So I'm doing a scenario on CRR, and it's a hill start which is hard as it's a big train, but once i get going i just cant get the train to go past 2mph. I know im probably doing something wrong I've re-ran the training mission to re-familiarize myself with the loco but nope still 2 mph. So any help or advice would be fantastic.
Oooh I remember a hillstart in blizzard - the thread back then was great, someone sit there for two hours sanding and crawling up the hill. Some other rolled back the gradiend and started from there, flat.
lf the train has rear helpers then it will be one of the services that cannot be completed easily because of the omission of banking comm in the locos when the route was made (still not added which is a travesty from DTG). If it is the one that hasn’t got helpers but is set in the snow then 2 mph is probably the best you can achieve until you reach the top of the steep section of the hill. Use the forum search with the service/scenario name to find threads on the issues and possible workarounds.
Yeah it has no rear engines at al just a 3 engine lead up front and thanks just going to search the forum now
Yes, DTG promised that the banking com omission would be fixed when its accidental absence was discovered after launch. That promise was broken and there's no sign that it will be honored in the future. It, among some other issues, has damaged the route and probably contributes to its reportedly poor sales. If you can somehow avoid the affected services, there's a lot to be enjoyed with CRR, including the best scenario in the game.
Matt is planning to add in banking comm as part of his passion project but don't expect it soon since it's done in his free time
It's one of this i wish i knew coding to help with the fixes i see so many bugs being reported every day from the sublime to the ridiculous
Maybe. We'll see. It will be at least 3 years late if it ever comes. I don't doubt Matt's intentions but I'm not holding my breath. DTG does not have a good record with fixing things and they should not be relying on pet projects done in an employee's spare time.
if you use ctrl + or ctrl - whatever works to switch to the helpers and just manually turn those on and then set the power to 2 or 3 and off course release the brakes there too just follow the normal process for lead loc and 2nd loc you can go faster afterwards so your not stuck at 2mph for a long time better explanation should be on this forum somewhere a fix is sure needed for that route anyway
People have been amazingly creative to finish this scenario. See below -----> Crr Snowy Hillstart Clinchfield Journey Help I've done it twice with different "magic": First attempt crawling at ~1mph for 80 minutes until reaching the tunnel and second attempt rolling back to get to flatter terrain. Which won't speed you up much, but helps. Whether this is true to real life is another discussion. And I don't see how a working banking comm could help here since - IIRC! - there're only three locos coupled in front of that train.
