It's 1961, and steam is slowly being edged out on the UK network. Here at Carlisle, we see (from left to right) a 6MT Clan with the down Royal Scot, a Class 37 is waiting to take over a London-bound train from Stranraer over the Western Lines of Scotland from another 6MT, and a Black 5 is sitting awaiting clearance for a run over the Settle-Carlisle line to Leeds.

The climb to Lands Viaduct over the River Gaunless is, topping out at 1:28, probably the hardest section of the Weardale & Teesdale network of lines, but this K1 has more than enough power to crest the grade - the driver's next challenge will be keeping the train from running away down the equally steep gradient to Barnard Castle and later Penrith.

    Per the rules -
I know a GP9 can produce a lot of exhaust, but it doesn't quite qualify for the theme "Steam Era". Also, each screenshot would need to be its own post with the route and locomotive name.

A Union Pacific challenger, one of the most successful modern steam locomotives of all time, thunders toward Speer Junction on the Sherman Hill route at sunset. These Challengers were of the last steam power on the Union Pacific, the last being retired in 1959.

I know that Buynot's awesome FEF-3 screenshot is still on the loading screen but I wanted to share mine as well. This was my first successful run of the FEF-3 on Sherman Hill after many, many tries. It was awesome!
