I have finished additional annotations for Ruhr Sieg Nord (Hagen-Finnentrop) and Rhein Ruhr Osten (Wuppertal-Hagen). Guess from my profile photo which of these cities is my hometown ;-) Here's the download
I didn't think of that lol Maybe we can have a filter system like we do in the weather finder where it filters the seasons by months (Winter, Spring, Summer and fall)
Hi,sometimes when i use the overlay&weather, TSW flickers, and i get multiple locations pop up at stations. any ideas why,and how to fix ? Winzarten
Winzarten I'm just doing some annotations on the Preston and Carlisle route. And I spotted a small spelling error: The river at Lancaster is not called Line but Lune. <nitpicking mode off> ;-)
No idea why that happens. Is the sim running in borderless windowed mode? Do you use lossless scaling by a chance? Does this happen with any specific point, or radomly? Thanks, I will fix it. If you find any other typos, please let me know I expect there are a lot of them :-D
windowed,i do use Losless scaling, but i did try with it not enabled&open, still had same issue. It occurs randomly Winzarten
Winzarten I'm Doing the Leipzig - Dresden route I have a suggestion. The Dornreichenbach and Bornitz Station has (Disused) but I think Unused would be a better fit what do you think?
Next time it occurs, please upload the log file..Down in the settings is the button to save it. To be honest, I have no idea why that might be happening I went with dictionary with this one, and according to that disused is something that was used, but is no longer used.. why I think is the case for those stations. But I'm not a native speaker, so if some native speakers will chime in and say that unused might be better, I can change that. And, a small update was just pushed. I've added PoI types - SignalBox and Maintanance depot. I'm still not 100% happy with the icons, but that is something that can be changed later. I've added annotations for the newly released Frankenbahn, and the old classic Tees Valley Line. And, I've added the 'wetness' as a selectable information on the weather overlays. This is the value of the ingame wetness slider, which directly affects stuff like traction. And, I've also found why, sometimes, jumping around the route doesn't update weather properly. If you were previously driving a train, the app will still use that train location (the app has no way of knowing you are no longer associated with that train), so it will not detect the jump. It is actually quite funny, as you'll get annotations for that train, as the AI then drives it down the line :-D The simple workaround is to set the location source to camera
Cheers for adding the two new POIs - great. I think disused is the correct word to used for closed stations and such.
Disused is definitely the correct word - see, for example, Transport for London's page on disused Underground stations.
Little cross-app-promo... I've created a new app which I think people might like, as it allows you to have multiple save-game slots https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/app-tsw-save-game-manager-multiple-save-slots.95802/
And again Windows 11 prevented me from updating within the app ! Nothing helped, not loading the app as admin, or giving the app full permissions. So finally I found the link to the last update on the Githup page under "Releases". That worked fortunately. I'm posting this just in cause that someone has a similar problem.
I asked Claude AI for solutions, here's what it came up with: (Hope this helps) Unblock the Updater File Right-click the app's executable or updater file, select Properties, go to the General tab, and check the "Unblock" checkbox at the bottom under Security Medium. This tells Windows to trust that specific file. Add Exception to Windows Defender Add the app to Windows Defender exclusions by going to Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Manage settings > Exclusions Fortect, then add the app's folder or executable as an exclusion. Why Windows 11 Blocks the In-App Updater: The most likely culprits preventing the in-app auto-updater from working are: Windows SmartScreen / Smart App Control Go to Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control Set to Off or Warn instead of Block Also check Reputation-based protection settings and disable "Check apps and files" temporarily during updates Windows Defender Blocking the Updater Executable Add an exclusion for the TSW Route Annotations folder Go to Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings → Exclusions Add the installation folder (likely in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)) File/Process Being Blocked Right-click the updater executable (or main .exe file) Go to Properties → General tab Check if there's an "Unblock" checkbox at the bottom under Security Check it and click Apply Potentially Unwanted App (PUA) Blocking Go to Windows Security → App & browser control → Reputation-based protection settings Turn off "Potentially unwanted app blocking"
I’ve been using the Weather side of the app for a while (absolute game changer and many thanks) and have just started fiddling with the annotations using ECW as a base. I have a question- Is it possible to set your own value for bridge/tunnel length rather than have the game calculate it from (I assume) the coordinates? Picky but I’d prefer to see the accepted real world length in game? Ta
Not currently, but it is something I would like to do. And a new version was pushed. Random Year (Era) - I've added another possibility how random year is selected. This mode will select a random year that is around the current in-game year (so if the timetable is set in 1980, and the range is 6, you get years from 1977 to 1983). This way you get randomness, but stay within the era. Which might be handy, now, in winter, as winters 30+ years ago saw more snow Visbility Calculations - I've added a simple visbility calculation, for when it is not available in the historic data. It is based on humidity, temperature and wind speed. It will ofc not match the real weather, but it should, generally, be believable for the general weather state (humid, just above freezing, weather with calm winds -> low visibility). This I feel will make the older data more useful. I've added annotations for the two steam routes - Liverpool - Crew and Peak Forest Railway.
Great mod. Just a suggestion for colors icon of program in order to have icon more visible with Windows dark mode
Took forever but Annotations from Leipzig Dresden is done and uploaded. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...i7132-bahnstrecke-leipzig-dresden-annotations
I was very glad that this version, unlike the last one was updated without problems, although I haven't changed anything in my configuration since I tried the last one. Weird...
And I also have a set of additional annotations, this time for the WCML Preston - Carlisle. As usual available at trainsimcommunity.com
Just in case someone has missed it: Spirit of Steam: Liverpool Lime Street - Crewe on Steam is currently available for FREE ! (until 5th January)
Well after I was able to install the MSI file manually in the last version, this time neither the in-file update nor the manual installation of the MSI file worked. Finally it turned out it the problem was Smart App Control! Now that's NOT smart at all, if I want to activate App Control again, I have to reinstall Windows ? Are they kidding ?? Such a function should have switch to turn it on again if needed, or at least the possibility to exclude certain files from this function like in defender. At least, the auto update in the annotations app is working again now. THANKS Rudy for your help!!
Hey Winzarten I think I've encountered a bug. When I change the weather overlay information and click apply nothing happens. An example is if I uncheck elevation and click apply, elevation still shows on the overlay even though it's unchecked
Little question from me: each time there's an update it wants to install the application to C:\Program Files (whereas I've installed it to G:\Games) and so I have to modify the file path every single time. I think I may have accidentally installed it to Program Files the first time I installed it and it might have kept that as its default file path, but I'm not sure. Maybe the installer just hasn't been designed for a non-default file path. Is there a registry value or file I can modify to make it install updates to the same location it's currently installed in? I couldn't find an entry for the file path in the registry editor, although I may have missed it? Cheers, JB
I've restarted the app countless time immediately after saving the changes and even when I load it to play on a different day the changes are not made
Please check on this post, https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/app-tsw-route-annotations.93055/page-11#post-1073771 and make sure, you're changing the correct overlay. As there are now two separate settings - one of for the weather information that is shown when annotated locations are shown, and a separate settings for the permanent overlay.
Exactly the same for me, always defaults to c:\progra files…. even though I’ve installed it on my D: drive from the very first use.
No worries, you're not the first one who missed that. I will try to make it more clear that those settings are only for the location annotations. I will have a look, but no promises... I have very little experience with doing installers, so I need to do some research on how to change the default location if the app is already installed.
Berninalinie Annotations uploaded on train sim community https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c109-other/i7174-berninalinie-annotations
I think I figured it out, and today's update should already have the current install folder pre-selected.
One final update this year... I've added the option to select any real-world location as the source for the weather data. Switching the location to custom allows you to enter custom lat/lon pair, which will then be used as the location for weather data. Or you can use the two search buttons and search the location, by name, in the annotated data, or real world locations. If Track Movement option is enabled, then the application will trace how far you moved from your initial location and apply the same offset to the entered coordinates... So if you select 'Paris' as your location, and then move 100km north, you'll get weather from 100km north of Paris. This way you still get weather changes, that come from you moving to another place, not just from time passing. This can be ofc combined with both Live and Historic weather modes. So, any weather, that happened anywhere on the earth, in the last 60years, can now be experienced in TSW Enjoy, and happy new year ;-)
