Why are you spending time and effort to put together the same content you have already presented into a shiny new box and mislead everyone with a fancy title?

Such efforts would be far better spent if you went through and did maintenance on what you have already produced. Update older content to current standards. Review comments from customers who have found faults with the products and fix those faults.

By pausing to improve what you have established shows self-respect to ensure your name is well thought of and repays the faith that loyal customers have given you.

A house built upon sand can only stand for a short time...

This argument would have meant more of it wasn't the same one that's been made since 2009.

I personally think this is the first official "nail in the coffin" for the TS1. Rebranding it to be "TS Classic" is essentially classifying it as the legacy Train Simulator. I don't think content will stop coming out any time soon, but you likely won't see any more annual rebranding like they've been doing.

    Just my two cents.

The TS “coffin” will last me out. There are still routes being developed for, what is in effect, MSTS. The Community has kept MSTS alive and it will do so, with TS(whatever as long as it is notW). As for annual rebranding ending, thank goodness for that.

I don't think it's the last version, I think it was more to do with moving it away from a similar date to TSW :) so less of a clash between them, I can't really comment on TSW vs TS1 however. As for routes - one route just finished (Dresden), another route quite far into development (don't ask or pm me about it, you'll get the same answer :) - no!), and then another route after that which has started track laying, and at least 2 more after that. *

    * = I can't say what where or when on any of those (I probably shouldn't have said as much as I did above - but equally I didn't say what they were, so nothing really broken there :) )

It makes sense, TSC is outdated game that was released back in 2007. Despite having multiple core updates, it needed a successor, aka TSW.

The annual name update led to much confusion for new players as it suggested it to be a new game - which it is not. I'm fine with TSC.

If you saw the announcement on Steam Forums, you would see that even older players got confused about it.

    Mine did at 18:03 GMT

    Btw:
For the actual Classic to show in your Steam library exit Steam and then relaunch it otherwise it'll still say TS2022, but it does launch as TS Classic either way.

The forum rename is a good fit by the way, just... feels right.

    Edit:
Still need to change the forum logo though as that's still TS2022.
