If you switch off DHCP, you need to know how to manually configure the network settings. It's not as simple as you make it out to be.
I don't think it's possible to earn LGV achievements without owning the route. If you did, it's a bug.
Best avoid starting from the Train Depot. If you start with Choose a route, then there should be no confusion.
