The big question is, will these routes see an update to fix known bugs?

Each of them is being looked at by the team, yes. We'll have more information of what exactly that entails a little later down the line.

That's good news, if the bug fixing is thorough. All these routes have the potential to be great and if they are, that will make a very attractive TS2022 package.

I would like an British Route, but as we had it last year, and the next route out will be a German one, I would guess that this year's Deluxe route at WCML South level would be Frankfurt - Köln.

I think this is a perfect selection: as a new player it's a great appetizer and as a veteran it's adequately priced per route (a bit short ones).

Last year DTG released Norddeutsche-Bahn: Kiel - Lübeck Route with TS2021 complete with all the Signalling faults

This year DTG will release Frankfurt – Koblenz with TS 2022 and I will be surprised if any changes are made to correct the signalling errors which were flagged to DTG TWO YEARS AGO and we are still waiting for you to fix it.

DTG JD you are the latest in a long list of DTG staff who promise faulty DLC is being looked at/expected to be fixed and it never is

I know Brandon was working on fixes for the Washington to Baltimore route, so at least that route should see some of its bugs taken care of.

Be interesting to know what if anything has been done to the base game.

So why's there no mention of any new features or revamps of existing ones? From what I saw of 2020 & 21 both said off the bat they'd have new features, yet there are none mentioned here. I would at least assume there'd be a mention of the fast loading feature they added earlier in the year, or perhaps even making that standard instead of being optional thing you had to config on your own.

That route was only released last year (so you can't have flagged it two years ago ;) ) - Also I know that I'll probably be called a liar for this, but Frankfurt Koblenz has been looked at, and there will be a fair few fixes/improvements for that route.

Looks intriguing, be cool to know if the base game is getting any new features. Be awesome to add a way out of the editor that doesn't go into play .

If you're talking about American Heavy freight. We've been heavily oversaturated with that by both DTG and third party. It's American passenger stuff that usually comes far and few. Let's also remember you have that B&O route coming out. Prior to that, we just recently got the Tecachapi Pass, the Arizona Divide.. That's not even including the freight loco dlc that's all come in between. So 3 freight routes to one passenger route (NEC Was-Bal) so far we will have received within less than a year's time.

Thats great for long standing players with lots of routes already, for those of us still relatively new to the hobby without an unlimited budget the chance to buy 3 routes for effectively not a lot more than 1 DLC a better spread of routes would be beneficial.

Aside from the Birmingham Cross City Line the other two included routes look to be really nice. Are there gonna be any updates to the core game or features added?

So it doesn’t make sense that we’re getting previous routes that came out with TS2021 when TS2022 is coming out

No, all the routes were originally new stand alone DLCs that came out at various times over the past year or more, they are just now all bundled into TS2022, mainly for people who don't own any of them, or to get new players onto TS. Its always been like this for TS for quite awhile now.

    Define good spread :)
The yearly is always a worldwide set. The two non-US routes offer me trains I don't have in my collection of 400+ DLC.
There was one time with region-specific collections.

US freight is very opinionated. I like it. The three regular complaints: slow, difficult (or basic, or oversimplified) and samey.
Also, people interested in US freight fairly soon bump into restricted DLC. And then file endless topics and negative reviews.
Third party sites often sell older packages and past ones have freight in them. Look around, might find something nice.
I also suspect DTG can't easily put 3rd party routes into the yearly. Nor is it nice to pick something old.

As for budget, dump all interesting routes into your wishlist and wait for sales. Can't beat the ultimate 4€ per route (not to mention 0.33) but there are a bunch of potentially interesting older routes that should be 10€ tops during sales. Plus, you can choose what you want instead of taking the cheap thing that DTG decided for you.

E.g. if you want versatile ecosystem, you could buy Sherman (the new package), Donner, Soldier, Feather in this priority alongside all the DLC (the DTM GPs are rather nice). Or you could buy routes only, or optimise versatile engines. Or newer ones because prettier. Choice.

I was mixing my dates up seeing TS2022 and this post complaining about it is August 2020.

Shop around for Steam keys for older editions of TS. I got started with TS2016 (which includes Sherman Hill) and bought TS2019 (Soldier Summit and the Salt Lake City extention) and enjoy both though I admit I have little to compare them with. A quick Google suggests that keys for both are still available for considerably less than the usual average cost of a single DLC. Other editions may appeal.

Already done that with 13, 15,16 &18 :D and also picked up a fee other routes to boot. Problem is for none US players seems a lot of the existing older US freight routes like donner pass are region locked or aren't reduced as I've only been able to get Clinchfield and Sherman hill on the cheap

Really good news that DTG are releasing TS2022 means DTG keep supporting this game which is fabulous, the other intresting bit its the announcement of new route to make the Deluxe version, intresting to see what country is the route based.

Core updates are changes to the actual game - it does also usually come with a selection of routes.

The Core Update everyone gets for FREE - that way everyone is playing the same version of the game
You only get the routes with TS2022 if you Buy TS2022

I had to admit I had wondered if you got the core update without buying TS2022 or not. Looking forward to the stream tomorrow, that is one question I don't need to ask now. I have to get up at 5am to watch :). Thanks for that 749006

There are still some annoying bugs. Spawnpoints in qd freezing so you can’t edit page two in the scenario editor, to name one. And ofcourse, the update we all are hoping for; true multicore support.

I am with you there I have an XFX Merc Radeon 6800XT with a 5800x Ryzen processor, I can run TSW at near to 80 FPS on a 4K monitor. With most settings cranked up, it looks glorious. TS2021 only manages 15 FPS on the same set up. I actually run that on a 1080p monitor to get a decent frame rate. My personal preference is steam and early diesel scenarios, pottering about on routes with station yards picking up goods wagons etc. Not a popular preference on TSW, and there is no steam of course.

DTG ... You know that TS 2021 main screen (desktop) crashes too often. It's so unbelievably unstable and when it crashes then I always have to restart my computer!!! And this has been so for years now. Many people have reported about this problem thousands of times but DTG never reacted. Please don't just rename the program ... fix this most annoying problem.

I'm kind of surprised at that - are you running the 32 bit or the 64 bit version? I get consistently better framerates in TS than TSW. I run it at 2k.

They should fix a problem of your making?
IF you had TS2021 with NO reskins, NO third party add-ons, NO Freeware routes the game would run without a problem
Something like TSW2 - that runs ok because there it has the default stuff and that is it.

People add new free routes, free repaints and other add-ons.
The info that comes with these says "if this breaks your computer hard luck"
DTG cannot control what other non-DTG stuff you have added to the game but you think it is their fault?

I run the 64bit version. At 4K I get a very consistent 15Fps in TS2021, and 60 - 80Fps in TSW2 also at 4K. This is pretty good. Of course, if I cut TS2021 back to 1080p I get about 60Fps - probably not much point going larger, as I doubt TS2021 has 4K textures.

I've had vanilla TS2021 crash with the catch-all "out of memory" exception. Judging by the forum/reddit/social posts it happens to a lot of people. Its not out of memory, its just that its exception handler doesn't know what to do with whatever happened. Matt has talked about this on streams several times. It's not cool to make assumptions and belittle someone's problem like that of PuuvillaneMats - if you aren't getting crashes, then fantastic great for you but it doesn't mean other people do not.

I have a 3070 and at 1440p I get between 15 and 30fps depending on the route. On TSW2 with ini file enhancements and mods I get between 80 and 140 fps. I really wish TS2021 ran better
