They seem unsure of what to do next. Time to send thoughts of a proper Class 57 EP with reskins that are no longer usable without the sound pack.
I would love to see a 57 pack, although AP would need to figure out a way of making the altered front end in a way that looks good. The current /3 and /6 reskins have a protruding pug-like nose which isn't close to what the real trains look like.
I would like to see a new or much enhanced class 101, plus other DMU's if possible also some more southern region slam door stock. Otherwise now we are getting a new class 47 and have a excellent 37 and 40, a new 25, 26, 27, 31, 33, 45, 56 etc wouldn't go amiss!
Where is this 40? The only one I know to be available ATM is from Just Trains. I have the AP one, of course, but the JT one is the one for sale. I think it was Digital Traction's and I know "bonus" content is added. IHH one is gone but I did get the DCSV files to research conversion options for scenarios.
AP made a brilliant Class 40 which is among the best trains in TS, but withdrew it a few years ago. The reason given was issues with the 64-bit version of TS, although most of the glitches I know of were fixed and at the time of its withdrawal there were no issues with the Class 40 when used in the 64-bit version.
Ah, I thought you had hints of a new one being developed. I figure you meant the AP Class 37 in the earlier quote, as well.
Sorry I meant the Railright/AP one, I complete forgot it had been withdrawn. I can't understand why it was withdrawn as it was of high quality. I hope the reason some of AP's sound packs have gone is because they might be replaced by new models or enhancement packs.
There are a couple of enhanced class 101 packs available from goldengoldsmithstudios.co.uk https://www.goldengoldsmithstudios.co.uk
I wish AP would just release the withdrawn packs (the ones they don't want to/dont have time, to provide support for) as unsupported freeware.
Thanks for the hat. I clearly have missed a lot over th last year or so. I do have the AP sound pack. Unfortunately many new comers won't. I can't see what reason there would be for removing these sound packs from sale as I'm sure they would still sell.
I believe that is the reason they gave. Why they had to withdraw the sound packs years before they'd get replacements I don't know.
Indeed, I have most of them. One I wish I'd purchased was the Deltic one as I find the DTG fairly unpleasant. It seems years since the class 421 pack was withdrawn.
I don't remember the 421 SP being that good. It was better than the DTG sounds but it was rough in areas and didn't age well.
Yes true I do recall the track joint sounds being pretty inaudible in the cab. It was as you say an improvement on the DTG one which was probably a low bar to set.
I remember the horn was poorly mixed. It had no fading so it was not dissimilar to someone screaming down the telephone.
Yes that rings a bell. AP implied in their newsletter that they were going to release more this year. It will be interesting to see what this year brings.
The 101 enhancement packs were updated last October to work for those without the AP sound pack. The requirements are that the AP sound pack is recommended, not essential. I do have the AP sound pack so I can't comment on what the packs are like without it, but they will work. Hope this helps.
From what I recall the original DMU sounds weren't awful, the AP pack was an improvement. I remember the original RSC class 101 which sounded like a vacuum cleaner at higher speed. The subsequent releases were better.
