They only run on third rail in the tunnel in real life. I believe the acceleration is better in Diesel mode.

The P32AC-DM is a dual mode locomotive manufactured by GE. They use 3rd rail while in Grand Central, then switch to Diesel once out of the tunnel....

Only issue that still isn't right, is that the trailing DPU does not have it's headlight on dim.
