I had a similar problem on Koln Aachen... when setting destination, you just gotta figure out correctly which platform is for intercity/longer...
I wish I knew how to set up those long multiloco US freight trains... but then, I was able to create true EU monsters with 2 Tauruses or 2x 16car...
