For statistics nerds reading, England has a population of around 56.5 million people and Scotland around 5.5 million people (2021 census estimations). Wales is around 3.1 million people and Northern Ireland is around 1.9 million people.
I'm gonna wait and see before freaking out. I assume TOD4 for Cathcart will be part of the package. If not, it's a much less appealing product, and i have to assume DTG knows they'd face some pretty fierce criticism if they didn't.
I'm wondering... What if Rivet were teasing something DTG were working on and DTG were teasing something another developer (maybe Rivet) were working on.. to further confuse us? So maybe Rivet aren't working on this potential 68 but DTG are instead.. and vice versa for the 380 and that German thing? Hmmm...
i SWEAR [EDIT - Jan - Language] RIVET BETTER NOT BE WORKING ON THE 380! *CRYING EMOJI* I DONT WANT THEM SCREWING UP MY LOCAL TRAIN!
Hahaha, I'm not confirming anything.. that's just a guess - don't get too worried, not just yet anyway!
Exactly! Even an old EMU or an electric loco would be better! Obviously a new UK loco or DMU (old or new unit) would be better than all those...
If I had to choose I'd rather have a scottish loco from Rivet than a scottish route. Whilst their rolling stock isn't quite on DTG's level, it's miles ahead of their routes. With the exception of Bernina, which is awesome. But I'm still trying to figure out how the same company can make two routes after one another, with such a drop in quality.
Heads out of the sand everyone, an emu is definitely coming. And another, and another, a whole mob of them. I wonder how many different EMU’s there are. Plenty to keep DTG and Rivet busy for years to come. And I guess ATS when they start releasing content. There is definitely a need for older UK electrics in TSW. Something other than old tube trains of course. We have a handful of those already, some in disguise.
DTG: what’s that I’m hearing, sounds like EMU EMU, seems an electrostar is what they cry out for (disclaimer: I like all trains the traction don’t matter to me, it’s not how I judge them)
Might be an unpopular opinion here but if I was buying dlc then I would have been pretty happy to see the 380, especially and primarily for Cathcart, more services on what is mostly a 1 train route and seeing a station go from pretty empty to a form of not empty at the least (I’m not sure on its impact but from I’ve heard it’s a significant amount of services) future potential is pretty great, TSW is seeing a decent ScotRail Collection rise. would have been quite an easy day 1 purchase provided I could judge it safe and not a bad release state with an unknown fix date.
That's a lot smaller than I thought, I was expecting Scotland to have a population in the 10s of millions at least!!
a lot of the landmass of Scotland is mountainous, among other reasons for its lesser population. more is certainly no guarantee of better.
If Scotland had the south's milder climate I'd live there, the people are lovely, the cities are wonderful places to visit and I'd happily wake up to see Scottish countryside every morning.
Arriva would presumably have given access to the Class 710 for research, though my verdict is still out on the sounds. At times it seems like they blended the 314, 700 and one of the DB red worms to synthesise an approximation.
I'd love it if we were to get a Class 68. If it's anything like the AP pack it'll be fun to THRASH it across Scotland (assuming it is for Scotland).
