As far as my experience goes i believe you're only going to get a maximum of 20mph. I guess that's why they upgraded to diesel trains.
I find the lighting to be at a good level, apart from in the lime street tunnels of course.
The rods started to blur into some kind if locomotive related mass, i think it would take more lubricant than you could put on it to keep that moving.
