I've double-checked and 10:48 Man Vic - Leeds is definitely correct and (for me) appears for classes 40, 45 and 47. The fact that passenger trains on NTP don't have headcodes can make it trickier to pick out specific trains!
I am enjoying some time back on MKZ and I found this run: IC 613 Munster to Munchen - Drachenfels with the 103 @15:26 There are no scheduled stops before you arrive in Mainz, but . . . Spoiler: Run it first! . . . you have to wait on a 110 service shortly after Bingen; the dispatcher eventually lets you pass it.
Fellow lovers of signal checks and variety in TSW Timetable Mode may be interested to see Jane's post here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/midland-mainline-skyhook-feedback.69452/page-39#post-662902 I'm already starting to see signs of this approach on the re-vamped MML timetable (I'll put some interesting runs in this thread, soon) and it's great news that a developer is actively going to try to avoid every journey being a green-light run.
Returned to the magnificent Niddertalbahn today and found a good one. RB (3686) Frankfurt (M) Hbf - Stockheim (Oberhess) with Br 628 at 17:22. Obviously, it’s quite relaxed considering the route we’re talking about but there’s quite a bit to see on this one. Make sure to also do the following stabling service by returning to free roam for a small surprise. Spoiler When departing Bad Vilbel, a Br 103 IC rushes past you. Along the route, you have multiple train meets - multiple 2-car RBs, a V60, and a 4-car RB if memory serves. The nice surprise in the stabling service is the little engine that could . The V60 you met earlier pulls into Stockheim just as you’re driving into the siding.
Another nice MKZ run: SE (14401) Bad Kreuznach to Mainz Hbf at 08:09 with the 628 Plenty of PZB action. Spoiler: Spoiler You get into a bit of a log jam shortly before Ingleheim. Then you follow a 110 service into Mainz.
Thanks for those service suggestions Lamplight and JustWentSouth - I definitly know what I'll be doing today after work is done
An excellent freight run on MKZ: (69750) Trier to Manheim - Part 3 at 07:08 Leave as soon as the initial red clears. This happens at about 7:09; don't wait until 7:10. No real spoilers, just an hour of TSW PZB goodness! You wait on stopping traffic, you get adverse signals from opposing traffic, traffic waits on you. Run PZB mode M and be aggressive about getting up to 120 when you can. There is a timed wait at Bingen for 3 minutes. You are “scheduled” to leave Bingen at 7:44:30. Leave as soon as the red clears. Don't wait for the 3 minute timer. The run will change depending on what time you leave. You may want to get reacquainted with the braking behavior of the 110. The smoother you can run, the quicker you will get to Bingen. Thie Part 2 run is also good, so you might want to start there. Again, leave as soon as the red clears. Don't wait for the timer.
I recorded a train race on Northeast Corridor: New York - Trenton between NJ Transit Trains 3961 & 3175, between LANE Interlocking & Linden. I deliberately went slower when I operated 3961 to "prolong" the race to Linden. When I showed it from 3175, the AI wasn't as "playful" & overtook me in Elizabeth. You can watch it here if the embed doesn't work properly.
Several of the eastbound 1400 Bad Kreuznach to Mainz services with the 628 encounter similar issues, but usually with a slight wrinkle. Of the ones I have enjoyed so far, SE (14415) is a favorite: a nice night time run (in winter) with plenty of AI and a PZB surprise or two. An action packed half hour!
As I enjoy yet another new set of SEHS services with the class 33, I thought I would pay some homage to a timetable and a route that dominates this thread and my TSW time. I started off by re-reading this article: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/articles/article/tsw3-sehs-a-timetable-deep-dive I thought I knew SEHS pretty well, but now I have a large list of runs to try. This brought to mind a question about all the seasonal services on SEHS. All are drivable any time of year, but are seasonal as AI. They can affect the kind of AI you encounter and potentially make an awesome run relatively routine if done in the wrong season. I also realized that there is no comprehensive list of all the seasonal runs on SEHS. So, here is my first attempt at creating that: RHTT: September, October, November. Class 37 ROG: is this seasonal? Class 33 rail tour: winter - months? TGV: March, April. 465: summer services June, July, August Steam Railtour: July- December Charity Javelin: is this seasonal Can anyone help me make this more complete and more accurate?
Class 37 ROG between January and March. The Charity Javelin is all year round. I think that is right. Can't speak for the 33 though
The Kentish Crompton (Part 3) 1Z33 on SEHS with the Class 33 is a fabulous run. First of all, the 33 is no sportscar when it comes to braking. Add that to a challenging set of signals as you deal with stopping traffic as well as opposing traffic, and you have quite an immersive 50 minutes. Highly recommended.
Here's another one for LBN, Class 66 4Y19. Nice stretch of adverse signals with at least one SPAD potential. Combined with frequent and varied traffic makes for a nice run.
:headscratch: I can´t seem to find those services?! The only two I see for the 33 are 1Z18 & 1Z19. I´m on PS5?!
Have you looked at WonterRails latest SEHS Timetable it includes an amazing amount of detail. Might help. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/wonterails-service-mode-timetables.17878/page-2#post-253075 https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/wonterails-service-mode-timetables.17878/page-4
I spawned on foot 12 times to determine the months of the Class 33 Rail Tour. Those months are March, April, and May. So, this is what I think is the correct list of seasonal services on SEHS: RHTT: September, October, November. Class 37 ROG: January, February, March Class 33 rail tour: March, April, May TGV: March, April. 465: summer services June, July, August Steam Railtour: July- December Let me know if you see any errors.
Did you spawn on foot with each individual service? The 37 ROG services are split between Jan-Feb and Mar-Apr. Haven't managed to test Class 33 yet as been busy with real life. The Steam Railtour is June-December. Not forgetting their are two seasonal Class 47 railtours as well. But I am unsure as to when they appear. If I have time later today I may see if I can find this is correct as I'm not 100% certain.
Very much agree - Joethefish is there any way you can look into such regarding the timetable menu - especially for the likes of SEHS - which say when such seasonal services operate by month(s)?
I spawned on foot at noon at Faversham for all 12 months and saw the 47 Rail Tour services in May, Jun, Jul, and Aug. So, here is the updated list: RHTT: Sep, Oct, Nov Class 37 ROG: Jan, Feb, Mar Class 47 Rail Tour: May, Jun, Jul, Aug Class 33 Rail Tour: Mar, Apr, May Steam Rail Tour: Jun-Dec TGV: Mar, Apr 465: summer services Jun, Jul, Aug I am on PC and can't launch into The Kentish Crompton Part IV Class 33 Rail Tour. I kept randomly spawning on foot and this has already been reported in the technical issues forum. However, you can spawn on foot at Dartford at 21:40 in March, April, or May and the service will stop beside you shortly after 21:42. The 33 gives off a nice AI horn as it approaches the platform! That is an interesting run up to Dartford and relatively straightforward afterwards.
Yet another of the Class 66 runs in LBN is 0O57@1537. First off make sure you release the parking brake in the trailing units, and let the air brake charge. When you're finally ready to depart prepare to encounter many adverse signals. You will probably have to stop at least a few times but certainly more if you get too aggressive with speed. Keep an eye out for the 313 at Selhurst!
Here's a really interesting one, this time it's train #606 on Harlem. First we get to start at White Plains which is not typical. You'll be getting ATC alarms up to around Bronxville, then you think it's clearing up but ATC strikes again near Mott. Watch the platform at Harlem, and even after that you'll have to deal with more traffic coming in and out of GTC... keep your eyes open!
Yet another great run on the Harlem Line. Such a fun route! Here is the latest update, now with over 100 TSW3 runs. Please let me know of any errors or omissions. Sherman Hill the last timetable in the 1st chapter of Rail Journeys. Running into Cheyenne. I love the scenery on Sherman Hill!
One of my first runs on the Glossop Line and it's a good one: 2G02 Manchester Picadilly - Hadfield via Glossop at 06:26 with the Class 323 NT Run it in May to encounter the Class 40 Railtour. I believe this requires NTP and the Heavy Freight Pack as well as Tees Valley. I am not sure if West Somerset is required. Just check in the timetable to see if you have Class 40 service 1Z75 starting at Manchester at 06:17. If so, you will enjoy this run. Spoiler: Run it First! You encounter adverse signals just outside Guide Bridge as the Rail Tour gets out of the way. Later, you get a red outside Dinting while opposing traffic clears the platform.
So these are runs you have done and recommend I assume. I keep doing the MML about 14:32 I think it is out of Derby to Leicester on the HST (stops about 3-4 times). I was doing it to check for stutters but now I can't help myself LOL Haven't done it for over a week now. In fact I did the non stop HST run, I think it is in scenarios. Not sure timetables has them non stop?
I tend to stay with one route for a couple of weeks at a time so that I get to know it. MML is next for me, but I’m holding out for the upcoming TPWS fixes. The spreadsheet is a community effort consisting of the runs recommended on this thread - and occasionally elsewhere. I have done most of them, but not all. One thing to note: I can’t keep up with all the layers that are required to have a run behave as described, so the best strategy is to just have all of them! My personal taste is for runs with adverse signals and lots of traffic that are challenging to drive. However, I don’t want to become an editor or a gatekeeper. If someone enjoyed a run enough to post it here and there is something that makes it unique, then I put it on the list.
So, despite having played Glossop mostly the past few days, due to the short length and repetitiveness of the services I got a bit bored eventually (although I do think it's quite a good route overall though) and ended up playing another route. Thus ironically, having played Glasgow-Edinburgh, there was a very enjoyable service with lots of adverse signals which I thought others would like here: 1R99 - 1902hrs - Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley - Class 385 (4-car) I'm still relatively new to this route having bought it recently, and while a majority of services have been nearly all simple, green-light services, this one was by far the best. This 8-car service begins at Glasgow and the first unique feature of 1R99 is it's stopping pattern (calling at just Falkirk High and Haymarket). Moreover, due to it being a fast service, you end up catching up with services ahead meaning lots of adverse signals which was a nice challenge. Finally, for those who own Rivet's steam DLC, your service arrives into Waverley next to a Jubilee railtour which is just about to depart which was lovely.
A great run! The first time I tried it, I was a bit too aggressive leaving Falkirk and wound up beating the commuter to Polmont. This made for an open run, a long wait at Haymarket, and no end of chaos at Edinburgh as the traffic piled up. I tried it again and took my time getting to and leaving Falkirk and it was excellent. I loved having the Jubilee leave right as I pulled in.
Thanks for the tip with this one, I have just played it and really enjoyed the challenge of the adverse signals
As noted elsewhere, the Spirit of Steam scenario "Time for Scouse" includes a potential derailment, but that can be avoided (search Time for Scouse) and this turns out to be one of the most interesting shunting activities I've ever seen on TSW, right down to the tricky final destination.
I tried this a second time today, and I'm pleased to report that the Niddertalbahn layer adds a 628 service that causes a few adverse signals in the second half of this run.
Interesting. I checked beforehand in the timetable and I do indeed have 1Z75 (I don’t have West Somerset, so that’s not required). However, I then drove 2G02 and didn’t get any signal checks as a result of it. Is it seasonal, maybe? I played in July.
I assume it is seasonal; the SEHS rail tours are seasonal. I did the run in May. I don’t know the exact months the 40 Rail Tours run, but now we have two data points!
1Z75 Manchester Piccadilly to Great Yarmouth runs during April/May and requires the class 47, mk2s and the class 40. So I think NTP and heavy freight DLCs? 1Z43 Crewe to York & 1Z76 Great Yarmouth to Manchester Piccadilly are also on the same layer. Hope this helps
SEHS, 5P93 Rochester to Dartford at 05:16 with the 700/0 This is a pre-dawn ECS run. Despite some built in waits, you . . . Spoiler: Spoiler Get adverse signals chasing a stopping 700 service all the way to Darford. The AI is impressive for such an early run - almost BML level. Pull in to Dartford Platform 4 as a 700 service pulls out of platform 3. Shut down, change ends, and you can take the 05:56 back to Rainham. I am not sure if it affects the AI, but I ran it in November.
It's time for some epic Class 700 awesome services for SEHS! This time I recommend not one, but three separate services which should be played all in one continuous session (for example, I did with 700/050) which will have a total duration of approximately 3hrs and 5mins and is absolutely brilliant! #1 - 5P90 - Gillingham Depot to Gillingham/9P90 - Gillingham to Dartford - 0340hrs - Class 700/0 This initial service starts at Gillingham Depot before eventually becoming the first scheduled Thameslink service of the day which only goes as far as Dartford. I recommend dynamic weather as you'll get a beautiful sunrise - and over the following three hours it must of rained at least a dozen times. As you continue to Dartford you'll not encounter hardly any other traffic, but as you continue with the following services you'll soon see both passenger and train traffic increase gradually. This service arrives into Dartford, however what's unusual is you arrive into Platform 3 as you will then return in the same direction but to Rainham. Once at Dartford, you have to change ends and it will be approximately 15 minutes before the next service (see below) begins. #2 - 9P91 - Dartford to Rainham - 0456hrs - Class 700/0 You'll now depart for Rainham and, as mentioned earlier, more AI traffic is present including a few other TL services which is great. Once at Rainham, you'll have another approximate 15-minute wait - there's now plenty of AI traffic to watch while you wait - before the next service with the same train begins (see below). #3 - 9P06 - Rainham to Luton - 0558hrs - Class 700/0 I liked this the most as the route now feels very busy. You should arrive eventually back at Dartford at around 0645hrs - and here you'll see a Class 66 freight service depart which is nice. Overall, I really enjoyed these services and, like I said, these can be completed all in one go - just one of the reasons why timetable mode in TSW is truly epic! Enjoy!
Been enjoying running the 700 and thought this one might make the list: 9P08- Rainham-Luton 06:28 Lots of adverse signals, especially between Rainham and Strood, and even had a Class 66 freight pass by.
All you running the 700 and changing cabs between services: what am I doing wrong? When I change cabs, I get a (uncancelable) Train Stop Override and can't get the brakes to release.
Not at my PC at the moment. However, let me see if I can remember how I’ve done it. Brakes to full service, DRA on, safety systems off, lights to tail lights, windows up, deregister GSMR, reverser to neutral, and key out. (It’s so cool to have that many things to do.) When you leave the cab to walk to the other end - if you choose to take the outdoor stroll, be sure and close the door you left from. Otherwise, the train will not move when you start at the other end.
OK, that one confuses me. Whenever you hit the GSMR on/off button - no matter its previous state - you get "Confirm deregistration?" And when you hit confirm, it resets to exactly how it was before. Lather, rinse, repeat. No way to actually deregister (or turn it off)
