I do seem to be one of the few recommending it I quite enjoy the route. It feels much busier than Boston Sprinter and you can stretch the Acelas' legs for a bit. Performance is bad in NY Penn, but that's true for most routes at this point. I don't think you can do much wrong at 80% off.
I don't know what Sony are doing with PlayStation Stars, but I'm in the UK and can see £5 and £10 wallet rewards, but a friend of mine also from the UK no longer sees any wallet rewards. For those struggling with error messages when redeeming multiple rewards, I find it best to claim one, then close and reopen the app before claiming another, avoids all the errors.
That’s what I did for the 5 quid one, I had an error when I redeemed another one but yeah both 10 and 25 quids vanished…
There was quite a bit on sale, TSW and TSC. Anything 50% or more off is a big sale in my book. I'm not expecting 80% sales to be common.
I was going to say before foggy commented that we still have the £10 card in the UK. Strange how it's not available in the French (I'm guessing) ps store
No vouchers higher than 5 chf in the Swiss store either. I did wonder if the available rewards depend on the level you’ve achieved. Never going to find out as I don’t play for trophies and I need a lot to get to the next level.
I only play about 3-4 hours a week, occasionally more. Less recently with TSW5 crashes. I still have TSW4 installed which at the moment is ok. Apart from TSW, any games I buy are usually from cex or similar.
Just purchased CCL and 380, still nothing - this is really odd. Anyone in the UK earning points correctly please?
I believe you only get points for PS Store purchases if you’re an active PS Plus member. Never had any problems with it. The PS Stars membership level doesn’t seem to affect the available rewards. I’ve seen lots of Reddit posts on the topic, and the consensus seems to be that the available wallet fund redeem options are mostly random for each user.
I’m not sure if I’d recommend those just for the AI railtours. From my experience, you really don’t encounter these trains all that often, and they’re also not being utilized as static stock as much as I’d like. By the way - Spirit of Steam adds a lot more railtour layers than Peak Forest, but the latter is needed for the West Somerset Railway steam gala timetable layer due to its increased rolling stock offering.
Bother! That'll be why. They said it was free to join in the sign up flow and didn't mention PS Plus. Thanks for letting me know
Maybe Sony just wants people to get the Playstation store app. I thought there was a reward system for stars.
Heads up that the Germany pack for tsw4 is also 50% off on ps4/5, a pretty good deal if you're missing that content.
It's not trophies necessarily, it's stuff like playing certain games or purchasing games/dlc from the ps store that levels it up
It is for me. I can’t get to level 3 until I’ve done 32 rare and above trophies. I doubt I will ever achieve that as I mainly play just 3 games.
Blackpool was an instant purchase. It's very nice, but not blowing me away gameplay wise. Early days though. However, I am enjoying NY Trenton alot, even though US passenger is possibly my least favorite activity in the game. I watched its livesteam on release and it left me cold, followed by an avalanche of criticism I was never buying this. I don't know what happened but It's fun(especially for 6 quid).
I did pretty well. Picked up MBTA, which I'd been really wanting to buy because I'm a native of that area, LIRR Commuter and Blackpool. I'm not a fan of buying just locos even on sale, but I might get a couple of them before the sale ends anyway since I got some PS gift cards for Christmas.
Sounds like it's not a "DTG" issue so much as a platform issue. Steam is just a better access point for TSW than the consoles. But again, it's not DTG's fault. It's just how SONY and Microsoft run things.
What surprised you positively about NYT? I’m kind of in the same boat… have a rather negative view of the route after the launch and (allegedly) botched timetable update.
I have no knowledge of the route in real life. To those who do their unhappiness is probably justified. All I can say is I'm enjoying safety systems, variety of engines/cabs(including Acela) and the update to scenery since 2020. I don't expect this love affair will last forever, but I'm happy at this price. That's the bottom line for any route for me, although I would've been ok spending a bit more here.
