A few initial thoughts There's a physics bug if I use step 1 brake at 50-70mph it works normally, but then if I release the brake and apply it again to step 1 it feels like a step 3 brake application even though the BC is still at 1 bar. Maybe the regen brake is kicking in fully for some reason. The train head, marker and tail lamps have really low LODs and disappear too soon. Other than that, there are no flange sounds that I can hear, doors sounds are wrong, the click and pop camshaft sounds not being there, and it being far too quick in weak field (notch 4) it's really nice.
I've encountered a bug/issue myself and have already created an thread in bug report section. For the ones interested take a look here; https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/br-class-313-dsd.47840/ Seems to be a bug with the DSD switch, once switched it's on and it remains on. Also.. There's no sound for the DSD to let you know you need to press it. Which requires you to drive with the HUD on unfortunately. I am curious if other people have this bug to. Remember you'll only have to switch the DSD switch once, and it remains activated during the whole run. Also I agree with bescot, the train head, marker and tail lamps have low LODs and they pop in rather late when having a Class 313 incoming. Pretty happy with it, besides the DSD and the LOD issue.
I’ve only done one scenario and one service, but I’m pretty happy. No idea what the train is like in real life, so unless there is anything major, I’m not going to spot it. It feels different to other trains and sounds different and it’s on my favourite UK line, so money well spent.
I'm tempted to get it. What are the sounds like with the window down? Does it get louder for example?
A work around is to apply throttle after the initial step 1 to release, then apply step 1 brake again. Step 1 - release - throttle 1 to 0 - step 1 Bit annoying but saves you unnecessarily braking hard/ excessive wheelslip
There was talk about 313s only using the Seaford branch with no 377s. I'm currently driving the 2C01 Seaford to Brighton and just passed a 8 car 377 going to Seaford
That would be similar to 1F96 on the BML. London Victoria to Seaford & Ore. Once a day, and after the 4 car 377 has arrived at Seaford (late evening) it spends the rest of the day running Seaford-Brighton services. (At least, IRL it does)
Couple of things for me:- Sounds are too quiet for my liking. Middle carriage lights don't seem to come on. Shame the PIS does not have scrolling text and station stops. Other than those and other problems mentioned, a nice addition to the fleet and good to see something different from 377's on ECW
Scorpion71 press the saloon lighting switch in the cab a few times and the middle car lights will come on. Actually if it's anything like the real life class 150 saloon light switches you have to press them a few times too to get the relays in each car to come on, so it not entirely unrealistic.
I have noticed that the brake settings don't show up on the HUD. leading to a bit of confusion over what setting I may, or may not, be in...
They show up for me, however it’s not where the power level is displayed. This is because the 313 doesn’t use a power/brake handle like the 377 but instead uses two separate handles, one power and one brake. To observe brake setting on the hud you can do two things- refer to the two % gauges below the power setting indicator (the left is dynamic and the right is air). If you disable dynamic brakes as is standard practice then dynamic should be greyed out. refer to the pressure gauges on the left of the hud.
Really? What is it with Britain and dynamic braking? Do they view it as some sort of Popish plot to conceive the death of the Queen?
I am done with the Class 313 Journey and I really really like that one. The only things that bug me are the silent DVD and the notch 1 brake bug where it acts as emergency brake. But other than that it was and is a joy to ride that train. Plus I got all 5 achievements on Steam for it
I’m really unsure whether or not to get the train now, because of the wholly inaccurate copy paste 314 door chimes. It is a massive immersion breaker for me.
Im always happy when releases match my expectations. That was nessecary after the surprise with the 187 and the immersion braking sounds of the tube stock. Well done DTG!
If your willing to overlook some of the issues, personally I'd say there are more benefits of getting the loco. If you're a fan of ECW, just the addition of some variety really does add to an already excellent route. Was playing a 313 Seaford-Brighton service and upon arrival at Lewes it was nice to see a 377, 66 and 313 altogether. Also, I find the 313 a nice use for scenario planner - while not realistic, I had fun with it on Isle of Wight and on London Commuter (creating an all-stop 313 service between Haywards Heath and Brighton).
Anyone else having issues with the second journey "Double Trouble"? After splitting the train at Lewes I depart but each time it crashes with a UE crash just after leaving Lewes.
I use mods but nothing which has affected ECW before and the 313 also runs fine in everything else I've used it in.... Just this one run that crashes.
Strange analogy but hey ho. I think Matt alluded to it, the dynamic brakes are too sharp and it probably is better to slowly guide the train to a halt for the passengers. I don't think there is a conspiracy. I don't know much about freight but see it more useful there. Plus if the standard brakes do a good job (which they do) what is the point in using something just to complicated matters?
You produce a mostly excellent DLC and you get immersion-breaking door chimes - J..z, you just can't please some people....
Those units are 40 years old, and probabily getting some spare braking shoes and disks is easier and cheaper compared to trying to get new motors or repair them (they are properly old tech, brushed DC motors) especially since those units are very near the end of their life (and putting new motors or refurbishing them would be a waste), that would be my guess why they decided to stop using the dynamic brakes, the overperfomance being more tied to the erratic in-game physics.
I think the train cab has that strange blue light source in cab in tunnels still. The gauges appear bright with lights off too but not sure if that is normal
First drive and from the US, but compared to the 377 and 387 this unit does seem to accelerate faster. It is a fun drive having to get back to using the brake handle instead of the combined one. Had AWS on and it worked fine.
Well, since the general consensus here and on Steam is positive, I guess I'll pick this train up. I do wish there were locos other than emus for UK routes, but I suppose that's the way it is now, unless we get some heritage units. Trains in all three markets seem to be like cars these days, you know one SUV looks pretty much like any other. Maybe it was always that way. I guess we can still play NTP, TVL, WSR and SPG and that's what I do much of the time. But when I've exhausted those, which will be a while yet, thank goodness, where will I go? If HSC was going to be set back in the 40's and 50's like it should have been, I'd be a tad more optimistic. Steam and/or transition is the hope I cling to. A N&W, D&RG or Woodhead fills my dreams. PS. Are there any German locos older than last Friday lunchtime? Surely there are, I've seen them in the movies.
For germany, I can recommend you the BR 155 ( constructed in 1974), the BR 143 (constructed in 1984) and the BR 363 (constructed between 1955 and 63) for the oldtimer part of the german rolling stock.
The 313/2s have had their rheostatic brakes isolated (and control wires disconnected) since Silverlink, they had a habit of getting far too warm with them cut in. It's nothing against the concept of electric braking, just to prevent faults, after all a set of blocks/pads is far cheaper than repairing fire damage.
Just had my first timetable run with the 313 on BML and so far so good but was surprised how few entries there are on the timetable. Maybe it’s true to life but can’t help wondering if I’m missing something. ECW seems to have many more services by comparison.
The 313s are specifically for the Coastway routes and don't really have much business north of Lovers Walk Depot. Though included on BML is a couple of diversion runs via Wiveslfield, regular ECS services and a return journey representing certain times when 313s are required to visit Selhurst Depot for maintenance. Apart from that, they'd look quite odd on BML.
I'm getting strange emergency brake applications. Safety systems are on but I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. Someone on here said it might be a bug with braking notch 1. Is that the case?
I believe there’s a silent DSD/DVD alert, which is causing the emergency brake applications. It’s a bug, however it’s best to keep these systems disabled for now.
Actually best to keep permanently disabled, as the real train doesn't have one. Just turn on AWS and be content.
It does have DSD but not DVD, which the game ties together. And DSD doesn't really come into play in the game, unless you're in the habit of standing up and walking around while driving.
