If it makes a bad noise, acknowledge it and pay closer attention to speed and signals. That basically is how I interpret it. :)

When it sounds a continuous horn or buzzing noise acknowledge it, this sounds at the approach to yellow or red signal and also in advance of some speed limits where there is a large decrease. You do not need to do anything when it rings a bell sound for about a second, that just means that the signal is clear.

First, You have to turn it ON :)

It works at designated points on the route. You will see some kind of slats between the rails.

Yeah you need to turn it on. Which train are you trying to use it on as the switch is in a different place on each train?

On the 166 the AWS is a switch on the fuse board behind the driver and on the 377 it's one of the switches on the second man's side of the cab.

Yes on the 377 you will see a set of round metal like key holes on the top of the second man's side next to the window
too the right of where you are, a key will turn them as you point at them, there is more than one to turn on, if you want them all on
    AWS, DSD,. Vigilance, DRA
best to turn them on before you turn Master Key On or the AWS alarms will start and you will need to jump in the seat to press B
