I’d be happy enough with a 380, if they actually went back and layered it into the other routes, could mean the Scottish routes are actually pretty busy, but they rarely do these days so a bit meh unless it’s a new route as well.
The 380 would also have Substitutions onto Edinburgh-Glasgow for the 385, so it wouldn't be limited to just cathcart
You and me both.. the 380s are alright but if (like you said) it ends up being this new loco add-on I personally would be beyond disappointed - we have way too many modern EMUs, we need more DMUs/diesel locos and older EMUs/electric locos in my opinion.
Was there a stage when the 380s and 385s mingled on Glasgow and Edinburgh services? As a standalone "Loco" if it layered as AI on to Fife Circle and as a layer with existing units on the other two, I approve. I like it when existing routes come to life and feel realistic with more traction, the 700 layer for BML maybe be stuttery at the London end but it's made a huge difference to the feel of the route. I just wished it was Network South East AC traction and routes that were getting all the attention, but that's just me being selfish.
Considering DTG hate layering stock onto older routes we should give up any hope of the 380 layering onto Edinburgh-Glasgow and Fife Circle.
Of all the useful UK rolling stock we need, which realistically needs a standalone loco pack (which are far too rare), it would be incredibly disappointing if this one is a 380. Unfortunately after Matt’s previous desiro teaser & now this, I fear it’s a reality. We get EMUs with almost every UK route pack, the loco DLCs don’t need to be EMU focused too…
Neither Edinburgh - Glasgow nor Fife Circle are DTG routes. Personally, if a loco DLC for Cathcart Circle means a TOD4 upgrade and timetable update, I'm all for it.
Doesn't matter who made it, layers of new stock onto older routes almost never happens. While I'd love to see it, especially on Edinburgh-Glasgow and Fife Circle, I'd be amazed if it does. However that being said, if it is for Cathcart Circle I'm happy to see that route get some attention and hopefully we have layers added onto that.
Do we know to which route a possible BR 120 loco DLC would be paired to? No. Just because the screenshot shows SRM doesn't confirm it. The BR 120 can be layered onto every route the BR 101 also runs. And the last BR 120 was retired by DB Fernverkehr in 2023. We have no german route that is that recent so you could use it on every route that features IC services.
If DTG then finally upgrades it to TOD4 then it would be perfect, but on Köln-Aachen, there are not really IC services I think...
It does matter, as those who made the route would be the ones who'd need to update the timetable to include the new train. Not that I'm confident that Rivet would do that... I don't think they'd be promoting Joe's timetable passion project if they were making their own updates to the route either.
The 465 was a DLC n TSW2 then included with the route in TSW3. The 700 was a loco DLC for SEHS. Neither came from another route so weren't layered on, they were designed for it.
Yes, it is one of the more 'interesting' modern EMUs but wouldn't slot in well to things we already have. You are right there and I wished I had done that as the internet is plastered with all this stuff. I don't mind April fools but I can't stand the internet on April fools day!
I've looked through the timetables for the BR 120 between 2018 and 2020 (which were the last years they were appointed to IC services and not only used as backup) and the most services seemed to be between Karlsruhe, Nürnberg and München. I must repeat that the BR 120 is neither confirmed by any leak or by the lack of any other suitable options for a loco for the IC cab car, it's just one likely option. Now from that the only fitting route would be HMA (and yes routes set further in the past would also fit). As seen in the newest trailer for TSW, you could see a BR 440, which would only fit on HMA or MSB and TSG BR 420 is also for HMA, we might get an update for HMA? With now one confirmed, one probable and one rumored locos for that route it becomes more and more likley for DTG to deliver a update/remaster, similar to what they did with SEHS.
München-Augsburg definitly needs a remaster/update, it has so good gameplay possibilities (ICE, Shunting at Munich, S-Bahn, Freight,...) A Cab Car/IC/BR 120 DLC would fit very good in it!
Can’t wait for the 380… lovely looking unit; hoping that with all the new and upcoming Scotrail content, DTG take some time to layer it into Glasgow Central and Ruvet do the same with Waverley on Edi-Gla
Honestly the update for Br 101 should be what it is. It shouldn't have been left out in the first place. But since it's DTG we're talking about, I think it will have Br 101 as part of its own DLC- They have released locos multiple times before, so I don't think this is impossible.
I would actually have preferred a 303 or, at worst, a 320 as the ones on the TSC North Clyde route actually sounded pretty good, traditional AC EMU electrothrash. Will have to fire up the 380 in TSC on that weird semi fictional route out to Glasgow Airport to refresh my opinion of it as an entertaining train. The other issue with the 380 is that it's another EMU with a cramped letterbox view from the cab. Ergo, a Class 320 (or 303) would have been perfect to complement the existing 314.
completely agree, they wouldn’t want to lose on the profit by making the control car free to 101 owners, not only is it probable the 101 comes free with the control car, it seems more there go to that it’s a bonus for newer buyers than previous buyers. —————————————————— Edit: Unfortunately for me my hold on buying more content until my current ones stop driving me up the wall, applies just as equally to loco’s I want to pick up and not just ones I would consider picking up, so it will be a pass on them both (380/control car) from me.
Couldn't agree more with you there. We've got loads of modern EMUs and barely any modern diesel locos/MUs... You've got the same view on loco packs as I do too!
SEHS was built from the start with a layer provided for the 465 services (covered by 375s in the original release). The 700s were anticipated in the TSW3 route rebuild.
That was a test locomotive operated by DB Systemtechnik. They hadn't been in revenue service for some time before that.
And while I know the cab car is wanted by some of the German players, to me driving from them is dull as ditchwater, no traction sound and in the case of the 766's barely any track sound. Pass for me too.
But we are lacking the ones from Germany. I mean... the double deck ones! Like the Twindexx, Siemens Desiro, and Stadler Kiss.
Except for the KISS all of these trains just entered service in the last five years. We currently have no route set in that time periode, so Dostos and Traxx it is.
Well there is a route that could have such a train, but is not served by DB. It is RRX - Rhein Ruhr Express, which have service between Aachen and Koln. It is not full double deck as both head and end cars have cabs and are sinlge deck. Hopes this company will be added to TSW, getting their license! Even RRX it also has other routes too. Train paint scheme is original and nice in my opinion: Mainly considering Matt confirmed, they will improve the traffic on that route! Hopes it will not be only the traffic, but also it deserves an update to TSW4 features, as it happened with Dresden Riesa! It is not so long, but a very interesting one , from the traffic point of view: DB Regio, Talents, ICE 3, 101 + IC, and freights. As to time related issue, I believe the route is Ok But if someone else have other data, please inform.
Same here. I just fired up TSC and drove both. The 380 is pretty much the same as the 385 - hardly any forward view and no traction noise. The Class 320 by contrast has a nice large windscreen (similar to a Turbostar) and endowed with a lovely electro traction sound.
Is it a possibility that there could be a scotrail bundle, with a 380, 320 and maybe a 318 included, they did say something about a fleet of scotrail trains after all
Well that would be better though it seems unlikely DTG would do a three train bundle when they barely give us one these days with a new route. The only thing that might sway me to purchase this is if an extended or new route is involved and the 314 gets a layer.
They've already got a decent fleet at the moment.. 314, 170 and the 385 - I'd consider that enough of a fleet (for me), unless they're considering the 68 set; they can add that any day!
I'd rather DTG make the 380 instead of Rivet. Rivet might be good at modling, but sounds are still a weak point and physics as well. DTG would do better than Rivet in my view
And can you drive a 700 on Brighton Mainline? The 700 was designed and released for SEHS, As was the 465.
