I had this problem last year on pre release for PS5, when it rectified when the routes and trains that were my top ones, were actually released. Currently having the same issue this year on PS5, but not on steam where I have all the content.
I’ve described my findings so far... I’ve only tested the Freight Hauler once on the German map, and aside from driving outside the "playable" zone, I didn't encounter any major issues... if you have any significant bugs or observations in this regard, please post them here.
Driving outside the playable zone is actually the one thing that hasn't happened to me yet, but I have only driven on the Tri-Rail route so far. If you are interested I have made many posts about Freight Hauler on Tri-Rail in the freight hauler feedback thread, here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/freight-hauler-feedback-thread.99414/
Well, look at that it has its own thread... yet you expect me not to forget the freight hauler in a post about the core. Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check it
Sorry, I wasn't trying to set any expectations, just adding on to your appreciable list. I apologize for any offense.
PC - Steam Several jouney mode scenarios, tutorials and services have lost their scoring/medals. This is across multiple dlc including gameplay packs, loco dlc and routes. Included are 5 screenshots, There are more DLC affected by this, but the forums only allow 5 attachments. As someone who likes to use journey mode this is severely dissappointing to see.
Wanted to add on that this only seems to affect jouney mode. Medals are still there in timetable mode and the regular scenario menu
So you delete a train blocking your path and you still lose your information in the top left hand corner. Doesn't save your settings and i have to sign in every time i play . Xbox series x.
I’ve had the same problem ever since this option was added to the game. However, the information reappears once you reach the next task. It’s just annoying when you still have a lot of kilometers left to drive. Das Problem habe ich bei mir auch, seit diese Option im Spiel vorhanden ist. Aber die Info kommt wieder, wenn man die Nächste Aufgabe erreicht hat. Ist nur doof, wenn man noch viele Kilometer zu fahren hat.
I understand the frustration, but honestly, “passing” on something you get for free with the Starter Edition makes very little sense to me. TSW 7 gives you the new features and will continue to receive updates, while TSW 6 won’t. You don’t really lose anything by upgrading (for free!).
I find this way of thinking quite remarkable… You’re getting TSW7 for free and you’re getting updates, so why wouldn’t you choose TSW7? The core is much more stable, and you’re getting a huge graphics upgrade for free. It’s simply better you should go for the TSW7 free starter pack! If you’d rather not pay for the core routes and trains, that’s completely understandable things still aren’t very stable at the moment. If you say you want to wait a few months, that’s perfectly fine. But please choose the free starter pack; it really is a good deal. And no, I don’t work for DTG or anything like that I just see the potential it offers you.
In my opinion, the core feels the same, but with the new settings and with smooth Motion. The performance is way better. I installed the Nvidia studio driver, turned on the Bar option and set the upscaling to 1.78 in Nvidia configurator. Everything looks sharp now, with smooth Motion, I set my fps to 26, because I have 59/60hz screen. With smooth Motion, everything is smooth enough for me. I stayed the doubled fps a bit underneath the screen Hz, otherwise you get a lot of tearing. My videocard is a 4060 8gb, average not special. This was also possible in tsw 6. But Dlss made a big difference in tsw 7.
My experience so far is that it is approximately the same regarding instability. If you are very worried about stability I would just turn off the AI conductor in the settings. Nothing else makes a difference apparently.
Hi. I wanted to let you know that CSX SD40-2 On Florida Tri Rail has a few issues. I think the Number board lights don't seem to work. Seems to have Ditch light issues such as not turning on and when they do actually work they do not flash as they do in real life and as they did in previous versions of Train Sim World. Also wasn't sure if the YN2 Liveries Were left out intentionally or like the GP38-2 got messed up somewhere down the road as that YN2 Livery has been broken since TSW 2's Rush Hour Update. My Platform is XBOX Series X.
Okay Guys. I NEED the camera movement of the former games back because I HATE the new controls. I’ve spent a couple of thousand hours in this game series and I’m used to a certain way how the camera works and this is not working for me. In need the old settings as an option
PC/Steam My game Setting: FSR and DLSS not used;Using TAA with a resolution ratio of 200% Problem: After exiting the game and re entering, the game screen will change to a resolution ratio of 100%, but the menu still displays a resolution ratio of 200%. You need to apply the settings again to change it back.
The new (fifty shades of) grey look of the game is for sure personal taste, but the new core routes icons with grey on grey look terrible.
I notice with DLSS/DLAA, TSW3 - TSW6 routes look fuzzy/grainy, especially those that have 3rd rail and catenary wires like NY-Stamford and NY - Trenton. The newest TSW7 routes handle DLSS/DLAA very well keeping the Assets clear and crisp
Something I have noticed that the AI conductor mode reverts it self back of off between game sessions on playstation don't now if this is getting fixed on day one patch probably isn't.
Having now had some time attempting to play with the new free core update... Cons: PC, Steam, XBox controller, can confirm the new bizarro inputs on a pad are literally unplayable, as in, it renders it physically impossible to play the game on a controller for me. It's either moving at an absolute crawl or at lightspeed, with no gradient inbetween. It's physically impossible to select any controls to interact with in the cab. I literally have SteamInput disabled at the system level on Steam because it often forces this same stupid behaviour on loads of games that have perfectly good native controller support like pre-7 TSW versions have. I've uninstalled now and can confirm I will be skipping TSW7 altogether unless there's a reversion of the inputs to something that works. I was also wholly incapable of using the free camera, as it felt like teleportation, looked like it too with the instantaneous movement to the first impenetrable object in its path. Impossible to line it up anywhere useful. Goes without saying they failed the simplest task of implementing pause menu behaviours correctly AGAIN by having the default for tapping right on the dpad be to go to quit instead of settings. I shut the game down by mistake the first time I tried to edit my controls. Classic DTG. Pros: Was nice turning DLSS quality mode on and suddenly being able to set everything to Epic and still actually GAIN an additional net +50% FPS, and not having TAA made everything much crisper. So much for all the times back in the TSW5 and 6 era that DTG said upscaling didn't improve anything in their testing. Who needs frame gen when some routes are exceeding 120fps? Additional useful observations of note from my time testing, since it came up while attempting to find a "sweet spot" which eliminated or at least minimised the new stick behaviour: The stick sensitivity always displays when entering the settings menu as set to high, even if I manually edit it in the settings ini file to a lower amount, and subsequently save it as read only prior to launching the game. This appears to be a n easily reproducible visual bug, as when changing it, the actual sensitivity perceivably changes, it just always defaults to showing the current selection as high upon reopening the menu. This may be related to other settings menu "not saving" issues and could denote that they too are simply a matter of it not properly displaying what is selected. Anyway, since I didn't have anything else I was interested in purchasing for earlier TSWs, you can consider me a lost customer going forwards.
Xbox series X. So far so good, although I'm not a fan of the new "modern" User Interface. Just a couple of quibbles so far.... The font size on the Track Monitor seem far too big compared to previous versions. And secondly, what the hell is the script with the external camera ??? Almost impossible to control, even with settings on slow.
Why does the track monitor now have a massive ‘Distance’ label which cuts off the top of the speed limits? I do continually find some of these UI choices baffling. Particularly spending time/effort on things like that when there are other, far more fundamental, things that need fixing.
[PS5 Pro, install size 200GB] New camera controls on controller is awful. Just do what every single other game does with look & movement mapping for analogue sticks - why are we trying to re-invent the wheel here? It’s so laughably poor, like pushing your right stick to the edge & then rotating it 360 degrees draws…a square. Basically all control that isn’t at the 12, 3, 6 & 9 o’clock position is essentially missing. Having the images for trains & routes loading after the loading screen coming back to the menu is awful on PS5, it’s around 30seconds of stuttery mess - you basically end up just waiting what you would have with the load screen anyway. I don’t even own all routes, Christ knows how bad it is if it would have to load them all. AI conductor has so far been quite a nice edition, something that feels like it was always missing. It does not however seem to save when quitting the game. Live Weather transitions are way better than what’s been shown before today, no idea on the accuracy though as I haven’t been comparing to real time & location. So far it’s looking like this will be my go to setting. FOV setting has been a god send, some cab positions are really, really bad & whilst it doesn’t completely solve it, it’s a much better experience in certain cabs. Again, safety systems defaulting to on is a god send & has really helped to overcome a long standing issue of not having enough setup time on the start of your service, as well as the realism aspect of it. Menus UI is basically as most others have said, way too bright & has legibility issues. Most of the art shown is TSW5 anyway, don’t see why the background colours have been changed unnecessarily & to be worse. Settings menu needs some serious reorganisation, options just seem to be randomly scattered under every sub menu. All routes still show as new. Duplicate trains all over the show in selection menu. In general the main menu seems to get adjusted in all the wrong places each year, usually making something else worse. No effort goes into fixing any issues with it - never mind improving the menu, hell, never mind just not making it worse. AI Conductor, FoV slider & Safety System toggle are really strong additions & certainly much better than many other things added as core features over the years, but as a console user that’s pretty much where the positives end for the core. Nowhere near enough fixes for long standing issues (If any really), time getting wasted on making the menu worse & notably another iteration of TSW where blurry textures have gone unfixed. Absolutely should not have happened.
Same here. Immediately noticeable. It was fine in TSW6. Some other text seems large as well, like open/close door. PS5 menu is so laggy, it loads in quicker but you get the circle loading things going on. I’d rather it take longer to load and it all be ok when you arrive at the menu. One positive. Game now loads a lot quicker with all my routes installed from the PS5 Home Screen.
It entirely defeats the point of analogue inputs when you make them scale to such extremes. I think this may be the first time in many years outside of scamware that the term "literally unplayable" has lacked any sense of hyperbole. They really need to just let someone who properly understands UX and UI design, and accessibility cook with the menus for once.
+1 for the camera controls being completely hopeless. Bring back the previous ones as an option please!
I’m really understating how bad the analogue control is too, there is essentially nothing when you move outside of the strict angles, but wayyy too much when you do get movement. It’s like they’ve mapped the controller to WASD & then imagine trying to increase or decrease pressure on the keyboard keys to get more or less movement. It’s really bad.
It's sad when you have to give up a game you enjoy for such a stupid reason. This is one time I am super relieved that previous calls to make the update just be to the base game have not been heeded because we can stick with TSW6. Otherwise, for me this would be like that time the XBox version of Elder Scrolls Online added a 30fps cap to its heavily animated menus, the team not accounting for the fact that without the hotkeys available on PC that is where players spend about half of their ingame time. It took over a year for them to revert that decision, but at least I had a lot of new quests when I came back after the game stopped giving me migraines.
Why is DTG changing things in TSW 7 that worked brilliantly in TSW 6? And that awful menu – which was actually brilliant in TSW 6 – DTG has now gone and messed up as well. And the fact that settings aren’t saved is something we already had in TSW 6 – DTG, why wasn’t that fixed, instead of making it even worse in TSW 7? DTG, you’ve known about all these bugs since every version of TSW – why aren’t even these bugs being fixed for a new version, instead of introducing new ones? DTG, I’m probably speaking for a lot of users here. If you don’t finally sort out some issues with TSW – particularly regarding menu settings that aren’t saved, as well as a few other bugs that have been around for quite some time – then you’ll eventually have to stop developing TSW, because no users will be buying it anymore.
Playing on Xbox Series S, diagonal camera movement speed is significantly slower then straight up/down/left/right. First person character movement is the same, fine straight forward/back but like walking through mud when trying to move diagonal. Makes control feel very un-fluid and difficult to master.
Agreed. Definitely quicker to load in (245GB install on PS5 Pro) but loading back to the main menu is a bit rough. The updated live weather seems pretty good now the transitions have been ironed out, though.
No idea what else has been broken, but can someone else check if their TFW 150 has its bogies? Mine on PS5 are now inside the unit itself.
On PS5 I drove half a service on the NEC Boston-Providence-route using live weather, and encountered a sudden weather transition. It wasn't as sudden as the ones on the Tri-Rail preview stream, but the sky changed from complete overcast to clear in under a minute.
And there is butt load off jobs that have lost there score and medal and in place just a white tick. This is over journey mode and timetables.
XSX has anyone else’s “enhanced lighting” setting disappeared? Noticed in-game that the lighting looks different and now, I can’t find it in settings? Seems to have happened after this update. thanks.
You play on a XBOX? "XSX" So yes its not available on consoles. Enhanced Lightning is PC only for now.
It's silly because literally every other game I have played in this last week has had an option for small/medium/large font size.
Just discovered a fun (aka annoying) glitch with the Class 333 on Airedale & Wharfedale...sometimes when the Realistic Conductor shuts the doors after you switch it from Neutral back into Forward, the buzzer that is supposed to briefly go off will go on continuously until you stop and open and shut the doors again. Gave me quite the headache (literally).
Agreed. Although, I have to (perhaps uncharitably) say it’s not immediately obvious on some of these which are bugs and which are design choices. I had Matt’s stream on briefly earlier on and I think he said something about the font sizes being a Steam Deck requirement. But 100% agree some options/choice on this would be welcome.
Platform: Xbox Series X So I've just taken my first run after downloading TSW7. I chose the 31 and Blackpool Branches and the run and the route was beautiful. From my first run my feedback is as follows: Positives 1. I like the safety system feature and it seems to work well enough from my limited testing. 2. I personally don't mind the light UI I like the colours but there are aspects which are frustrating. 3. I'm getting along okay with the camera but on slow it is a little sensitive on external view but not uncontrollable (in my experience). Lovely to do some proper fly bye shots on console! Constructive feedback 1. The black shaded areas on the UI make it so hard to read stuff. 2. The text in the UI needs to be bold/darker so it's easier to read. 3. The objective marker on track has the same issue - not as clear to see it. 4. The Camera is usable as I said but the diagonal axis is definitely a bit sluggish although this hasn't impacted my play a lot. 5. Having to copy across all of my settings and wait for downloads again was frustrating.
I'm not of fan of the quality control and think its very poor but credit where credit is due the performance on my older routes is night and day from TSW6 solid FPS doesn't even blink now very impressed with this!! But agree above the size change on the screen UI I really don't like that, I want the same as TWS6 please.
Also, is there some new setting I was missing to turn off the deafening announcement voiceover in the cab?
