My son, Leo, is a big fan of Train Sim World. He wishes that American steam engines would be in the game. Here is his letter to you (as well as attached): Dear Dovetail Games, I want you to release a route it's American route called Cheyenne WY to Ogden UT. I can't spell good yet sincerely your biggest fan Leo. I'm eleven years old make sure it comes with Union Pacific 4014 big boy 3985 challenger and number 844.
We have UP Sherman Hill: Cheyenne-Laramie, WY in game, but it needs major updates to get it up to modern TSW standards, including the Harriman Line (3rd track over the hill). The UP Steam Program is a must-have, especially with #4014 Big Boy running across country to celebrate the US 250th Anniversary. Challenger #3985 is now being restored to operational status at the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America Museum in Silvis, Ill. Hopefully we could get #3985 in the future when her restoration is complete, along with UP #5511, a 2-10-2 "Santa Fe" Class, and UP DDA40X #6936 that are also at the museum. As for #844, the big 4-8-4 FEF-3 is needed in game too. Hopefully we could get the UP Steam Program in the future. A UP Overland Route: Ogden, UT-Green River, WY route could be amazing to see in game, but that section is over 170 miles long, so it would have to be made in 2 or 3 sections.
DTG struggled to simulate the relatively simple physics of UK steam locos, so they would probably struggle with something as complex as the Big Boy. And they have shown no inclination to go back on their decision not to develop steam further for TSW - the only developer currently doing so is TSG with the German BR23. And I know from driving (or attempting to!) the Smokebox Big Boy in Train Sim Classic, it’s a horrendously complex machine to get to grips with.
