Unfortunately, the smoothness of the animation on the Medway Valley Line has dropped significantly for me in TSW7. And no, I haven’t set the graphics to ‘epic’ settings.

In TSW6, I only noticed mild stuttering between Strood and Cuxton and when approaching Maidstone West. The rest of the route was perfectly smooth.

In TSW7, despite stable FPS (above 60 FPS), I’m seeing mild stuttering along almost the entire route, while around Strood and Maidstone West the stuttering is so severe that not only the visuals but even the sound get cut out.

This doesn’t mean the route is no longer playable, but the driving experience has noticeably suffered.

In TSW7, I’m really only interested in the real-time weather (the train guard simulation is built into the Class 375 model anyway, so I don’t use the one in TSW7), so worst-case scenario, I’ll revert to TSW6. But perhaps there’s something that can be done about it?

No way!!! I haven’t driven the 375 yet on Medway but I have done a 700 run and the route on PS5 is far more stuttering.

Just tried Medway Valley also, can confirm the motor sounds are missing from the 375’s.

Performance was fine on the SEHS section of the route, but took a free roam service from Strood for a couple of miles & had near constant FPS fluctuation.

    This is also on PS5.

An absolute joke this game is from start to finish. I’m just beyond words now. Really am.

I noticed this too. The recent patch to Medway was not implemented on PS5 because it broke the traction sounds again. I was perfectly happy with that, as the fixes were not crucial and I liked the sounds.

Might be that the build with this patch was accidentally released on the TSW7 version of Medway. Hope this gets corrected soon.

Jetwash has kindly confirmed on another thread it was this exact issue, a patch being accidentally released, they’re working on it with DTG. Firefly are a great dev they’ll get it sorted I have no doubt about it

PC here. Ran this route for the first time. I like it pretty well. Don't have a lot of feedback. At one point at the start of the run in the north I thought I saw some cars floating or stacked in a weird way. Everything else was pretty smooth and looked ok. Nice set of layers. I like the straight stretch to Tonbridge.

I'm not blown away by the setting or scenery as some people were. It's fine.

I did wonder if it is really ocean-going vessels on all those canals and not canal boats?

If no one has noticed that medway Valley has had the update for dispatcher mode and rainbows if they will appear was pushed out ether on purpose or accidentally on playstation. Class 375 now has the sound bug of been very quiet Motor sounds. Hopefully the bug will get crushed and not swept under the rug.
    Video on ps5

It’s a Firefly route, they won’t sweep it under the rug. It’s a complicated issue that hasn’t been properly identified because it’s so bizarre and logically shouldn’t happen. JetWash will be able to provide a much better answer than me, I’m only reading his posts and basically copying what’s been said. As I understand it the wrong patch went out but they need to be able to get a fix on it so the route can update as time evolves. The very fact TSW6 PS5 sounds work is a bit of a miracle

If I remember that the class 375 on medway released broken on ps5 on the sounds so they can fix it again but they do need to stop it from happening again and again

I have to say... I really underestimated the visuals in this map. I guess TSW 7 defaulted back to some lower settings because at all Ultra on an RTX 3090 this route looks amazing. Ran the 700/0 segment.

JetWash is there anything you can tell us about the 375 sounds for the PS5? Looks like the patch that was held back earlier made it to the TSW7 iteration of the route (dispatcher mode works, sounds are broken again).

Play it on TSW6 for the time being, runs fine mate. I think a fix may be some time off for TSW7

    Hey.

Yes, that happened and it shouldn’t have but we are where we are.

The problem remains that this is totally random, it works one minute and not the other which is making it virtually impossible to pin down, particularly as it’s specific to the PS5. We’ve even seen it work on a test machine to then fail on the next boot-in. As crazy as that sounds it has given a potential avenue to explore, and it is now with DTG’s engineers again to try and figure out what the heck is going on.

The truth is also that the working version was a total accident. We had added some debug tones to the audio for troubleshooting and it suddenly started working. We then removed them and it kept working and that is the version you had in TSW6. As soon as we updated the route for the patch however the problem reoccurred, which as I’m sure you can understand is completely inexplicable. The train (nor its audio) was ever touched as part of that process.

We’ve been working very closely with DTG for months on this and it’s a problem that frankly I think we’d all rather wish we didn’t have. From a Firefly perspective we’re gutted that a) this happened in the first place and b) that we haven’t been able to rectify the issue. Personally I hate that it has dragged on as long as it has and we’re painfully aware that having to play it in TSW6 as a workaround is a totally unacceptable state of affairs. I should add that as part of the debugging process we created a completely new and simplified audio setup using the original structure(s) and the problem still happens. This just shouldn’t be the case, so hopefully that has put some meat on the bones as to why this has been so very difficult to pin down.

All I can do at this point is assure you that we will keep pushing and won’t stop until it is fixed once and for all. Right now however it is out of our hands as we have done everything that we can. It needs someone on the DTG side of things to dig down into what specifically is going on on the PS5 to cause this phenomenon.

*edited to add - In case anyone wonders ‘why that hasn’t happened already’, it isn’t that simple. We’ve had to go through all the previous steps to get to the point that this can happen. Just FYI ;)

Shame you can't just rebuild the 375 sounds from scratch. But i assume you've all thought of that :D

We did build them from scratch, and they work just fine on PC and Xbox. As I said, we also built a totally new set using the original audio blueprints for the 375 thinking that was a fallback option and the same problem happens.

Thank you for your comprehensive answer, as always. I assume it's also not as simple as reverting to the last build? (The one that is now still active as the TSW 6 DLC?). It might cost us the dispatcher mode, but I would personally rather have those sounds back...

PS really looking forward to your class 466 and the Sheerness branch!

We asked this, and were told that it wasn't possible sadly. I can't put into words how frustrated we are currently.

Honestly I know it’s not ideal, but I do recommend having TSW6 on board and just keep Medway for it until a fix comes. All the sounds are still working beautifully so thankfully we still have an option
