with the imminent release of tadami line on TSW, I’ve become obsessed with japanese railways so I bought the TSC base game and the tohoku high-speed main line because of E5 series (and I noticed the H5 series is also included in the pack)
as someone who has always played TSW but never TSC, I’m a bit confused by the controls, they seem quite different from TSW's and I couldn't find a tutorial for the E5 (I don't think there is one)
I also couldn't find an option in the graphics settings to lock the FPS
would it work if I use RivaTuner to lock the FPS at 60 (which is my TV's refresh rate)?
dealing with screen tearing is a hassle...

Sorry this response is almost a week late to your post but the basic driving controls for TSC include A and D for throttle, W and S for reverser alongside : and ; for brakes. H and Shift+H for cycling through headlight options, V for windscreen wipers, Space for horn and T for opening passenger doors (they will close automatically when done). These can sometimes vary or be more complex for DLC of high quality where in your case you could probably find in depth specific controls to drive the E5 in the route manual, every TSC DLC installs a manual for either a loco or route with specific info, controls, etc relevant to the loco / route. The level of specifics in the manual depends on the developer usually. According to SteamDB you can find the route manual which should have info on controls for the E5 through this directory in the RailWorks folder.

Alternatively you can find a link to the manual under “Links & Info” on the Steam page for the DLC.
IMG_7936.jpeg As for an FPS limiter, TSC has no in-built one and I don’t have experience with using one as I’ve never felt a need for it considering my game usually runs between 30-60fps naturally on my 60hz monitor. You would have to use an external program to limit the FPS of the game.

TSC does have a built-in FPS limiter. It is activated using a command line parameter. Go to the Technical Reports forum here on the DTG TSC forums & look at the thread titled All 119 Command Line/Launch Options - Which Ones Are Current/Obsolete/Incorrect Or Missing which lists the available parameters but, as the thread title implies, they don’t all work any more.

To run TSC with the FPS limited, you would use the -FPSLimit=xx parameter. Another useful one is EnableAsyncKeys which will allow you to accelerate in-game time.

Wow thank you for the correction! I’ve been playing the game for more than a decade and never knew this! :o
Awesome how there’s always new stuff to discover with TSC!

wow, thank you for the infos
I have succesfully locked the FPS using nvidia control panel for the RailWorks64.exe process specifically
but I'll test the launch parameter anyway
    thank you again

In-game frame limiting didn't solve screen tearing for me - that's vertical sync.
Yes, the NVidia control panel works best. Mind you it only works full screen.

yes, lock the fps with the launch parameter has the same effect than doing it with rivatuner, it locks the fps to 60 but screen tearing remains
only activating vsync (and also locking the fps to 60) using nvidia control panel actually solves this
