There's no section of the MML where the Voyagers and 360s share track.

True but I believe it was only fairly recently that dtg said they were unable to get an XC license which is a real shame.

I'd love to be proven wrong on this one though, having XC in tsw would open up plenty of route and layering possibilities.

If it’s anything it’s probably gonna be Crewe to Holyhead which would work with an avanti voyager and possibly a TFW 158/150?

    I'll take it.

I presume the Voyager would be the new loco and the 158 from MML being reused and substitution with the WCL 150.

North Wales Main Line would be a very good route to have in TSW, though we'd probably only get half of it. Do we know if DTG have a license for Transport for Wales though?

They have it for TSC. It's government owned, so not really a reason they wouldn't let them use it.

You've hit the nail on the head. The new route is half of HS2.
    Rishi would approve of that.
Plus you have the bonus of being allowed to start and end it anywhere other than where it was supposed to go ;)

Rivet just reposted a video of a Class 380 on the Barrhead - Glasgow Central line on X/Twitter. They usually don’t share this type of content, so I can’t help but think it might be a little teaser for their upcoming UK route.

Glasgow and SouthWestern railway I believe. It's the long way from Glasgow to Carlisle and a nice section of line actually.

Yup! Goes from Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock and then continues onto Dumfries and then Carlisle. It's actually my local line.

It's uses class 156's on all services apart the newest addition of the class 380's running a shuttle to and from the newly electrified section to Barrhead from Glasgow Central.

Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock sounds plausible, but not the most interesting line in terms of landmarks and timetable. It would essentially be a longer, more rural version of Cathcart Circle but with diesel trains. Something like the Inverclyde lines would spark my interest more.

Last time I did the GSW it was a Class 27 and four steam heat Mark Ones. That was the 0615 from Carlisle to Glasgow (via Dumfries) and believe me after the Bristol to Glasgow overnight (1S19 IIRC) dumped me at a freezing cold Carlisle @ 0400 in the morning, that ECS running in just after 0600 was a very welcome sight.

However I have done the line in the daylight, travelling south from Glasgow Central on the first Euston service of the day, that ran via the GSW and it is a lovely run. Probably slightly more scenic than Beattock IMHO.

It's a nice Scottish countryside route with a lovely DMU. It's my local line so I'd always be an advocate for it. It's much better and longer than cathcart circle. Trust me. And there is a really lovely station at Kilmarnock. The design is really quite nice.

That sounds a world better than the 156 we got when we last used the line!

When was the last time you went on the line? The 156's got a refurb some time ago with fresh carpets and clean seats with the scotrail moquette in the luggage racks and some much needed underfloor heating.

The only downer was compartment stock. Great up to Kilmarnock but there the commuters got on so was armrests up and 4 a side. Always preferred Mark One TSO's.

Though still better than 1S19 as by then all the overnight train seated portions had gone over to Mk2 A/B/C so not a chance of any sleep under those undimmable fluorescent lights!

Last year. In fairness the train wasn't dirty or owt, but it takes a fair bit to beat a 27 as I do think they are lovely machines.
The compartments were always great when we travelled as a family (8 of us including our mum and dad) as we got the compartment to ourselves, but having to share one with commuters were never a nice experience!

GSW set in the era of 27s and Mk1s…now we’re talking!

Sadly, for me it was already 156s by the time I was watching trains at Carlisle in the 90s. I remember some of them were painted in Strathclyde orange and black, which suited them very well. The 156s must have been the mainstay of that route for over 30 years. They’re well suited to it to be fair, now that it’s no longer a mainline.

I think this trip was in 1985 or thereabouts, about a year before girlfriend then marriage put paid to all those crazy overnight bashing moves.

To be fair, after doing some more research into it, the route actually looks quite appealing. Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock is an achievable distance (24 miles), the timetable would have some variety with at least 2tph to Kilmarnock (up to 50 minutes travel time) and 1tph to Barrhead (30 minutes), and the potential option for the East Kilbride branch (+8 miles) at 2tph (30 minutes). Mixed scenery from urban, suburban to rural with some single track segments further south. Only been on this route once IRL, didn't think much of it at the time (the southern section to Carlisle was more scenically appealing) but in terms of TSW representation, it fits the bill quite nicely. :)

I’ll be very happy for you Nathan if it actually turns out Rivet are working on the Ayrshire Line. With a Class 380 being possibly hinted at it does seem possible.

I know how much you want that route in TSW.

It's literally a childhood dream of mine to have this line in a train sim. I've been wanting it on tsw since I started playing tsw. I'd LOVE for it to be made but if rivet are making it....
    They better not botch it.
Watch out jasper. I'm on your forums. I'm also local to this line. I will take the time to point out every bug and inaccuracy if I need to...

But yea. It would be amazing to see! :)

It's a cracking run. Been over many times, last was on a tour with a pair of 37s coming back from Gourock. Most memorable was wire's down at Lockerbie and Virgin had diverted a few services. 37520 backed on to the last one at Carlisle and the 87s pan dropped. Cracking run on a full length mk3 set and dead loco. None of this pairs stuff one 37 used to get the job done.

I’m really pleased about this. Could be a good urban scenic route, nice short run time up and down the line meaning I’ll have more time to play plus pleased to see an Aventura. I know not the most exciting modern trains but I travel on them every week and they are a smart train.
Also pleased to see a chunk of the London, Tilbury and Southend. Even if it just one station. (Only 27 stations to go :) )

I wonder whether there could be scope for AI 720s on the GEML and c2c or could they be down the line fingers crossed.
    Also potential District Line AI?

Cross Country is owned by Arriva Trains UK
London Overground is operated by Arriva Rail London
Part of the London Overground is coming to tsw
Arriva Rail London is owned by Arriva Trains UK.

Might be wishful thinking, but I wonder if this makes a XC license more likely? Although it could be that DTG can do LO because of TFL saying so rather than ARL.

They are brands of Arriva. They probably only have the license to a specific brand.

And just like that, the route has been revealed. Gospel Road to Barking operated by London Overground. Not so particularly impressed about the reveal but it is what it is really. But, that doesn't mean there is no hope. Another UK route is being revealed next February, so that is the new thing to look forward to!

Even if they're part of the same larger company different TOCs can still have completely different licensing policies.

That'll be rivets thing I think. Because it's rivet though we should have plenty of teasers before it's revealed.

I amongst others am pleased to be getting a class 104 as long as they don't recycle the old 101 sounds!
Which incidentally ran on said line above.

That'd be an amazing route for me.. I'm a local to that route, living in Llandudno Junction. Not much freight from Chester onwards to HHD though, just one to Llandudno Junction and another to Penmaenmawr Quarry. But still, that would be a day one purchase for me; finally having my local in the game!
Not getting my hopes up though... :/

Could also include ROG 37 layering sadly no tight lock so it would have to be light locos

Yeah, ROG don't often come up here but it'd be nice to see a light loco move as that was something I always thought was missing, especially from MML - light loco moves. I did see 37901 up here a little while back though, the only reason ROG send 37s up here (as far as I know) is on route learners. But still, could definitely be added as a few services! Having the route would also give a good reason to have some new freight locos/new 66 liveries, as the only trains that come here for freight are; GBRf 66s GBRf 60s (formerly to Penmaenmawr) Colas 70s (presently to Penmaenmawr) and if you're lucky the odd Colas 56 - sometimes a double header - instead of a 70.. that's why I have my doubts about the route happening.. too many new locos!

I do believe they use some of the route to get to Newport too but yeah it would be good to see the ROG 37 have more use

Ah right, more reason to give it more services then! That's something I always think all UK routes could do with; a few route learners in 66s or 37s depending on the circumstances (66s would be more for freight training and 37s could technically be for freight and/or passenger I guess..)

Stick it back to the 90s and you have 37s running down the coast on passenger trains

Yeah! Regional Railways era please, especially if 37s are involved!! ;)
To be honest, I would quite like to see a modern day NWCL, as it'd be one of the few modern routes that isn't all EMU!

Are they definitely not creating another English route? How many upcoming UK routes will they have for the February Roadmap. I would always appreciate your feedback and response
