I do think we are due for a major UK release (WCML or ECML or GEML Ipswich) and a US freight route like Marias or Donner Pass etc....
Where has this been confirmed and what's your source? You can't just go believing everything someone says is true. It's not even on the roadmap and unless dtg has a license they can't create it.
My guess for the three releases is: UK - either some part of ECML/WCML or something for the CL 700. DE - Route from a huge terminus, I would imagine Frankfurt, Berlin or Hannover to somewhere closeby. US - no idea there, probably freight-based or some commuter (Miami, California?) If they go the extension route, I would actually love to see the rework and extension of HRR, with the addition of Dortmund, Düsseldorf or possibly even Köln. Oberhausen Hbf is also very close.
Perhaps the German plan is to link one or more of the existing Ruhr routes. We have several short routes, nothing at Düsseldorf or Moenchen Gladbach all of which could be joined to facilitate a super network. Fix the save game so that taking over subsequent trains doesn’t bork and you could keep driving or riding all day.
Absolutely in agreement, I'd love to see these! For the summer, for a change I'd much rather see three very popular, high quality existing TSW routes get the TOD 4 update and a substantial timetable upgrade instead of completely new content. So many great routes already that need just that vital timetable improvement (and more loco DLC!).
To be honest for Germany I would love: 1. Freiburg-Basel 2. Mannheim-Karlsruhe 3. Frakfurt-Kassel (bit long but the section between Gießen and Treysa is awesome!) 4. Mannheim-Frankfurt 5. Offenburg/Straßburg-Karlsruhe New locos could be: ICE 4 for 1,2,4,5 Br111 for 1,3 ICE 2 for 2,4,5 ICE-T for 1,2,3,4 Apart from that they all should be set in modern days (~2020) to implement every single German loco we have so far; apart from nr.3 which is a bit of a exception for ICE apart from the ICE-T Other guesses: Maybe they will start to link routes and connect MSB with KWG and update the timetable and so on for MSB so that you can also run the ICE’s from Aschaffenburg to Würzburg, freight trains from Aschaffenburg to Würzburg,… Or they will make the TS-classic move, update DRA to Leipzig and implement the ICE-T Either way: I hope it will be a relatively modern German route in the South-West (exception is the later one though)
I agree and for the 5th one, I suggested the international segment Appenweier Strasbourg Ville railway. That one needs a French 15kv 16.7 Hz DB/ÖBB PZB trains these are B85500 BB37000 and TGV Euroduplex which you can play on LGV Marseilles Frankfurt am Main Hbf. Keep in mind Frankfurt Am Main hbf is spelt in the French Language as Francfort sur le Main Gare Centrale. German language Strasbourg Ville as Straßburg Hbf.
I think you will find Matt's comment which I was replying to was in jest. The entire Australian train sim community are well aware there are zero plans to bring a blue mountains route (historical or otherwise) to the TSW franchise at any point
The "modifications" to the Ten Tunnels deviation for the D-sets involved a change to the loading gauge regulations and some slight notching of the tunnel walls near the bottom. Hardly worth expending effort on replicating especially given the sometimes broad-strokes approach DTG has to replicating real-life features. The Zig Zag on its own is only 7km long (5 times shorter than TSW's other heritage railway, and half the length of the Island Line but with no intermediate stations) and has only just re-opened literally a month ago after being closed for more than 10 years. And again you're getting out your projection crystal ball, as the D-sets are still not yet in use almost 4 years after the first units entered the country, and not expected (at this stage) to be operational for at least another 6 months. I'm sure if DTG ever bring in a Cityrail/NSWTrains route running V-sets they'll make sure to include faulty HVAC and a trainspotter standing behind the driver. They better also include the flip-flop bench seats and the awful plum/olive green vinyl that sticks to your back on a hot summer day. Seriously, you mention this almost utterly useless anecdote almost as often as suggesting that DTG should do the Perth-Mandurah line because your aunt lives nearby.
So I figured Gloosop line is out we can get back on speculating a bit. So here are the 3 routes I'm speculating might be releasing in late summer: 1. Leipzig-Riesa-Dresden- This would be an extension of the current Dresden route which would get the TSW3 makeover. possible DLC with the German loco (Vectron) on the roadmap. updated timetable with lots of layers. 2. MIdland main line London-Bedford- introduce 700/1, layers with the 700/0,HST,66, 395, and many others as part of rail tours as a layers 3. NEC New York- Stamford- introduce M8 with many layers from LIRR,NYJ, M3A, M7A, and freight layers. These are all speculation in my part so please take with a grain of salt.
I don't know if anyone remember, but last year the last route released was the revamped Isle of Wight, and short. This year, Glossop was launched, which is also short, so if we go from there, after the launch of IOW, TSW3 was launched with long routes, so...
No the IOW was a Rivet rework of their third party content, not a DTG route. The DTG big UK release was the extended SEHS.
Have we got a source for that? In any event, until we are told otherwise I surely hope it's not the big UK summer release!
If we get the New Haven Line, I hope the devs do not cut it short to Stamford. Similarly to the TSC version, I think we should get the route east to New Haven
Yea we have to be realistic. I would love to get the entire route but given DTG's history with previous routes, LIRR DLC to Hicksville, Harlem to north White Plains, NEC NYT, NEC Boston, the Metro North, NY to Stamford DLC (33miles), with the Amtrak NEC section from Penn to New Rochele (19 miles). In total this would be a 52 mile route with the two biggest train stations in the US, Penn and Grand Central. If you include all trains/ layers from LIRR, Amtrak, Harlem, Hudson, New Haven. Freight, sunny side yard, Oak point yard, this would make this the busiest US DLC. Even bigger that NYT. It would capture the busiest corridor in the US if done correctly.
If we get either ECML/WCML, I would personally prefer them to be in historic eras with more interesting stock than an Azuma or Pendolino. ECML set in the era of the big four with the real LNER and the A4’s, including a scenario that enacts a part of Mallard’s record breaking run would be really cool! Or set in the BR Blue era with the long overdue Class 55 Deltics. As for WCML, a TSW upgrade of WCML Shap in the same era as it is in TS Classic would make me happy. Class 87 with a Large Logo Class 47, then the Class 370 APT-P following it up later as a DLC. The Class 87 would be a much more engaging gameplay experience than a Pendolino. They’ll probably be modern era segments first though, which I don’t mind but there’s so much more interesting things you could do with the mainlines than that
I know it’s not gonna happen but I would love to see some line in the north east and east. Like GEML, c2c and maybe Elizabeth line.
I am sure the Elizabeth line doesn't run to North London though. It goes from east to central to west.
Well, let's hope that, if they do another section of the NEC, it comes with a full timetable and not just for Amtrak. It needs to include relevant CSX freight and Metro North suburban services with all applicable stock rosters. Otherwise we might end up with another " NYT " disaster.
I hope for a classic 60s/70s cross border route in mainland Europe. Where you need to exchange engines and stuff...logically France-Germany. But more interesting would be France-Italy.
Or Netherlands to Germany via Bad Bentheim, in the early 1980's. Also anything involving a train ferry - Puttgarden to Rodby or Helsingborg to Helsingor. Used to love travelling on trains that used those. Branch out so we can also drive the ships!
Newport to Hereford would be great in terms of length and layering in much of the existing UK collection, depending on era.
That and possibly extend it to Cardiff. Would make for a decent run of around 50-60 miles which should be manageable.
How about the actual route between Amsterdam and the Ruhrgebiet Hollandstrecke Duisburg/Bochum Oberhausen Arnhem Utrecht Centraal. If you have the Woodhead route just simply drop the class 77 NS 1500 inside Emmerich am Rhein and then have DB Baureihe 103 110.3 take it over from there to Duisburg Hbf. Speaking of Eisenbahnfahre Puttgarden Rødby the German side needs a dedicated shunter in the form of 290/363/365
I still want my driveable train ferry! Now I'm sure you can probably list the names of all the ships on the Puttgarden to Rodby run...
