I have a problem with missing tracks at some places on the Welsh Marches Line route (unbranded). I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the route, but that didn't help. It's weird that if I save and then resume the track is as it should be. Any help would be very much appreciated!
The same happens to me. I don't remember all the areas but there are several parts with missing track (I remember Hereford was one of them). I tried to fix it by reinstalling it, but no luck.
I shall have a look at this route later tonight when I'm able to jump back into TS on the PC and report back if I find anything like this.
Right, so I've just run Newport to Ludlow via Hereford and so far haven't seen any missing track. I ran in outside view the whole time and came across nothing. Tomorrow I will try Ludlow to Shrewsbury and Cardiff to Newport to see if anything pops up. Just out of curiosity, are any of you running with the AP track enhancement pack? I don't have the AP track EP yet.
I tried both without and with AP track enhancement to no avail. I ran with inside view, but I that shouldn't make any difference. Do you have the branded or unbranded version of the route?
Right then. It would appear that this issue is random with no specific area/location each time it happens but definitely appears to be around stations. So far I've had it happen at Craven Arms (Southbound platform), Shrewsbury (although only visible when using world camera and flying around the station) and just now at Leominster station (Northbound platform). I have enclosed some screenshots below. Craven Arms I was in quick drive running Northbound to Shrewsbury Leominster Again in quick drive, this time Southbound
This is what I'm running: 16GB DDR4 RAM available (system), dedicated GPU (RTX2060 6GB). My game settings are set quite high but certainly not max and it hasn't been an issue with other routes missing track sections.
Looks like you have plenty of resources then, I used to get this myself until I upgraded by buying a new P.C, no issues now.
I'm running TS on very high settings on this PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X at 4.2 GHz 32 GB RAM 3200 Mhz (CL 14) RTX 3070 on 2560 x 1440 monitor TS installed on 4 TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD I doubt that the issue with missing tracks is caused by high graphics settings in TS, but I'll test with low settings.
It must be a display issue if you can save and resume which causes the track to reappear. Go in to Build and look at the same locations in the route Editor - are the tracks still missing?
As expected the track is visible in the route editor. It's very odd that they don't show up at some places when driving the route, but show up if you load a saved scenario. I tested with extremely low graphics settings and it didn't make any difference.
I have the same problem with the Welsh Marches Route. Usually but not always in stations. However if I save the game then resume it from the same point the tracks reappear. But the same thing will happen at the next staion. Tried different graphics settings and clearing cache. No difference to this problem.
It is thought the problem is due to the Quick Drive Scenarios on the route. Do a run over the route with either a Free Roam or a normal Scenario - the track should still be there. If not you should raise a ticket with DTG. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/reporting-a-technical-issue.31193/
This is and always has been down to recycled scenarios from the original branded WML to the Unbranded WML, they were copy and pasted over from the original routes route folder to the new version and either some track rules were changed between the two versions or something got corrupted in the copy paste, the only fix is to play scenarios actually built on the unbranded version which these days is pretty much all of them, I suggest looking on ATS or the Workshop for scenarios instead of playing the ones supplied with the Unbranded WML. Or if it's QD's you prefer learn how to make your own if there are none available (probably is but I haven't looked) there are plenty of YouTube tutorials on how to create basic to advanced QD's.
Yes, it's because of the two versions. The quickest way to fix such a QD is to open its ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin and delete each xml node referring to the trackrule - then the local trackrule from tracks.bin is used for the specific marker ribbon, that's what I did on Allgäubahn which had all tracks reappear afterwards. These nodes are named cScenarioNetworkProperties-cNetworkRibbonSimplePropertyReplacement Example: I've got two routes, one is a clone of the other and uses different tracks (AP, DB or whatever). I'm creating a scenario on the second route and place a marker. The above node will store the tracks used for that section, let's say it's AP tracks here. Now running this scenario on the first route that doesn't have these tracks, no track will be drawn at the marker section. Removing the reference to the tracks will have it use its default track that was specified for the location that marker or ribbon was placed on.
A quick look in the cScenarioNetworkProperties and the BlueprintID for the track shows a different folder <Provider d:type="cDeltaString">BMG</Provider> <Product d:type="cDeltaString">WelshMarches</Product> The route folder is called WelshMarchesLine - I have corrected the entries and I will give it ago.
And a Quick Drive from Salop and no missing track - only got to Wooferton but no problems. On previous runs the other track on the main and in the loop was missing.
I have the same problem of missing track sections but only with QD. My problem is that I can't find where the ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin file is located for the Welsh Marches route. The routes are just listed in folders with numbers for folder names in the common\routes folder where these .bin files are stored..
FIX quick search and replaced all "WelshMarches" strings with "WelshMarchesLine" to be compatible with the Asset folder name. Open the .zip, drop the Content folder onto your RailWorks folder. It will place an .ap file in WM's route folder containing the QD patch. Cache clearing is not required. Reminds me of another issue with Welsh Marches. Many textures don't include Mipmaps (devs - ALWAYS save your textures with Mipmaps!!!), leading to annoying flickering. I've started doing a texture pack for this, but it's a lot of work as you can't just replace the dds files but need to rebuild the TgPcDx metadata.
No I haven't played TS for weeks, I'm saying that I still had missing tracks even though I own both versions and you stated if you own both then it wasn't an issue. My original post that you quoted should've said "got" not "get" for clarities sake , my bad on that.
Edited my post. Maybe it is still an issue if you own both, because the original assets don't get preloaded (Not "ticked" on route level). Anyway the patch should fix that.
There is not a single ScenarioNetworkProperties.bin file - each Scenario has one. The Quick Drive Scenarios are 1a3a4305-88ae-4a35-80c1-cf6150680d3c & 40c403c1-6949-43d8-8b02-a9f88ec55026
Reef , michaeloward - try these QD Scenarios if you have the Steam version of the Welsh Marches Route They will need extracting and placing in the Scenarios folder \railworks\Content\Routes\57268762-965a-4379-9837-3e39210b4cb6\Scenarios
When I get five mins I will, I'm away visiting family atm and then back at work for four nights after that so it may be a bit before I can get to it.
If you install Peter's version then my patch will be overriden (as extracted files override .ap contents), just be aware.
