So... 2 pages of bickering later... what have we learned? That what I wrote in post No.1120 is probably what people should do. "It's probably best to wait and actually see what it is." There will still be people who will just think this is an unnecessary expense of course, but at least when the price moaners arrive, they are at least moaning about facts. There are always those that think six months of work and capital investment should be sold really cheaply, or possibly be free (seen in all the "this should be an update" comments) - there's nothing we can do about that.
I mostly agree but I think speculation about something that has just been announced is good and makes for meaningful discussions. It should just be made sure that when more information comes out, to keep yourself informed instead of continuing to just speculate.
Well, people learn quick that this thread is AP Fan Club and different opinions will be drowned in a mix of drool and bully. The only reason I'm here is because thanks to the activity this topic is always in my face and the only way to dismiss it is to open it. (Same as with creative center for screenshots, it was WIP Southeastern Network highlighted.) Practically this is just advertisement disguised as a topic. A 3rd party section could help it. The argument that it takes work, so it deserves appraisal isn't valid in my opinion. Look, I put a lot of effort into my screenshots so I deserve to win every other week. Right? Well then! What actually matters is whether the product is bringing you value matching or surpassing its price.
Except that it doesn't. It just turns into an argument. I'm not sure what there is that's meaningful from the past couple of pages of this thread. Exactly. So this bickering in here really kicked off Saturday/Sunday, and it was all based on a screenshot. No one knew anything, but as usual, the anti-AP police arrive and start informing us how ridiculous it is to have a cloud pack, and that AP are not working for the good of the community etc. Same Shizzle.... Different Day. If people had just waited to see what it was they were actually commenting on..... (shrug). Personally, I think this entire thread should be locked. Some people just cannot help themselves and new AP products are just a red rag to a bull to the some people. When you have threads where people feel the need to tell you how "proud" they are have never bought a AP product, yet feel the need to stir the LOVE and create divisions and arguments, then I fail to see how any good can come of it. Then you have the usual North American contingent who like to inform us all that AP is a dying company (apparently it's been dying for years now)... then the screenshot crowd show up to stick the boot in as well. Then the recently predictable and laughable comments about how I have no right to say anything at all, ever, because I no longer pay for AP products (ignoring the fact that I have previously paid hundreds on their products over the years). Groundhog Day.
See what I mean? They just can't help it. Oh give it a rest. It was supposed to be a thread for people interested in upcoming AP products... so of course there are people who like AP products in here. [EDIT - Jan - Quarrelsome]
Starting to miss the days when we were all just genuinely nice to eachother here and were excited about upcoming AP products. Now it's more arguing than kindness and excitement.
He's always complaining about how those who don't have third party addons and AP products never win. It's all in his post history. His comment about effort not equalling value is just more nonsense. What else gives something value? Lock the thread. It's not longer a repository for AP work in progress news.. it's just a platform for the usual people to whinge about AP.
Starting to agree. I even just deleted my post which you quoted because I realised it would just cause further arguing instead of stopping it.
A question about the new Sky pack. Do I need to have the AP Weather Pack for the Sky Pack to work or is it stand alone? I know it might have been mentioned but it got lost in all the bickering.
I was hesitant about this when I read about it but some of the pics look absolutely superb. I'll no doubt end up buying it.
It needs the Weather Pack 2.0. From the manual: This pack is an expansion to our Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 which must be installed for this to pack function.
It has not been confirmed yet however reading the manual it does sound like it works without the swep2.0 but I would await for a actual answer from AP direct
It be not mentioned in the manual hang on I will copy paste a secstion that shows “if you don’t own the swep….”
https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com...ecPyt5WR91R9SEnNDnpS6fku_1C2LTufCrHxhJg#page2 Here is link to manual Peter page 2 says swep is a requirement. But if you scroll down to page 16 it mentions if you don’t own swep but this pack it will revert to default textures etc if a scenario is made a different way. we will need a actual answer from AP to confirm if it is required or not. I can imagine it being if you are just wanting new clouds you can actually select the clouds from a drop down like you can in swep without weather transitions. But AP be best to answer
Hey all, this is a friendly reminder to adhere to our forum rules when posting. Feel free to discuss anything, but always keep a respectful and civil tone. All the best, Jan
I wonder if they will prevent non-owners of the 2.0 pack from buying the cloud pack or whether people will be able to buy the cloud pack to find they cannot use it. Also, I don't appreciate people trying to sum up a discussion as saying "See, everyone now agrees" when everyone does not agree. I missed the quarrelling - thank God - but I still don't agree. 20 pounds for the sky and weather, and will it be another ten pounds for the clouds? It's now the cost of a route. For nice fluffy clouds. Are the screenshots nice? Sure. Does it add any gameplay elements? No. I'm here to drive a train, not look at the clouds. Everyone just has their own preferences and things that interest them. It took me a while to get on board with the original sky and weather pack, and I think I only installed it a month before the new one came out, coincidentally enough. Now it's not good enough. LOL I'll just use whatever defaults come up where it occurs. If you want to say it's storming and I get to drive in the sun, I'll just have a laugh.
erm v1 is not good enough how ??? it will still work ??? You just wont have the added extras v2 gives. That’s the point in an upgrade. Also where have AP mentioned anything about cost yet ???? They haven’t so your comment of it being £10 is invalid and before you say I am putting words in your mouth AGAIN read your own comment YOU SAID IT
I am not sure what you are getting at here? I am speculating on the cost. I never said it was announced. Hence the "will it be" in the comment to imply I do not know if my speculation is correct. Please read more carefully next time. .
the pictures on the blogs are just beautiful it certainly shows the level of detail Richard has put into capturing the most realistic images he can in sim.
All installed ready. I think they've desaturated the sky a little to much, but it's better than the crayola blue you normally see in TS.
I know you talk at a million miles an hour Cyclone, I'm just curious whether you slow down enough to actually absorb what you say.. By your own words you've hit the nail on the head, ALL of the AP content whilst it may not improve the state of your wallet will irrefutably improve Train Sim Classic.
Which is what I said. I even say in a couple of the videos that I can see a difference; one sky with the sun I think looked excellent. I just can’t fathom the cost for v2. It is way up there, even with the tiny discount (which probably should be larger, but that is just an opinion). But I have by now used a few of the trains as well, and they do provide more interaction and usability, which is good for a sim. Also, what do you mean it does not improve the state of the wallet? Gets all that change out of there.
I know it's what you said Cyclone, my point is you often slate AP for pricing, worth of content, cost verses QoL improvement and so on then inevitably turn around and say yeah well I bought it anyway, not having a dig just trying to point out that you usually end up excepting that AP stuff is worth it because of how it improves the game so maybe you should just cut the first part of where you complain about it.
The four horsemen of the improvement of TSC and four more nails in the coffin of the "better looking game" TSW LOL!
Does it bring a timetable mode. Not sure I want to pay £19.99 for clouds after buying WEP mk2 after buying the first one also. Not sure where train sims are heading TSW in flip flop of DLC eras and TSC needing a coding degree to make a predictable activity.
The issue is that prices are all higher than they used to be. The stuff I have bought was generally on sale because the retail price IS too high for my budget, and some of the higher prices now (was it 30 pounds for the 156?) are just silly at this point. 40 pounds for weather and clouds in an updated pack to what I already have is technically a huge investment I cannot handle right now. I am not saying the stuff is necessarily bad. I am saying the prices are high. Would I use it if someone gifted it, or as a promotion on video? Sure. I just can’t afford to buy it. The problem is some folks are always trying to be apologists (come on, bro, they have to eat too!). This is the cause of a lot of the negativity here. Let’s just be friendly and remember everyone has an opinion. Some may even say it is a waste of money. That is their opinion. I will not always agree with an opinion, but I will defend the right to have one.
It came with a scenario. That is a key element. Hence why the loss of some in older packs is something I dislike (instead of improving them). They are still better than a lot out there. Wanted to add this on my other post, but editing is not working ATM.
It helps to have scenarios to try out something. For a $25 sky and weather pack, the value would be improved with scenarios specifically using the new things in the pack.
It had ONE scenario? LOL. There are tons of scenarios that use the original SWEP on ATS for absolutely free. Ok.. I can't get my head around this. Nothing you are saying makes any sense LOL.
It was a general comment that scenarios add value to a pack. But honestly, I got v1 in a sale and just didn’t install for a while.
