The Class 390 AI at night time are running daytime running lights when they shouldn’t. Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought something looked odd. (This was the 07:41AM service to MKC, Date : 13th December. I’d say it’s still too dark for daytime running lights). SERIES S

Apart from that, I’ve not noticed any issues other than the TPWS safety systems light not going out although systems are activated. So far I’ve been enjoying it!

The traction motor blowers are spot on when you start moving. From what I’ve played so far, all the 390 needs now is running sounds as I know they weren’t able to get them (could use another sound set and edit them) and interior running sounds (sounds are important to me).

Also on the Class 390, the rotating Carden Shaft seen spinning next to the bogies has a lot of motion blur. I don’t know wether it was meant to be that way but I remember when you guys updated motion blur on the bogies which looked brilliant, so is there anyway you could do the same to the Carden Shaft?

overall, brilliant train to drive, loving it! Great job to everyone at DTG:) IMG_9586.jpeg

The 11 car variant has 2x coach A. This is much more apparent in northbound trains.

Thank you for the calibration tip. This has resolved my Hill Start issue with the 390.

After lowering the pantograph, I can't raise it up again. This prevents me from completing the "Pend-No-Lean-No" scenario

I downloaded some custom liveries for the 390 from Creators Club, but they don't appear on AI in timetable mode. This of course is a longstanding problem across many DLC in TSW. Now that we have the ability to view and select layers, perhaps we can next gain the ability to see what units within a DLC support custom liveries, and which don't. But for the 390, at least, they don't work. This on Series S.

As seems to be standard on all locos, the headlights on the 390 are absolutely pathetic. Please DTG, all trains should have headlights that act like the headlights on the Vectron. They light up a decent area and mean we can actually see signs in time etc.

Please fix this on all locos. Just copy and paste the light pattern from the Vectron for now if you have to.

What is TASS and tilt mode? I see that the train tilts when turning, is this the work of these modes? Please explain.

TASS - Tilt Authorisation and Speed Supervision.
This system monitors the train and allows it to run at a higher speed than non-tilting trains. When enabled, you will see the train tilt when going around corners.
When you see a speed board with a second yellow/orange speed underneath with EPS, this means that you can run at the higher speed (EPS = Enhanced Permitted Speed).
The blue light on the control desk will illuminate when you are permitted to use the EPS limits.
If the TASS is faulty then the train can only run at the maximum permitted line speed as indicated by the normal round speed boards.

What is the point of the Pend-no-lea-no scenario?
You disable TASS but the hud doesn't reflect this and still allows you to run at EPS speeds without any scoring penalty.

The lights are not for the driver to see, but for the train to be seen.

Thanks for information. Is there an in-game description of EPS? Or maybe an official FAQ on the forum or support section? I see a standard limit on UI that cannot be exceeded.

That's as well as may be, but there's not a chance the real thing projects that little light forward, especially more modern trains. It needs fixing in game.

I suppose if the lights are that dull then it'd be hard to see the train from a distance, let alone from the cab.

DadRail (who is a real driver, albeit not on Pendolinos) stated during his 390 review he thought the headlights were about right.

That's not how it usually is for UK trains. The lights are more often that not for people working on the track or stations so they can see it coming.

I really do wish the TMS screen was more interactive. Would be nice to have a Expert 390 for such a requested train.
This may of been mentioned pretty sure but the First Class ends are in the wrong formation, at Euston for a Milton Keynes bound train it should be at the Rear not the front.
But I do with the TMS screen was a bit more interactive.
I love Avanti Passenger Announcements and it be great if we could them one day as it does make it more immersive.

Again, are you honestly saying that the lamps produce so little light you practically can't even see trackside signage? For an old class 45 or something I can understand, but anything built since the 80s has headlamps that do project at least *some* light forward. This is not represented in game.

EDIT: Check out either the Vectron or the new ICE-T at night. There is a small-ish splash of light in front that is enough to give you a tiny bit of track visibility, as well as being able to see the signage from more than a metre away. This is how it should be on trains like the 350 and 390.

This is a HST from about 13 years ago. They had brighter lights fitted at this point. This is a clue

For what its worth, I played this with my best mate who drives 350s on this line for a living. I did a night run, and he said the amount you could see was pretty much bang on - if anything it was a little too bright around parts of Euston.

When an AI 390 pulls up to Euston it doesn't shut down the cab properly, EG Turn headlights onto 'Tail', leaves Master Key on with Reverser in forwards.

Regarding headlights, if the lights are meant to be visible from a distance then they probably won't be helping the driver that much. Light that gets reflected back to the driver won't be reaching the track worker further down the line.
While you could make the light brighter, so more light reaches the driver and track worker, that would risk dazzling other drivers. They are probably low powered but more focused beams.

Just had my first run with the Pendolino and was very impressed!

Only negative thing I’ve noticed so far:
    • Considering this is a relatively expensive and separately available loco add-on, it’s pretty disappointing that the PIS screens inside the passenger carriages aren’t working. You’d kinda expect that to be the case for any train coming out nowadays, especially loco DLCs.
      • Edit - October: The screens seem to display the next stop now, nice!

Sometimes the 390 formation has two A ends.
Example is service 9S44, selected from journey mode, Peculiar Pendolinos chapter.
    PC steam.
    20240916164123_1.jpg 20240916164144_1.jpg 20240916164149_1.jpg
EDIT: Same service selected from the timetable correctly has A and K ends.

Not noticed anything that hasn't already been mentioned already.
The only thing I have noticed that I don't believe has been mentioned is some awful distortion on the low horn... I've played about with my TV audio settings, and to get the 390 low horn to sound normal, everything else has to be insanely quiet.....

(Edit - upon some more testing, and using some old external speakers - it does appear to be an issue with my TVs sound system.

The headlight issue is important for me. I've heard from enough drivers and others on the forum to realize that, in the UK, headlights are different from those on US trains.

However, we're not driving real trains and we haven't been trained on real routes or driven them so many times that we have a head-map.

So, in the game, a little dramatic license would be useful to make UK headlights light up the track in front and allow us to see signs and landmarks coming up and going by.

Heaven knows DTG do a poor job with US headlights, but at least they light the way a bit. How's about making UK headlights do more, even if they don't in real life.

    Spot on
You can set up the correct way.Left in forward rather than neutral.
Matthew, may I ask if you have run a night 390 timetable?
If so,are the headlights fitted upside down on the Pendo, the ole is illuminated but almost nothing in front of the train.

Most of the sounds on the train are decent.

Running sounds (external and internal) would make this great.

    Thanks Matthew,
I did adjust GPU settings before I asked, just to be sure.Only thing wrong with the Class 390 apart from what's already been mentioned.
Going through Berkhamsted onboard a 390,is never going to get old.
    Appreciate your time.

Am I the only one hearing that extremely high pitched running sound or whatever that is? Sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

Is it the air conditioning you're hearing?
You can turn it off; takes a few seconds to run down.
Just to the right of the gsm-r.

After some research Crosstie, I've found the answer.
    Hello lovely DTG.
GWE class 43 Night headlamp is the cure.(Original not remastered)
It's not over the top for the vampires (fans of nighttime timetables)
And you already have the asset and hopefully won't upset anyone.
    So how about it Matt?

Sounds like tinnitus, like someone else said

Not heard anything out of the ordinary.
Whacked up the audio, windows open and closed.
Are you on a foot warmer or pc?
If you've got a pc; just check your sound is not outputting above 24bit 96khz.
After updates before installing tsw5,mine was set too high.

I'm on PS5...using the horn activates emergency braking. Vaguely remember this bugging the Azuma last year when TSW4 was released.

not really a bug, more of an advice - if you want the Safety systems isolated light to go out and thus have full points, you can either:
    - set safety systems and then the reverser into forward

    or

    - if you first set the reverser and then set the safety stuff, the light is still on... a workaround/trick that worked for me was to isolate Permanent tilt and then re-engage it into normal :)

also, as an addition to my previous post - for some it may be obvious, but for others not really... on the left side there is TPWS panel with three indicators, take not of the middle, yellow one that says Temporary isolation/fault... in the center there is TASS panel with various stuff, take not of the blue indicator/light which says Speed supervised (or supervision?)

you might notice that if the blue TASS light isnt on, the yellow Temp.isol. light isnt on either... once the blue TASS light goes ON, that means the train is under TASS supervision, and it apparently temporarily isolates TPWS, so thats why the yellow Temp.isolation/fault light comes ON
