I only know about two shots of mine that qualifies, and the other one is terrible. This is from Daily Grind Over the Pass, near the end, descending from Truckee towards Reno & Sparks. Memories from five years ago
It can be anything. Signalling failure.. motive power failure needing to be dragged... derailments... glitches or errors in the game itself.. anything ... Even fashion failures when the AI decides to dump someone in 1950s clothing in a 21st century scenario... literally anything.
I usually delete those Anyway, for momentum's sake, here is that other one. I hope people returned from the sea to sweetwater and ready to share their much better ones
"Thunderbirds are go" Class 57 "Lady Penelope" rescues a failed pendolino on the WCML Trent Valley. Loco:- Class 57 (Dellner coupling), Class 390 Pendolino Route:- WCML Trent Valley
67 021 rescues a failed 225 set on an overcast day at Alexandra Palace on the ECML. Loco:- Class 67, Class 225 DVT Route:- ECML London - Peterborough
"Pull the lever, switchman!" "WRONG LEVER!" A hopper accidentally has its supply of coal dumped all over the yard in Altoona. Having seen the whole thing unfold, the crew of a nearby switcher has decides to take a break and watch the clean up process. Route Used: Horseshoe Curve Locomotive Used: PRR H10
"The stupid air pump quit again! What now?" ATSF Northern #2921 is extra cranky this morning, as her crew is forced to deal with a faulty air compressor in the midst of the Los Angeles morning rush. The train is scheduled to depart in just a few short minutes. A small crowd of onlookers have gathered to watch the crew members scramble to find a solution.
"Hurry up Bert. You've been up there an hour and we've got to get the trains moving again". How many blokes does it take to solve a signal issue? One up the ladder on the signal doing the actual work, 4 spotters (2 at either side of the bridge who are not visible here) and 5 standing around watching, nattering or checking their watches. A GNER HST (43114 "East Riding of Yorkshire") awaits clearance at a failed signal north of Peterborough on the ECML during a service to York. Loco: AP class 43 HST EP Route: ECML merge (ATS)
The most failed AI I've ever encountered. Not only is the SD45 sideways, the whole train was going at least 200 MPH! https://drive.google.com/file/d/16hWecs26whUKIUNyZuz1VuYo1Uorza97/view

66586 to the rescue of 90045 with traction motor failure just short of Colwich Junction. AP 66 + AP 90 Trent Valley
Due to OHLE failures between Doncaster and York on the ECML, services are being rerouted via Leeds. This however creates a problem. There are not enough GNER HST units available to cover services over the diversion route across the non-electrified Leeds line so class 67s have been drafted in to pull the GNER IC225 units between Leeds and York and vice versa. Here we see EWS 67022 and GNER 91103 'County of Lincolnshire' passing Neville Hill TMD on the York-Leeds line so it is able to continue the service northwards to Edinburgh. Locos: AP class 67, AP class 91 EP, AP class 43 EP and Sprinters Route: Harrogate Loop V2
One of my favourite times from trainspotting as a kid on Camborne platform. Once again one of the new shiny new Warships has failed and steam comes to the rescue. Grange from the Kingswear route, Class 42s from the Diesel Hydraulic pack., AP coaches in Maroon and Blood and Custard. Just Trains Cornish Main Line
Is there something about these Class 42 Warships? This one has had to be recovered from Teignmouth and is continuing the rest of it's service courtesy of a well worn but reliable Class 9F.
"Drivers Manual - Page 1,452 - Paragraph 3 - Subsection 4:0:0 clearly states ............ Failure to apply the brakes at the optimum time may result in a re-arrangement of your consist."
A BR Class 33 that was meant to take the Washford Wanderer passenger service on the West Somerset Railway has broken down during a foggy day, a BR Class 14 will take the service instead. Loco: BR Class 33 Route: West Somerset Railway
Continuing from my previous screenshot, here is the BR Class 14 passing the broken down BR Class 33 with the passenger service that the BR Class 33 was meant to take. Locos: BR Class 14, BR Class 33 Route: West Somerset Railway
LMS Streamlined Coronation Class 'Coronation' passes a broken down LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 on the East Coast Main Line. Locos: LMS Streamlined Coronation Class 'Coronation', LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 Route: East Coast Main Line
The update to the Wherry Lines V2 with improved level crossing gates, causes a major failure for the OTS Harrogate Loop routed trains.
OK.... well... this wasn't easy. SO many great entries that dealt with the theme brilliantly. Been visiting this thread on and off since 5pm trying to work this out, and I've arrived at the following. In 3rd place: With a brilliant Pendolino drag image, is cscarpenter. I loved fact that everything is virgin colours, and of course, the Vulcan Productions class 57 is brilliant and I'm so pleased someone used these assets in this thread. Well done. 2nd Place: malakhit with his landslide image. Love the lighting and great use of depth of field. It's horrible to use in game, but when done right, it works really well for screenshots, and this image is a great example. 1st place: Blazin with his West Somerset Railway image. I loved everything about this. The lighting, and atmosphere, the colours.. the composition... the correct numbering for the loco. Even the typical British workman getting his priorities right (cup of tea) LOL. Super screenshot. Well done all. They were all excellent, and it really was a nightmare to judge. Over to you Blazin. I look forward to seeing what theme you choose!
Thank you so much everyone, and congratulations to the 2nd and 3rd place winners. The new thread is up, the theme is "Unique Consists / Unique, Weird or Unusual Trains" https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-contest-2022-week-21.54979/
Hi, I'm just letting you know that this is an old addition to the Unofficial Screenshot Contest 2022, current one can be found here but this week's one will end very soon. Here's the link to the thread. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-contest-2022-week-27.56425/
This is a weekly competition, and you are posting in an old one. There is a new thread each week. The next one will be up soon, and it will be week 28. I'm sure this has gone wrong somewhere as it's not actually week 28, but the thread will be titled " Unofficial Screenshot Contest 2022 Week 28"
I'm pretty sure it actually is week 28, the official contest is a week behind because Dovetail took the week off for the screenshot contest not too long ago.
