Its not an extension, its a game play enhancement, the route will not change, just more trains to run on it. Think more along the lines of the anniversary Arosa pack and Diesels of the great western. Neither added anything to the route itself but gave additional game play elements.
Most likely going to be reskins on the Jubilee and 8F with a few extra scenarios added onto an existing route.
Please God just say "No" to steam liveries! What steam desperately needs are more locos. The world is empty and unconvincing without the variety.. At the moment Sos is just a steam driving exercise.
Any chance of a bit more information, or a link, for those of us who don't know what you're on about?
There's a new entry on the roadmap, (Link) If you need help finding it, or indeed don't want to spend the time dig for it yourself it's this one that the OP's talking about. [3.GAA-E6 01] Route Expansion Pack (UK) (developed by Rivet Games) If you go to the following link it mentions in detail how the code system works. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/cracking-the-code.25968/ Based on the code it's a British steam era expansion pack, set in the UK around the 1990's or 2000's. One more bit of info you might find helpful, is this post from JD explaining what a expansion pack is.
I misread "expansion" as "extension" and got excited, thinking that finally we'd get something like the long requested Oxford/ Didcot extension for GWE. Then I read JD's clarification, which immediately killed all my hype. I can't think of a single one of these expansion packs that I've enjoyed.
I think the only thing I can guarantee in life if that this route won't be extended. DTG have said it's just too old and incompatible with the new way of route building and that it would have to be rebuilt from the ground up. Would be more likely getting a complete rebuild with the lizzie line.
The additional services for SKA were quite nice, but yeah generally they've been fairly inconsequential.
From what's been said, I see this will be a steam add-on. However, what we really need for a 'route expansion pack' is a Valenta powered HST for West Cornwall, and in 1990s InterCity livery. I know... dream on!
I hope for something that is going to be true to live with some new liveries never seen before. If it's WCL, NTP or even TVL; as long as it is true to life and a splash of new color, with some tight and busy action on the stations, I'm all in. I love that old UK content.
The only route also in era 6 is West Cornwall, West Somerset being 7... If it is for WCL I can only hope that we get the updated & modernised loco as the Jubilee from Bossman Games for TSC that the TSW one is based on already has a modernised cab modelled. So for me it's either 1930's loco on modern route like has been done on SEHS and no purchase, or modernised Jubilee for WCL that can then sub in on SEHS for the rail tour, a definite purchase. Oh and also the 8f.
The route code has more to do with the era the locomotive ran in rather than the era of the route. Like diesel legends had like a 5 or 6 I think which is 1950s but the actual route (gwe) was set modern time.
Not necessarily. The 'route expansion packs' such as Diesel Legends have been additional locomotives or reskins plus an additional timetable. In this case, it seems to be either a new or reskinned steam loco.
Matt has already explained in the roadmap stream that expansion packs don't include a new loco or additional track. Diesel legends only included locomotives that end game already had such as the 52, 08 and 101. There was nothing new. So it's not a new steam locomotive. A new steam locomotive would be a loco pack, not an expansion pack
