I really enjoy using AFB on trains fitted with the technology, but I wonder why the likes of the DB BR 143 has this built into the main throttle, whilst other trains such as the DB BR 182/146/185 have separate levers and others don’t have it at all. Surely anything that makes driving a train safer (and AFB does by limiting/holding the maximum speed of the train so the driver can pay more attention to the signals etc rather than the speedometer) should be included in every train - within the throttle handle like the DB BR 143. I wonder why this isn’t consistently the case?
