Crewe worked fine on Spirit of Steam which had a lot more complicated track layouts.
Another idea - Tonbridge to Strood on Medway, Strood to St Pancras on SEHS, very short walk to Euston and then WCMLs up to Carlisle.

The 70 is in the layers list already for Crewe to Birmingham so will presumably utilise the existing timetable. Not sure about other routes though.
