit Estee is free for anyone that owns TSW 6. So,
    03:02
surprise. That was our kind of final reveal alongside the wonderful stuff that's happening with the Great Western Express remaster. Um, you can get Spirit Esteem on all of our platforms completely free for a limited time um, until 5th of January and all you need to
    03:17
do is go to the store page. As long as you own TSW6, uh, you can just you can just claim it. It's just 100% free. So, um, and if you don't own TSW6, hey, it's a great time to pick it up because it's 40% off pretty much everywhere as well. So, um, hopefully that was a wonderful one for
    03:33
those of you. And I've seen some I've seen some amazing messages from people that have picked it up for the first time and never tried Steam and I I I think that's really wonderful. So, um it's great to see. Uh right, I think I saw a message about my camera being broken, but it seems
    03:49
fine for me. Matt, am I moving about? >> Yeah, you're looking fine to my to me as well. Yeah. >> Okay. Well, as long as you can hear me, um Chundle, that's uh that's the main thing. Um anything uh just before we kick start, Matt, from your side?
    04:01
    >> No, looking forward to it. It's uh these are always fun sessions and um yeah. Yeah. Let's uh let's let's hear what people have to say and uh see if we can help. >> Cool. Apologies if I sneeze or cough as well. Like I said, a little bit sick. Anyway, Kenzie, first up, I've invited
    04:16
you to the stage. Let's talk.
    4:20
    Favourite Xmas Gifts
    04:24
    >> Yo, bro. Alex. >> Hello. Hello. remember me when we making questions? >> Yes, I think you were in our last Q&A last week. >> Yes. >> Well, I I want to saying something for you. >> Say something or sing something. I didn't quite hear that, but go ahead. Go ahead.
    04:50
    >> Okay. Just Yes. What's your What's your favorite gift in the Christmas? you have my favorite gift at Christmas. Oh, I guess it changes every year. >> Yes. >> Um, I'm a crazy fan of hoodies and clothes. I know that sounds really basic, but you know, maybe 10 years ago when I was
    05:10
younger, I was like, clothes, whatever. But right now, I'm not the kind of person that goes shopping often. So, when I get clothes, it's like the first thing different in my wardrobe that appears. So, anything clothing is is a huge win for me. >> Ah, okay. But what about Matt? because
    05:26
last time I see him waving with his hand. >> Um I don't really have favorite Christmas gifts as such. Um it's um the big biggest thing for me is just being able to take time away and um and spend time with family and that kind of thing. So uh and also the fact that I get, you
    05:48
know, get a bit of time to actually sit back and and play some games um as well. So that that's that's the that's the big the thing I look forward to most about Christmas is just to slow everything down. >> Okay. But me, my best gift is getting my
    06:05
Switch, too. But because I got it for my gift and last time, Alex, I see you smiling because you're just getting happy for me. And I know you know my name, but I'm just a boy. But because because I'm approaching to 2026 because I'm very happy because in in
    06:30
France because I see the TGV when I was young because I'm see very very happy because you adding in train sim 4 but I don't know if I try it because me I was young and I was seeing the TGV when it's passing. because you it looks very fast and you guys know for that because I'm
    06:57
just taking chills and I'm taking vacation of the Christmas because I just keep saying happy new year and merry Christmas for that. So that's why I like the map. But wait, I'm I didn't finish. But I know you you wanted to. But for now in this Christmas, I'll try to celebrating 2026
    07:28
and you guys will be happy for now because I I was happy for seeing 2026, but it's just only >> Well, hopefully the new year will come soon. But it's really lovely and I appreciate you. you wishing us a good uh a good new year. >> Yeah, thank you very much.
    07:46
    >> I love the TGB. It's super fast. But but anyway, thanks for coming up. Thanks for the question. >> You're welcome. Have a nice day and merry Christmas, Alex and Matt. You can you can take it from another person. Bye. >> Merry Christmas. Bye-bye.
    08:05
    >> All right, folks. Uh I saw in the chat, what's this DS version of TSW5? Guys, it's not happening. The DS is old. Are you kidding me? [laughter] Let's get it. Let's get it. Let's get it working on the other >> on the spectum. Be on the spectrum first. Oops. I should be shouldn't be
    08:17
leaking, right? >> It's the next one up. All right, Josh
    8:20
What are the priorities for 2026?
    08:20
Cers, come on up. >> Hello, guys. How you doing? >> Hello. >> Doing good, >> good. Okay, so main question from me to you guys is what are the like big priorities for your teams over next year would be my question? Matt, I'll pass to you for a real easy one.
    08:46
    >> Um, I mean certainly the beginning of the year for as little time as possible, but for as much as necessary is all about performance. Um, and um, and fixing issues. Um, it's um, there's there's there's there is a lot of de development work going on. Um, but it's
    09:04
I think, you know, a very big priority, top top priority to be honest, about getting these issues resolved so that we get the game stable and more fun to play again uh on the consoles. >> Um, and uh, you know, it's that's that that's kind of that's kind of it. And
    09:20
that will go on for as long as it needs to go on for. Um, because it's dragged on too long at this point and it just needs knocking on the head. >> Yeah. Cool. And you know, if we come to community, um I think the biggest thing for us in the new year is just making sure that um
    09:37
everything we deliver for players from a community side is the best it can be. Whether that's clear and frequent transparent communication, whether that's really great road maps with what you want to see in it presented well, or whether it's just jumping on a Q&A
    09:49
session. And again, I think these have been a personal win of mine in the last recent weeks. But there's other things cooking in in in the thought wheel that I want to try and bring out to the community. um a little bit less um about talking about like the state of the game
    10:04
or like um questions the players have and a little bit more like injecting some fun and the kind of vibe in the content scene. So um hopefully some exciting things happening soon. >> Yeah, nice one. Yeah. So I was just going to say with the performance stuff
    10:17
obviously hopefully getting improved over the next year, if you guys need a beta tester on PC, I'm more than happy to jump in and help you guys out while I can. Did you submit your details to the um the beta tester form when I put it up last year?
    10:33
    >> I did. The one you put up this year I did. Yeah. So >> yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So in that case at some point I am going to get a moment to go through that. I might do that when I come into the new year actually. Um so um if your details are on there then um
    10:46
I'll bear you in mind as I go through. Um but there's about five six hundred names on that list. So >> oh my word. [laughter] That's [clears throat] going to be a bit of fun for you to go through. >> But anyway, thank you Josh. Appreciate you coming up.
    11:01
    >> Have a great Christmas, guys. And Matt, happy anniversary to you and your other half. >> Thank you very much. >> Yes. >> Have a great one, guys. >> Bye-bye. You too. >> Merry Christmas. >> Uh, so Fred Elliot, in case you missed it, a quick one. I can't speak. Any news
    11:16
on the disc version for PS5? Um, I don't know about dates or any news just yet. Um, let's come back to you with that. Um, we've not shared too much news in it, but I believe it's still kind of ticking away in the background. So, hopefully something I can share with you
    11:34
soon in the new year. Uh, we got more hands. We got quite a lot more hands. All right. A classic, a regular blue J in in third place. >> Afternoon. How are we all today?
    11:45
What inspired the free Spirit of Steam Add-on?
    11:47
    >> Doing well. >> Very good. That's good to hear and happy anniversary to you too, Matt. >> Thank you. >> So, as we Spirit Steam's released for free and I was just wondering what inspired the idea for it to be free for this month. >> Oh, interesting. That's a really fun
    12:05
one. Um, so funny story. Seasonal reveals this year. We I say we I I I started an initial plan for what we could do and I I work with lots of people in the team to figure out what reveals are we going to announce and what are we going to do around the the
    12:19
reveals to make it fun. Giveaways are easy. You know, we can we can order extra keys. We can kind of put budget aside for that. Um but giving away an add-on is is is a big thing and we've done it before. Um but uh we were we were originally going to call seasonal
    12:34
reveals the season of gifting. Well, originally it's a V1 name for me. Um, we were hoping to gift and and focus on an actual add-on as a key part of that. Um, but as we were kind of going through the process, we weren't sure, uh, based on store platforms and based on, um,
    12:50
timings and the kind of things and steps you need to take to be able to do that. We weren't sure if we we were able to get it done. Um, so, uh, we went back to just the classic name and, uh, you know, season reveals. It worked last year, it worked this year pretty well. And, uh,
    13:04
and we did actually end up getting confirmed that we could give a, um, give the add-on away. But uh what I will say is these don't happen easily and they don't happen without the passion from the team internally. You know the people from retail they've got to make sure the
    13:15
store pages work. They've got to contact the store platforms. They've got to find out all the weird nuances between Xbox or PlayStation or Steam or Epic. Um it's a lot of love and it takes a lot of chasing and it's I'll be honest, Christmas time is so busy. You know,
    13:29
there's a hundred other things that we could be doing that are either good for players or good for our processes. But we wanted to win. We wanted something for the players and uh the team put the time aside to make it happen and I'm really really glad it was Spirit of
    13:40
Steam because we just announced Neca Talban from the TSG team and I just think it was wonderful. So uh that's a little insight. >> Oh that's brilliant. And I guess the only other thing I have to say is that I'm really looking forward to the Great Western remaster. I've just read the art
    13:57
I've just read the article and watched the video again. It looks amazing compared to the old version. It is. It's brilliant. It's also a route I'm really familiar with in person as well. So, it's just mindblowing. But yeah, that's everything from me today.
    14:15
    >> Ah, thanks for coming up. Uh, one of these days you'll miss a session, but you know what? It hasn't happened yet. And I look forward to seeing you next [laughter] session as well. >> I look forward to seeing you again as well. Have a merry Christmas you two.
    14:27
    >> Yourself. Have a merry Christmas. >> We'll go to another hand. Um, I think there's there's some chatter going on in the chat. Uh, generally I'm going to prioritize a lot more of our time on the the live questions. I think it's just a really important dialogue I want to make
    14:40
sure is focused in these Q&A, but I'll still try and check in on the chat um when there's other questions. Anyway, Alex B, welcome up.
    14:45
Do announcements rely on PIS systems?
    14:47
    >> Hello. Hello. Happy anniversary, Matt. >> Thank you. >> Um, kind of relates to a question we had last week. Does the announcements rely on the same system as the PIS for finding like data on trains like destination, train number >> or is it
    15:04
    >> it's very heavily linked to No, it's not different because there's that always been the long-term plan was that BA building PIS visual screens was kind of step one to getting the audio stuff done as well. So, um there is a little bit more to it, but by and large it is all
    15:19
pulling from the same data source which is the timetable itself. >> Okay. Okay. So, if the audio files and the code were there, if the PIS detected a train is running late, the announcement could follow suit. >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. We we've got uh a
    15:33
number of things that the audio team have been working on, audio and engineering teams have been working on and and are looking at. One of which is late arrivals because the BIS already knows that. Um and we've also got terminating that we're looking at as
    15:47
well uh for when trains stopping because it doesn't really sound right when a train is pulling into its final station. Um so there's two or three things which are all catered for in the in the system already. Um and um it's uh it's just a matter of getting them getting them in
    16:03
really. We've had one of the things we found with the announcement system is that every territory uh every region um has got different ways of doing things and so we've actually spent quite a lot of time in the runup and one of the reasons we didn't get to some of this
    16:16
stuff because like the way German announcements work when they play is all the rules are different. America is different again, UK is different. And so we ended up going down a few rabbit holes of of getting that right in all the different places um and getting that
    16:31
sort of consistent, but I know the team have been working on other stuff. So hopefully we'll get some of that in at some point. >> Brilliant. Thank you. Merry Christmas. >> Thank you. Merry Christmas. >> Thanks for coming up. Merry Christmas. >> All right. Wonderful. I'm loving this,
    16:47
by the way, folks. I'm really loving it. Uh Pacific, welcome. Uh, I've sent you an invite, so come join us on stage. >> Hey, hello there. W uh hi, welcome to
    16:55
Would we add Steam train faults?
    16:57
I'm I'm glad to be here again. So, uh I got like a couple questions. Uh first off is related to steam locomotives. Um since we're getting the since we're getting more German steam content, well, not really more, but more or less our first German steam uh locomotive in
    17:12
Train Some World 6. Uh, I was wondering if there's going to be like, you know, um, steam locomotive related train faults, like hot boxes or even like failed injectors, like, you know, you have to like, uh, get the water flowing through like the second injector if one
    17:26
of the other injectors failed. >> I don't know actually where TSG are going with that. So, I guess that's something we can find out as um, as you know, as we go forward. In theory, that stuff is all possible. Um, so I guess as we run towards the the release of
    17:40
Necotarbon, I mean, Alex make a note. We need to find out we know what that is and share that with people what what the plan is for uh for faults in that respect because yeah, there could be some interesting different faults potentially on Steam. >> That could be really.
    17:55
    >> Yeah, I was actually kind of thinking I was actually kind of thinking about that like oh like you know since since we're getting more Steam locomotive stuff like what if we had steam locomotive faults? That would be like really cool to see. So, uh, you know, just just a thought.
    18:07
Um, and second question is, will there be more like, uh, free limited time DLCs, you know, like the Spirit of Steam one? And, uh, cuz I think I think the last time you you guys did like a a free DLC thing, it was it was when you guys, uh, got uh, bought by the developers of
    18:24
I think it was Snowrunner. Uh, I forgot I forget the name, but you statement. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then uh because I think they were based in France, uh you made all your French DLC free for a bit. So uh is there like a will there be more like uh chances to um
    18:42
uh put DLC up for free for like maybe a limited time? >> Almost certainly at some point. Yes. Um we've done it with the LGB. We did it with Sherman Hill at some point as well. Um we've now >> Sherman Hill. >> Yeah, it was for um I think that was correct me if I'm wrong, but I think
    18:58
that might have even been before the LGB we did. Um, >> I can't remember. >> I remember the assets for it. >> I guess I I guess I I guess I didn't see it. >> Uh, >> there will be more. I I think I'll kind of reiterate a little bit what I said earlier, and it's we we will look to do
    19:14
these because, well, we, you know, we obviously want to give back. We care about wanting to give players a chance to have DLC that they may not have picked up. It will generally be a DLC that is quite dated because obviously we wouldn't necessarily give like the most
    19:26
latest DLC for free. Um, but it's also a great chance for us to just kind of show love and just give more people a chance to pick something up if they didn't grab it originally and try something new. I mean, if you've never tried Steam or if you've never tried a French route or,
    19:39
you know, if you've never tried a US route before, you might pick it up before and be like, "Actually, this sounds kind of cool. Maybe I want to try more US stuff." So, um, I would think we would, it's probably not going to be super frequent all the time. It's
    19:49
obviously free content, but I would never say never. I mean, we've just got this one now. I would think hopefully we do something again similar time next year and maybe something in between. Who knows? >> So, uh yeah, that's those are the question those are all the questions I
    20:03
have. But one more thing I want to I want to say is uh I saw some work in progress screenshots of the uh the um the Stamford to the NYC to Stanford route. Uh basically just work in progress uh screenshots of the stations. And I'm I am really really looking
    20:18
forward to this. Uh, and in fact, I I actually have some I actually have one one uh really funny memory. Uh, when I was uh when I was uh crossing the Park Avenue tunnel just outside of Grand Central Station, um I was heading back from like a from like a doctor's
    20:34
appointment and I saw uh and I saw a uh a uh a P32 uh shoving Shoreliner cars back into Grand Central uh in a pushpull configuration. and I um and I recorded it with my phone and then uh the train went into the station. The train went through the tunnel. I went home and then
    20:54
I looked at the recording and I see the the road number is 2011. Huh. And and and it's and it's and the the P32 was weirdly blue and and like so I I I look up the road number and it's and it turns out the the train that was pushing the uh the passenger cars into Grand Central
    21:12
was uh Conrail 2011. uh one of the heritage units for the Metro North. And considering I have never seen a heritage unit before, I was like I was just in complete shock. >> That is awesome. >> Oh my god. and and and it's and it's and it gets even it gets even better because
    21:31
I was going to New Jersey to visit family on New Year's and as we're passing one of the maintenance yards uh that's near Grand Central, I see Conrail 2011 just like just idolling in one of the sightings as I'm just just so filming the the yard. I'm like, what why
    21:49
do you keep following me? [laughter] If any if anyone if anyone knows if anyone knows how to put a restraining order up against a locomotive, please tell me now. I I think I'm being stark. >> I love that. >> It is always cool when you when you're wandering around and you find the uh you
    22:03
know the oneshots. Um it's one of the things that we did in TSW a while back. We've never been able to we've never done it again was the on the Javelins where you get um one of the trains based on its number has the um the pride livery um and uh the train um and it's a
    22:21
little bit it's always random. You can't pick it. So, it's always random which one you get or which one you're going to see coming in the other direction. And there's always a bit of a buzz when you see the rarities like that when you um which is kind of cool. >> Yeah.
    22:33
    >> What a story. Thanks. No, thanks for sharing. It's really wonderful. >> If I if I had a if I had a nickel for every time I I recorded a heritage unit without even without even trying to I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?
    22:47
    >> I love that meme. >> Have a good Christmas. >> See you later, man. Thank you. How about that's wonderful. I I used to remember um when I took the the Southeastern into Chattam um there was a couple times where I travel into the office I think a year or two ago and I saw the the the
    23:06
Slaba Ukraini class 66 with the Ukraine flag on it. I saw it a few times and I really I really enjoyed seeing that. Um it's it's special when you see something. All right, Annie, come on up.

Best route we've developed for TSW?
    23:18
    >> All right. Hello. Um, so at this point obviously my question is you've developed loads of roots for several countries. Um, I was mainly wondering what would you say the best route you've developed is in your opinion of everything you've ever developed or train sim world.
    23:41
    >> Oh wow that's really difficult because best is such a subjective thing. Um, I don't know how to answer that in all honesty. My favorite route, the one that I drive all of the time is speed. >> Um, because it's just um, >> sorry, >> I was about to say that's actually not
    24:01
one I bought yet. It's on my list, but >> the thing I like about Southeastern High Speed is because of it. It's got it's got freight, it's got local slow, it's got express, it's got the super express. Um, and um, it's got all sorts of different things in it. So, it's kind of
    24:16
like whatever I want to do, it's got stuff for it. Um, so and there's, you know, tons of add-ons for it as well. So, um, I think [clears throat] it's great. Um, I'm just trying to think in terms of like technical achievements, um, and I don't know the answer even. I
    24:30
know things like Castle Wzburg were a real technical challenge, um, because of the vast number of tunnels on it, um, and the great distance of it. So, you know, there was a lot of scenery there for the for the team to fill in. It was 186 km, I think, that one. Um, so it's a
    24:44
long route. Um, Baloo line was half seven and a half miles of tunnel. Um, and the t, you know, that was for a 14 mile route, it was probably one of the longest development times we have ever had on a route. Um, >> I really enjo I'm I'm going to call it free scenery
    25:09
and the team are going to beat me when I get back. Um but it's kind of like you know every every pixels has to be modeled when it's in a tunnel you know there's nothing whereas at least in the open land you can um you've got trees and fences and and and skyline and so
    25:24
forth but um in the tunnels everything has to be modeled you know and all the light baking extensive many many many hours of constant light baking required for it. So >> it has to be done. It's so iconic, right? >> Yeah. Exactly. So, you know, it's um you
    25:39
know, there this every route we've done has advanced the game in some way. Um there's been very little that we've done which hasn't brought the game forward in some way, big or small. Um so, um yeah, those are the things that stand out for me like Baloo. Yeah.
    25:58
    >> But for tunnels is pain. [laughter] I remember getting Baloo on my PS4 the day it came out. >> It's a good route. I still play. It's one another one I go back to, >> you know, cuz it's it's fun to drive. Different experience. >> Milton Keys, the Houston route now is
    26:17
why I mainly drive the underground because there's so much more stock on it that you can see compared to the original. >> Yeah. >> Um I also got the Riviera line last night. I just wanted to say you guys did an amazing job on that as well. That's a
    26:29
really fun drive. I was really pleased with how that one came out and the way the stock work the game play the re the timets come out really well. So I was really pleased with the what the team achieved on a line everything I >> heard that's about it mainly just merry
    26:43
Christmas. Happy New Year to everyone. >> Merry Christmas to yourself. >> Merry Christmas. >> Yeah. Merry Christmas to you too. >> See you later. Bye. >> See you later. Byebye. Uh and note as well folks. It's it's going to sound like a shameless plug, but I'm just
    26:56
being honest. Sales are on. Um, and I checked uh if you wanted to pick up anything, including Southeastern Highspeed as a note, it's 50% off. Um, but there's huge discounts. There's huge. Just take a look if you're interested. Um, I'm not saying you need
    27:07
to, but you know, it was an opportunity to plug. So, there there you have it. >> I'm going to say you need to. You need to go and have a look at the sales. [laughter] >> All right. Matt said it, not me. All right. Ryan, uh, you've got an invite to come up. Why don't you come talk to us?
    27:21
    >> Hello. >> Hey, Ryan. >> How are you today? >> I'm good. How about yourself? I'm good, thanks. Uh, so I have like maybe like three questions. Um,
    27:33
Will we add announcements to all TSW routes?
    27:36
so question one, uh, do you know if it would be possible to add GO to class 385 and the 380 on the Edinburgh to Glasgow line because based on play >> I saw those. Sorry, just to just to stop any anything suggestion or anything that's more of just a if we would add in
    27:57
future. We we're not going to answer today as a note. Um so if if you've got any other questions that we can talk into a little bit more if they're feature related or just general questions, but otherwise I'd have to ask if um any suggestions, keep them to the
    28:10
chat or to the suggestions form, please. >> Yeah. Um and uh this other question is if what does it say? Um it was to ask if it would I don't think it's possible but although if it would be possible to like add announcements to all uh train I mean roots.
    28:43
It's a popular one. I know people have asked for it. I I don't know Matt if you want to talk a bit about the kind of technical side of actually doing that. Um >> I mean it is just literally it needs to be offered for every individual route. There is no um central place to do it or
    28:57
we would have done it. Um it's it's got you basically got to go to every route um uh get it onto the latest audio and um and then record all the announcements for it. go and place all of the announcements um speakers because we literally place the speakers onto all
    29:11
the platforms um and then set it up. I mean it's um it's not a fiveminute job. It's probably not a huge job per route but it's not a fiveminute job. So, um it's it's one of those things that, you know, as as and when we come back and do remasters, um then it goes on the list
    29:27
of things, you know, much like Todd for um as something which, you know, adds an awful lot to the, uh the the you know, the experience of a route, but there's no easy way to get that out or we definitely would have. >> Yeah. And my final question is uh I don't think it would be possible
    29:51
because like I think this is like I don't know if it's like for kids or something playing with their like dad or something or mom. uh if it would be possible for like on the Somerset Railway for the Thomas and to Thomas and Friends uh game pass. Uh do you know if
    30:15
like instead of like a to go forward then to go back whatever um do you know if it would be possible to like add actual interacting controls? >> Oh, sure. It's one that I've seen a few
    30:30
Advanced controls for the Thomas & Friends Visit WSR route?
    30:30
people ask. Um, yeah, I don't think we have any plans to do that. >> Um, because well, we we obviously developed it with the simple controls in mind. Um, >> I don't think there's any intention to want to include um more sophisticated controls, but I think um
    30:47
    >> I think it's fair to say I understand why people ask, but yeah, there's no there's no intention there. Um, I appreciate the ask. >> Okay, that was all. Have a good Christmas >> always. Thank you for joining us. Appreciate it. Merry Christmas. >> Thanks. But >> byebye.
    31:06
    >> All righty. Uh, got some merry Christmas. Starting a message off. We're farming great messages today as well. It's It's a wonderful feeling. Anyway, hello. >> Hello. So, um, my question is, do you know if we would get a North Wales route? >> Another one. I'm just going to have to
    31:25
say as it's a suggestion and it's not announced, we just can't we just can't talk about this. Um, so I'm going to just kind of have to put a pause on that one, I think, unless there's anything specific about it. >> Um, and then when would we get like a um
    31:40
When will we hear more news for WCML Trent Valley (+ Roadmap)
    31:43
first look like the um Trent Valley route? >> Uh, I'm in the same boat. Hopefully soon in the new year. So, I don't know. It's a good chance for me to say because I don't know if we've said it yet, which maybe uh could be said, but anyone in the call hopefully spread the news.
    31:60
There probably won't be a January road map. Partly because when we come back in in January, we're going to be starting in the second week of Jan. We obviously would have done nothing over the holidays and it's likely that a lot of our partners probably wouldn't have done
    32:12
much either. Uh I'm not speaking to everyone, but there probably won't be much happening uh during the break. And because we need a couple weeks to contact partners, approve images and stuff, by the time we get a January road map out, it would be February anyway.
    32:25
So, we're just going to do a February road map and go really big in the February period because uh if you remember from previous years, February is a special time, but I uh I don't know. I'll leave it to you to figure out what's happening then. But there'll be a
    32:37
February road map, which means hopefully in a few months, a couple months from now, there'll be some interesting news. And I'm I've got my fingers crossed that we'll hear a little bit more. And then one thing is um I've had this issue before but I've now having to move
    32:50
Purchasing TSW via disk versions or store fronts
    32:52
to a brand new Xbox account. So would it be better if I instead of buying each drew it independently start from Chainsim World one which is the 2020 and then work my way up buying the discs and getting the add-ons like that because it'd be cheaper. That' be better do you
    33:08
think than buying each one separately? >> Uh if I'm honest I don't know how the math adds up on that. I would probably off the top of my head in >> I think for each individual bit of content you're looking for just work out what is the cheapest way to pick it up.
    33:25
Um the one thing that you will need to bear in mind is that there are not always um forward um so when you the idea the the in the earlier versions of the game if you um bought a copy of content for Train Sim World 2 then it would appear in Train Sim World 4 for example. Um, in the more
    33:45
recent ones, the the the um that entitlement only goes one layer deep, right? So, if you bought a TSW4 add-on and you've got TSW6, then it won't appear. Um, there is a process to make it appear. So, you know, it's still going to work, but you just got to be
    34:01
bear in mind it'll be a little bit more um, you know, timeconuming because you've got to claim it on five and then it will appear on six. So I mean there is there is whatever whatever version you own in an earlier version of the game you can make work you can get it to
    34:16
where it grants you the new version and you get the version for for t for TSW6. So it shouldn't it shouldn't matter how you obtain it. So I would just say shop around and find the best deals um and then you if you get stuck on how to make a thing work just contact our support people.
    34:34
    >> Okay. Um that is all the questions I have. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and have a good new year. >> Thanks for coming. >> Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. >> Merry [clears throat] Christmas. [laughter] Merry Christmas. I'm gonna chuckle you. Um uh there was something I
    34:50
    Mention on Xbox sales
    34:51
did want to quickly mention there. Uh because it's come up a few times, but it's also because the Xbox came up and discounts and stuff. Um we would put sales where we can if we had the opportunity to do so, everywhere equally. Um, I I think Xbox of the four
    35:05
platforms does tend to get a little bit the short end of the stick. Um, it's the platform that just has the most limitations. Uh, and it's just um it's a little bit hard to say that it's outside of our control, but there is a reality where where it is. Um, and so we do our
    35:20
best, but I think I think it's fair to say that Xbox does get a few less sales, a few less opportunities, a few less discounts. There's really nothing we can do. And it's it's I trust me, we would we would put it all on sale if we could to match Steam and PC and and and at
    35:32
times PlayStation. Um I think PlayStation has some limits, but nowhere near as much as Xbox. So um I know it's frustrating. I just there isn't really a great solution. Um we try to offer more Xbox sales. Um so you'll have like a a discount on core for like a couple weeks
    35:49
and then after that an add-on discount and after that maybe like a Black Friday discount or after that and then another one. So, we try and stagger it to help. Um, but I know it's not ideal. So, uh, I I appreciate you guys calling it out, but it's, uh, trust us, if we could do
    36:03
more sales on Xbox and make it all parent and perfectly equal for everyone, we would. It's just so it's not easy. We can't always do it. Uh, anyway, more questions. We've got someone um, again, I don't know. I need to turn off streamer mode. >> Hello. >> Hello.
    36:21
just get out the GWE remaster if you own
    36:25
Will the GWE Remaster be free? (Yes, in TSW6)
    36:25
the previous one with that came with Trains World 2020. Will you get the new one for free? >> As long as your entitlement has carried all the way across. Um but if you have GWE like in train world sex for example, you will get the remaster. Yes.
    36:40
    >> It doesn't matter when or how you bought it as long as it or you've got it as long as you've got it in TSW6. And if you owned it from a previous version, you don't have it in six, then go to our support people and they can help fix that for you because there never buy an
    36:53
add-on twice. You should never need to buy an add-on twice. >> It's it's a it's an update to the root. It's not um it's not a separate add-on. [clears throat] >> Yeah. Once it's released, it will just automatically download. You don't have anything extra to to get to make that work.
    37:06
    >> Okay. >> To clarify though, it is it is worth saying it is only in train 6. The re once the remaster will release it is it will be updated in trains of world 6 for trains of world 6. You can have the entitlement of many trains but it was the remaster will only be playable in six.
    37:24
    >> Will the 802 be layering into the
    37:25
Will the GWE Remaster have the 802 layer?
    37:29
GWE remaster or will it just not rem not layer into it? I I believe there's one service or one set of services which are based around a test train um because in that the route is dated 2015 um which predates the 802s um but Liam was keen that he wanted to be able to have the
    37:52
802 drivable on the route um so we added it in as a um as a test drivable service essentially. What made you guys make the GWE remix today? >> That's all down to Liam. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that's all down to Liam. This is a this is a personal prep project of Liam
    38:11
and uh I think Ryan from our audio team was involved in it as well. He's worked some magic with the audio. Um and it is very much a you know they've done this in their own time. Um and um because it's a um I think Liam wanted to um learn some new skills which he started
    38:28
off with West Somerset Railway. Um and then you know as has um then sort of perfected those skills to be honest what he's done on on GWB remaster is nothing short of amazing. Um so but no it's it's Liam Liam a personal project of Liam's he decided what he wanted to do and got
    38:44
on with it. I mean there's some of the other team like um Joe um you know occasionally does remasters of various timetables and that's purely because that's what he wants to do and he does them in his own time. So, um it's um yeah, that's that's very much the the reason GWE got done.
    39:02
    >> Is there going to be any onboard train
    39:05
Will the GWE Remaster have announcements?
    39:06
announcements and platform announcements for the GWE remaster or is it just going to be stock? >> Watch the I believe it does have announcements. Yeah. And I I'm sure I heard them on the um on the video actually on Monday. >> Yeah, I'm I'm pretty sure. I think my
    39:24
general approach when people have asked about the GW remaster is I'm sure Liam has done anything and everything he can. So if it exists it's it's in it um for the most part. >> Yeah. I think he put suspension on trains. He's put um the mouse wheel the
    39:37
mouse wheel the wheel blow fixes. Um there's u I think he's upgraded the resolution of the um window rain effects. So they've got the new high-res rain um and all sorts of things. Just a massive range of fixes across the board. So, uh, read the articles and watch that
    39:55
video. There's, uh, lots of good stuff there. But no, it's it's going to be kind of best-in-class, um, uh, GWE. Now, >> I've just linked the the video in the chat. Um, but hopefully that gives you all the questions as well. Um, for GWE, but thanks for coming up.
    40:09
    >> What's the inspiration for the Medway
    40:10
What was the inspiration for the Medway Valley line?
    40:11
Valley line? >> Uh, probably want to ask the Firefly simulation team. Uh, it's a third party route. Um, so external developers looking at creating that. Um >> so I think from my discussions with Firefly um in the start the group they wanted to start with a project um and I
    40:28
I'll say this as a caveat as is my understanding of it and it might be wrong um and as Alex says talk to maybe it's a good question to talk to the team about when we start um covering the root more but my understanding was essentially is a group coming together
    40:41
to work on um as a third party uh team and they wanted something that was meaningful uh but not too long um because they didn't how long it was going to take to make, what the st the quality standards they could achieve was. And so they wanted something that
    40:56
was meaningful, but not, you know, not too long. Um, and let them, you know, really focus in on lots of detail because it's sort of where they're where they're really good at. Um, and so, and I think that, um, you know, um, the Medway came up as one of the
    41:11
suggestions. Um, it's personal favorite route of one of the team members on our side, um, who, you know, he's been pestering me on a regular basis for us to do it internally. Um and uh it was proposed I think as one of the options and I think they liked it. Um so and it
    41:25
is a fun route. It is a really fun route and certainly what I'm seeing and what they've done with it is that they've done it tremendous amount of justice. So it should be really good. >> Well I'm really looking valley line. >> It it should be a real big win. Um but
    41:38
thanks for coming. I think we we've answered quite a few questions. I want to give everyone else a chance to answer those with their hands up. >> Fair enough then. Have a nice Christmas and have a nice Christmas. Thank you. You too. Have a great Christmas. Bye bye.
    41:51
    >> Stay safe. Bye bye. >> All right, folks. We've got 10 hands up. We'll do as best as we can. >> Hello. >> Hello. Hello, guys. Um, so I've actually
    42:00
Will we make more Swiss content?
    42:03
got two questions. As someone from Switzerland, I really enjoy Swiss content in trains in world. At the moment, when it comes to standard gauge routes, we only have Espons and Trites. And my first question is um what is the state regarding licensing with um the
    42:20
national railway company SBB because I know a developer who actually managed to obtain a license for a SBB train add-on in trains classic which allows them to use official branding but um they have to cut uh some things shortened system depth. So I was just wondering what's
    42:38
the state with that. I think um unless Matt you want to take it. It's probably just a a general response. I think >> I think well I mean the um bottom line is we I don't think we'll be making any content for SBB um trains um is uh certainly for the foreseeable
    42:58
future. the restrictions that need to be placed on it I don't think will meet players expectations um is is kind of where I where I think it fits is is it's and then it's perfectly reasonable that they they place um restrictions on on what they want to see um in in the game,
    43:14
what they don't want to see in the game. Um but I think that then creates a massive misalignment with what players of the game would expect. Um, so it's, yeah, [snorts] for for me personally, uh, that for me puts it down the, uh, down the list, which is
    43:28
unfortunate cuz I got some beautiful trains, beautiful roots, um, and some of the best scenery in the world. Um, but if the driving experience is not going to be there, then that's kind of why you're here, isn't it? For the driving experience. So, um, so
    43:43
that's that's the sort of the short answer there. >> Okay. Thank you very much. And my second question, I'm unsure if you're able to answer that, but have you also looked into other operators from Switzerland besides SPB? >> I don't know. >> Um,
    43:59
    >> I can't remember. I know we have, you know, we have RHB. Um, but um I I don't know uh is the answer to that question. I'll have to go and ask. I don't think I don't think so. I don't think it's come up um uh partly because of the the SBB issue. Um but um yeah, I will I will ask
    44:20
and find out. >> Okay, thank you very much. I've also put a suggestion um in the suggestions tab um with another opate operator from normal go but um I'll leave you up to it. So thank you very much. >> Awesome. Thank you. Merry Christmas. >> You're welcome.
    44:36
    >> Byebye. Uh I'll take a look at that after this as well. Um all right. Uh name beginning with M. I think it was midnight something but again I've got stream mode on which makes it a little bit difficult. Hello. >> Hello. How you doing? >> Doing fine. >> How are you, Mikey?
    44:50
Will we make more unbranded content if the license isn't obtainable?
    44:51
    >> Good. So, I got two real quick questions. Uh, first of all, would you consider doing more unbranded content if obtaining a license wasn't possible, but it was a popular suggestion? >> Really interesting one. Um, I mean, Matt, you can start, but I know from I
    45:04
can talk a bit about like survey answers as well. >> Yeah. Uh so the sort of the feedback that I see when we do unbranded content is it's a half a job um and the value doesn't match up. So the expectation is if it doesn't have brands it shouldn't be full price. Um so um that has to be
    45:24
taken into account um versus where I could do a train with brands and people players would be obviously more happy with that. Um the other problem to recognize is that uh and I I need to restate this even internally sometimes is if there's no license, no brands,
    45:40
that means no reference trip. That means no audio recording. That means no photography. Um no photography is generally less of an issue because there's a billion in one pictures online. Audio is a huge problem. So, if there's no no brand, there's no, you
    45:54
know, we haven't got a relationship with the the operators where we can even put their train like the little logos on the train, that means we can't do the audio properly either. So, not only is it probably um a um a train that's just plain colors, it's also a train that
    46:09
probably has got copy paste audio. Um and sometimes that has to happen. Um but it's not my priority. It's sorry it's not my preference and I will try like heck to avoid getting into that situation. Um so it's um yeah it's a it's a challenge. Um but I will personally I will try and avoid
    46:28
unbranded stuff just for that you know selection of reasons um that it makes so much difficult. >> Yeah. Ju just to add to to what M's saying, we we include a question. I'm pretty sure we had it in our last survey and we had it in our last one as well
    46:41
before of um of what players would like uh us to do if we can't obtain a license, whether it's make an unbranded version or not consider that. Um as well, um I don't know how that data has changed, but generally speaking, it's been it's been fairly mixed. You get
    46:57
quite a subset of players that are like, if we can't get that license, we don't want to see it. um you get some people that don't mind it for gameplay reasons as well and it's there's there's other subsets of the question that can kind of go into
    47:07
    >> I think it is how I think it is down to how important it is like if it's a secondary train on the route like uh Mile line for example included some unbranded trains I think that's a good idea actually because it it doesn't matter as much and what what actually

    Part 3
    47:21
matters more is the contribution to liveless um >> exactly >> um and likewise um I think the redid remaster has you there's some unbranded stuff on it. Um so and again it contributes really nicely to the um the liveless of the route. But if it's the
    47:38
main player train or it's a main part then I think it has to be branded wherever possible. Now obviously in some cases that's not going to work like on the LNWR West Coast mainline route we did. Someone asked earlier on the chat where did we get audio from for that and
    47:52
presumably in relation to my question about not getting it. Um we we did get audio for the 350 via West Midlands. um so um via someone that works there. So, you know, that's slightly different and we were able to get audio for that. So, um yeah, it's it's kind of like there's
    48:07
nothing perfect in this process and normally things start off on the wrong track if if you're already talking about unbranded. >> Uh sorry, I don't know if we caught that. At least I was I was hearing a lot of distortion. >> Yeah. I didn't my microphone. Um, can
    48:30
    you hear me? All right.
    48:30
Have we ever cut content from TSW?
    48:31
    >> Yes, I can hear you now. >> Okay, brilliant. Uh, I was just asking, could you tell us about any cut content for the game, if you're allowed to? >> It's one for you, Matt. I think something I'm aware of. >> Um, >> I think we make changes all the time in
    48:48
our dev process. We make changes all the time for various reasons. Um, and um, I don't think I'm trying to think if in TSW there's been anything we've just flat out dropped entirely and there isn't TS Classic. There were >> I I think there's definitely times where
    49:03
we come up with an idea for a feature, we look at when we can like we look at maybe a TSW version that we want to try and release it with, but then we think about maybe scaling back and then we bring it back in a later edition potentially. or you know I think there
    49:17
have been times where we've looked at a feature and um and kind of looked about like can we deliver on this to the best idea. It's not necessarily cutting um and it's again we can't really talk about anything we necessarily may have had in this kind of pool but it's it's
    49:31
similar in a way of of can we deliver on this kind of feature that we want to give for players and if it's not now could it be in the future potentially. >> Yeah that's a good point. Sam talks about multiplayer and you know that was cut. Um yes and it was you know I swear
    49:44
I hand on heart I swear when I did the announce when we recorded the announcement and I said multiplayer was coming it was coming at that point. Um and >> it's quite an old video now like to be fair. >> It was an old video. Um but it was it was just like I you know I remembered
    49:60
you know shortly after I did that video and then sort of the questions came up about it. I'm like you are kidding me. Um I'm not going to live this one down ever. So here we are seven years later. Um and um and I think in in hindsight I think we took the right decision to go
    50:15
with the way that we have done because making a strong single player game has been um you know um a more important and if we tried to do multiplayer as well. Single player would probably been quite weak because multiplayer brings with it all sorts of challenges. That's not to
    50:30
say not to do multiplayer. It's just to say that um you know we've been on this path. we've we've you know built some extra you know what we've got to get here multiplayer would have been you know half of the dev time between then and now. Um so you know a lot of stuff
    50:47
wouldn't have done in the time. So it's it's a very it's very challenging. Um and as Raph says there the industry says if you do multiplayer you need at least solid single player as a basis. You can't just have a multiplayer game that's an also RAM. Not unless you're
    50:60
talking about games which are built around multiplayer. Obviously there are team shooters and the like which obviously you know the sing multiplayer is what they they're there for but for a game like this single player first you know um and I think we are right to
    51:11
realize that and and and focus and I realize that's disappointing u for me as well to be honest because I was really looking forward to it um but um you know that's so that's that's a big one um so but I can't think of any other big ones at least.
    51:27
    >> Is there any roots that had to be cut? >> No. No, I don't think we've ever we've cut bits of roots, you know, where because originally, for example, Sherman Hill, we wanted to make track three. Um, and um when the reality of theuling came through um it's and that happens after
    51:43
all the we quite often we we complete theuling fulluling of a project after the track is done because track and signaling are normally way ahead of the rest of the team um because of their the way that theiruling works um and the time it takes to do that versus the
    51:58
rest. So the track for everything we we speced it out with everything in it. Um which is why you see the track and signaling are in for track three on Sherman Hill. Um and then when the all of the numbers came back it's just like okay it's just not going to work with
    52:10
track three. So the scenery for track 3 was cut. So that's that's an example there. Doesn't happen very often. Um, but we'll, you know, we always, I always tend to overspec roots that we make on the basis that we can dial it back to what fits rather than underspecking a
    52:28
route and missing an opportunity that could have been undertaken. So, I and the team probably hearing that going, "Wait, what?" Um, but, you know, I I always try and push the route as far as I can um with the team. Um, but then >> shoot for the moon. If you miss, you
    52:42
land among the stars. Am I right? >> Well, exactly. It's, you know, it's aim high. Um and um and we get as far as we can um in that and it's it's about making sure that um you know that what it what you know what we try fits. Um I'm trying I can't think there's been
    52:58
any roots cut. I'm sure the last time we cut an entire route was back in TS Classic. So that was ages ago. TSW and I think we've oh sorry there was one route. Yes, there was one route we cut. Um uh we did it was the second German route. Um we were going to do a line out of Rosstock.
    53:17
Um and when we reviewed it were you know we sat back we actually laid the track for this route and we started reviewing carefully having sort of then having the feedback from Leipig. Um and we started looking at it um and we realized that the Rosstock route was going to be
    53:35
Leipzig 2.0. It was just going to be exactly the same same trains. What were we thinking? Um, and so we took the decision to just park all the work, throw it all away, and start again. And that was when we did Rules ignored instead. And I am so glad we made that
    53:51
decision. Such a much better route. It was much more interesting. Um, and as much as I like the Rusttock area, it the route wouldn't have made sense. Um, and Mr. Fancy Quacker, no plans to go back to that route at all. Um, so, um, it's, yeah, it was the right decision to take,
    54:08
but that's the only time I think we ever we've ever had a a decision like that because that's a really that's a really bad thing to happen in a dev process because, you know, there's a lot of time spent on these things. Um, and um, it's uh, yeah, it's a challenge, but you
    54:22
know, that's the one that's the one time I can recall it happening. >> Thanks for the question. What what an interesting one as well. >> Yeah. Thank you for having me. Appreciate it. >> No, thanks for coming up. >> Thank you. >> Have a good holiday season.
    54:33
    >> Yeah. Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. >> Oh, that was it. It was the Oh, we cut the battle royale mode. It's a shame that didn't make it. I think that was TSW 5, maybe. Yeah, that was that was really good. Um, anyway, uh, folks, for everyone that [laughter]
    54:51
    >> um, for everyone that's got their hands up, may I ask try and keep it to a quick one question. Um, we might be able to get through everyone as long as we can kind of give some some quick responses. If it prompts the discussion, we talk a bit longer, then we talk a bit longer.
    55:03
Um but um no suggestions please and hopefully we can try and get through some people in this list as well. Um but thanks for coming up everyone. It's been another great session. >> Right Toasted to hear from you. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> Toasted.
    55:17
    >> Um my question is sort of a big one. >> Um because you know how all the railways are being privatized in between >> like some are and the rest is being transferred over to GBR from the government. Would that affect the later games towards the franchise? >> Would that affect
    55:41
    >> I'm not sure what you mean. Sorry. >> Oh, sorry. Um, with like GVR, would it
    55:45
Will it be harder to get the license from UK content with GBR nationalisation?
    55:46
be harder to get the licensing towards it? >> I don't know. I mean, we'll see how that pans out. I mean, we we've obviously been working with GBR. I'm sure you've seen in the press. Um, uh, we helped them on their with on their announce day on London in London Bridge recently. So
    56:01
we've got a really strong relationship with them and with department for transport. Um but you know sometimes until you have a discussion you don't know how that discussion will go. Um so I don't want to say anything but they're a brilliant bunch. Uh and we have a
    56:13
really you know great time you know working with them back and forth. So um I'm I have a positive outlook. I think it'll be I think it'll be good. >> I I think it's fair to say as um you know right now while we don't know there's a greater chance that it could
    56:28
be more difficult as it could be more easy. So, who knows where we'll end up on that on that on that front. Um, but um what I would say is for like existing content at the moment, >> as we're aware, and again, we'll figure this out as we go and we'll navigate the
    56:41
future as it comes, but there is absolutely no intention of of impacts from from what's already come out until now. >> No, I'm not aware of any impacts to current content at all. No, no, not at all. >> So, it's something people really wouldn't talk about like just out of the
    56:56
blue really. And and again, I I don't I don't think these licensing concerns for older content would ever really just pop up out of the blue. Um but again, hopefully moving forward, I fingers crossed it's a smooth process. I'd like to hope it's a smooth process, but we'll have to see as
    57:11
it comes. >> All right. Uh merry Christmas. >> Merry Christmas. Thanks for coming up. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Rail Lord, Lord of the Rales, come on up. Hello. Can you hear us? >> And you may you may >> Oh, sorry. I was muted. >> Oh, good. Hi there.
    57:43
    >> Hi. Um, I wanted to ask a very vague
    57:45
Will we make more Canadian content?
    57:47
question. And this is not a suggestion and I'm not asking about specifics, but I am one of the few Canadians playing this game. And I was just wondering, can we expect any any sort of Canadian content in the future? And I also wanted to ask about the Oakville subdivision
    58:05
route and if that will be getting a remaster possibly. Um, in terms of terms of Canadian content in future, obviously nothing we can announce that I I don't know if there's any I've seen as a note though. Um, I don't know. >> That comes up in internal discussions
    58:21
frequently. Um um so uh it's an area I mean there's some really really beautiful areas um and strictly personally I would love to see the um Kicking Pass and Rogers Pass sort of areas come to the game um because it's just absolutely spectacular and a really
    58:38
really nice you know drive as well. It's really it's a really good challenge around the the double curves and so forth. So um but then um you equally you know you look at what GO Transit do with some of their trains and the variety of stock and the sheer length of those
    58:54
trains. It's really interesting. So I've got a big interest uh in doing stuff in Canada. Um like I said we got nothing to uh um to discuss there. Um so um um but yeah hopefully hopefully at some point but I don't know nothing on the cards at the minute. And it comes to Oakville.
    59:13
Again, there's no there's no concrete plans to do an Oakville remaster, but I really like Oakville. I know why it didn't land quite so well because it was a shunting route and it didn't really do a great job of the shunting aspect. Um so, I think a remaster would have to
    59:26
focusing on opening up areas of the yard that were um that were blocked off. Um so, um but I know I still enjoy driving Oakville actually. Um and uh uh you know, so yeah, I think it's it's an interesting route, an interesting area. Um but at this point in time, I don't
    59:45
have any any we don't have anything to announce on either of those fronts, I'm afraid. >> Okay. Thank you for your answers. Merry Christmas. >> Merry Christmas. Thanks for coming. >> Bye. >> All right. Uh Cabete, I hope I'm saying that right. Hello. Welcome to the stage. Quick check
    60:09
on your mic. Be muted. >> You're muted. >> There we are. [clears throat] Sorry. >> Hello. >> No worries. >> I'm I'm I'm pretty new on this thing. [laughter] >> Okay. You probably know me by now. >> I know you. Yeah. We've spoken for a long time. [laughter]
    60:30
Have we got improvements for Fife Circle Leven Branch?
    60:32
I've been around since the beginning of time trains the world actually. >> Yeah. >> Uh my question is how far are we on the five circle route leaving branch? I was a bit bit I I was complaining a bit about the 158 as you may know. Uh but I it went through so we'll see what
    60:58
happens. Are there any news for it? >> What what's the issue? Sorry. >> Uh the leave branch, the class 158 has the announcement, but they don't work properly. >> Okay. All right. We'll have to take that one and find out because that's Skyhook's add-on. So, um and five
    61:19
through. So, we'll need to work out between Skyhook and um F what what their their expectation and plan was on that front. Yeah, it's one of I'm following the discussion on quite closely as well. Um I can try and follow the team. >> What's happening you can see in my
    61:35
video. I have a cab video on YouTube. So if you want to see that it's there and it's all in the port. >> So I'll have I'll play myself and just remind myself and then can I go and have a conversation with it sorry and find out. it starts. She starts telling Scott
    61:53
rail but no stations. And if you if you go uh spad and restart, she starts counting up the stations when nothing more happens. And that's the 158 only. >> Good to know. Um I'll take a look at the You said you got a video. If you if you want to link that in the chat, I can
    62:14
always attach that to any tickets. Um, but I can >> see if I'll see if I can get it when you're talking to others. It's >> that's really great. >> Fairly easy to it's fairly easy to find if you look for beabe in the YouTube because I have it on trains and world
    62:29
but the playlist but I I'll try. >> Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate it. >> And really I like th that route and I like the new traing world six. It's very amazing. I was banging on Matt with the announcements that and finally I got something to listen to. So yes,
    62:54
    >> I'm very pleased. Uh so I just >> Yes. I'm just cutting here now and I will wish you a merry Christmas as you deserve it. So I told Chris to >> Yeah. We'll see on the other side what's happening. It's very exciting. Yes, >> the the Medway line is very exciting.
    63:16
Sorry, I'm a bit have a bit cold. [laughter] >> No, you and me both. Thanks. Thanks for coming up there. I appreciate you talking with us. >> Yeah, thank you. Goodbye. >> Uh yeah, we'll take a look at that one. I know there's some conversation there
    63:30
with the uh the 158 specifically. Um made a note on my on my notes. All right, folks. Is uh I I called I think when I was looking earlier, I think Fred Elliot. I'll go up to Fred and probably no none after on the list. Um, so there's three I want to go through.
    63:44
Let's try and keep these relatively just one question. Um, as long as the questions quick, we'll discuss as long as we feel we we we can answer it properly, but I'll probably kind of call it there. So, we go in just a little over an hour. Hello. >> Hello. Hello.
    63:59
    >> Hello. Um I have a fairly high-end PC
    64:00
    Performance hit with passengers loading
    64:03
and when approaching um your more medium and big size stations um when passengers are unloading when there's a lot of them performance hit is quite a lot. Um is that because of the amount of passengers or is there something deep that's an issue there? It'll be the amount of
    64:24
passengers, the fact that um you suddenly get a flurry of calculations having to be happen at that point. Um I doubt it's going to be a rendering issue because especially if you're in the cab um then you're not really going to see them. Um so it may just be
    64:39
calculation. I want to do a bunch of work improving the passengers at some point. I don't know when we're going to get to that, but increasing the number of passengers is one of the things I want to do as well as but before we do to that, I want to increase their
    64:50
improve their behavior because there's no point having 10 times as many mad insane passengers on the platforms. >> Um so um get their behavior under under control because sometimes, for example, you see empty platforms and so forth, it's not because they're not set up,
    65:05
they're just there's a bug stopping them. With one of the things we fixed in TSW6 was that um passengers wouldn't get on the train. Um and it was just a bit of logic fail going on in one of the instructions that um they got stuck and and then couldn't couldn't get on the
    65:19
train. Um so we fixed that. So you get more people on the train now. And so there's other things like that. There's there's probably three or four more of those issues that need to get resolved. Um and then uh then there's an optimization pass of going through and
    65:32
figuring out what we can do to uh make it more performance friendly. One of the one of the challenges of the performance system uh sorry the MPC system uses UE's built-in NPC processing which isn't the most efficient and it's not designed for this you know for a crowd um type system
    65:49
there are new systems been developed since then which are much better for crowd management um rearchitecting the system to support one of those is probably beyond scope that's an enormous amount of work but I'm sure there's some stuff we can do to improve it so watch
    66:02
watch the space but it's certainly nothing that I would envision seeing in the foreseeable future, but bugs certainly. I would expect to look at those, but not the performance. Not right now. >> Yeah. Perfect. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas. Have a good one. >> Thank you.
    66:16
    >> Byebye. >> Christmas. Bye. >> Right. Uh Weno, I've sent you an invite to come up. Hello. >> Hello. Is my sound okay? >> Yes, you sound great. >> Right. Uh I apologize if my accent is very poor and my French accent. >> That's okay. Uh, I I just would like to ask you a quick
    66:36
question about TSC. Am I allowed to do so or is this only about TSW?
    66:40
TSC headlights aren't working as intended
    66:40
    >> No, go ahead. >> All right. >> Um, I'm a third party content developer and since the last core update of TSC, the flare of the headlights have been broken and disappear as soon as you move away a few meters of the trains. Is there any announcement
    66:57
from DTG about uh taking care of this problem or not? uh something I can actually work with the TSC team on. Um right now we've got uh quite an important core issue that we're also trying to look at um that's impacting certain like crashes that are happening um from one of our core
    67:16
updates. It's still something we're looking at really closely and I know the team have some work um on this that they're hoping to get in um but weren't able to do before the end of the year. So that's that's kind of its own thing that's happening right now. Um, I can
    67:32
ask them about this issue. Um, I I don't know what level of priority we'll be able to give it within our teams, but I um I can ask them to take a look at it. I don't know when we can factor that in, but I know there is other ongoing work with TSC that we'll we'll talk about
    67:44
when the time is right um that it may be suitable to fix on. So, all I can say is um I can't make any promises and I certainly can't give you a time frame, but what I can give you is that I will talk to the team about that um flare headlights disappearing um and see if there's any more
    67:60
    >> if there's any more problem with >> sorry >> with screenshots. Uh you can go a few meter from the train and the fair disappear. It's a it's problematic. >> It sounds like it's logging out and then not coming back in again. Uh you can you can go away, they'll
    68:15
disappear and when you come back you can see them again. It's just about the prayer the prayer thing. Oh, >> okay. So it probably is just literally a lod related thing then. >> Okay. I I don't I must I'm out of the loop on um TSW the sorry TS Classic
    68:28
these days. So um I will Yeah, we we'll go and find out. >> I I'll make sure the team get that. If there's anything at all um screenshots, video, more details you want to send me um send me a message, tag me in it. I'll take a closer look. Um, it might help
    68:42
with how I share with the team. >> Okay. Okay. Thank you very much. That's that's all for me. Thank you. >> Thank you. Thank you very much. >> And uh, Fred Elliots, you were the last one on my list, so you've got an invite. Welcome to the stage when you join. Um, hello. >> How do pals
    69:02
and all that? Um, quick couple ones from me. Uh, first one from Matt, the uh, bug on PS5. Don't know if he's on Xbox. digital screen's not working. Any
    69:10
PS5 Digital screens not working, any updates?
    69:11
updates on that one? >> Uh I don't have an update for it, but it is on my get get this get this bug done as soon as possible in the new year list. >> No, it's brilliant. Thanks. And quick second one. Uh bit longer related to accessibility. So obviously on PS5, you
    69:25
Accessibility using the controller with stick sensitivity
    69:27
know, controls um the sensitivity on the right stick when you're trying to navigate, you know, the fiddly controls within the caps. Um very very difficult. And obviously what I find is that the camera's moving far too much even just with the slightest movement of the thumb
    69:44
stick. So there is an option to alter sensitivity in the options but it it applies to both left and right sticks. Is there any chance um either to lower the sensitivity by default on the right stick for moving the camera or alternatively is there a way to separate
    70:03
out uh and provide option for each stick sensitivity within the options? >> That's not a bad show. I can have a look into that. One thing I want to do is make it to air. Um at the moment it's very linear um in in the way that the the stick moves. You move it 10% it will
    70:20
give you 10% of the speed. Actually, I think there'd be a lot of benefit in having it where it was more a logarithmic scale, which is to say, you move it a little bit and you get very small amount of movement. You move it like halfway, you only still only be
    70:33
getting about 10% of movement, but then effectively the amount of movement you get will go, you know, much more cons much much faster, but as you move towards the extremes of it. So you get really fine control in sort of like the middle 50% of the range and then you get
    70:49
more coarse control on the top end of the range because generally if you don't want to do fine movement you kind of probably want to move as fast as possible uh because you want to turn around or something. So that's that kind of logarithmic scale mapping um between
    71:02
from the joystick is is one of the things I want the team to have a look at. Uh because I mean know I don't have accessibility issues. I'm very fortunate in that respect. I still find it difficult sometimes to uh and I find myself doing this trying to get to the

    Part 4
    71:14
control that I want to get to. So, um so I think some sort of um um improvement on that control um would be uh would would be a way of doing it. But I like the idea of splitting the sensitivities as well. Actually, that's an idea I hadn't thought of.
    71:28
    >> Yeah, that'd be great. And I have got an edge controller for uh PS5. So you can within the actual console settings, you can change the curve, but even uh even when it's on the one that is I don't know this the description is officially, but the one where it starts lower the
    71:46
bottom and then goes up the further right you go on the curve, but even on the lowest setting where it gives uh the finest control is still >> still pretty unwieldy with the camera. The other it also happens on the map as well. You know, trying to do switches.
    72:01
Yes. When you're moving the map around, I found that really difficult as well again because the sensitivity. Um, so any any sort of uh improvement in that would be very very welcome for me because I've got dodgy hands obviously. >> No. And it's just it's like I said, even
    72:17
if you haven't got dodgy hands, it can be frustrating. So it's something that uh I want to challenge the team to to try and improve on. >> Brilliant. very much. Merry Christmas. >> Thank you. >> Thanks for coming. Merry Christmas. >> Bye-bye. >> I know. I know. Just talking about
    72:33
accessibility, Matt. It's um it's something that we really focused on um with some of our last set of accessibility improvements we included. And it's it's it's not about making it more accessible for the people that need it. When you find it when you add in
    72:46
accessibility options, it helps everyone. Even people that don't necessarily need it, they find that that having that extra flexibility is something that if it's there, they'll use and they enjoy using it. So, um, they're really great. They're really
    72:57
great things to raise and talk to our team about because we love to hear that what what isn't working and how can we make it better. Um, >> yeah, totally.
    73:05
    Wrap-up and Seasonal Wishes
    73:05
    >> But, uh, but folks, that's that's I think we're going to we're kind of we're going to round it down there. I mean, what another great session. Matt, you've been wonderful. You're not even working today and it's your 30th wedding anniversary and that's absolutely
    73:16
incredible. Um, my voice is slowly going away, so I'm going to I'm going to close off there as well. But folks, what what an amazing year. Uh um and what an amazing way to to kind of round off. Um from us, we are internally incredibly grateful for everyone still supporting
    73:31
Train Some World, supporting our team, supporting us on these Q&As's, on road maps, in the community being involved. You're all absolutely fantastic and we couldn't wish you the warmest and most wonderful happy holidays and merry Christmas possible. Um take a look at
    73:45
the sales. If there's some discounts you can get, you get those discounts. Um take take advantage of them. I think there's some really good 90% off on some of them which are great. Um, but take a look across the various platforms. Make sure if you haven't, pick up Spirit of
    73:59
Steam for free. You don't even need to download it or play it. Just add it to your account and keep it forever and that entitlement will keep going. Just just keep it. It's it's yours to have. So, um, do that. And, uh, when we join you back in the new year, there won't be
    74:12
a January road map as a reminder, but we will get really quickly moving on some fun awesome stuff coming up in February. There'll be some new releases, no doubt. Um, and we'll get closer to that uh GWE remaster coming out as well, so you'll be able to get that in your hands real
    74:28
real soon. Um, and maybe there'll be some more fun news at the same time as well. So, um, I got a feeling next year is going to start off with an explosion of wonderful news and, uh, and we'll go from there because it's going to be a really great time. But
    74:44
    >> folks, what what an amazing session. Thank you, Matt. You've been wonderful today. No, thank you. And and I just reiterate, you know, my appreciation to everybody for the support uh and for all the feedback, suggestions, etc. It's brilliant. Um, you know, we appreciate
    74:57
you so much and uh have a really really great holiday and uh let's let's make 2026 even better. >> Can't wait. All right, for the people on YouTube, I'm closing your video here. Bye-bye.

Thank you OV for explaining. Might not have bought it as it is no longer a DTG game. I agree DTG should take down this forum, but it could be a source of reference.
