It's a joke about how we really have 0 idea what the next route is so it could be literally anything, even something crazy like that, which is way too long, spans many countries, isn't really a single route to begin with (you wouldn't really be able to drive across any large section of it realistically), and isn't even the same gauge the whole way.
I remember that people were on the roof and track in the LIRR Race Day scenario before they fixed it so maybe that was part of testing the New Delhi DLC
I noticed that DLC are usually released on the Thursday 2 weeks after the DLC's achievements first appear on Steam. I checked all the way back to Main-Spessart Bahn and the only exception was the DB BR 182, since it was delayed in order to fix PZB on Rapid Transit. With that in mind, the achievements for the BR Heavy Freight Pack did go up not long after the announcement did, so I'm guessing it will be released on June 6th. Now, back to the other new vintage British diesel-electric freight themed thing, I guess...
I’m looking forward to what ever the next us train sim world route will be that Dovetail will release i’ll Buy it.
Have you ever thought of becoming a detective, or are one ? though with the TVL curve ball after "shuffling the natural order" you never know what could happen. I honestly hope so, the more content the better for everyone
Just updated the OP with some info from CookedIniVersion.txt, which has the whole DLC list thing. Thought it might be handy. I'll try to keep it updated occasionally, maybe with every update? And yeah, no US news in here. *Maybe* they'll update this file when the base game gets updated with the release of the BR Heavy Freight Pack, which on another note is way too long to type out and doesn't abbreviate well.
The digital displays are just the MFDs. If you go into the actual game files, RSN, the M7, and MSB all have a “Digital Displays” folder already (it’s not some unreleased content or anything) which entirely references the screens in the cab. No clue why the RSN one doesn’t appear in the list even though it’s in the files, but there are a few things which seem to be missing from the list.
Great work RailDan. GWE yards and sidings really need these. Also got my eye on the 47 GWE scenario. Aswell as the GWE/WSR file.
Don't get too excited- Matt said somewhere on discord that the scenario packs were just editor tests, and not anything for release. The freight wagons do appear to be real, though.
Oh, that stuff definitely is real. We even found pictures of the MFA. I have no idea when that was posted, but it must be relatively old. This Christopher Linington guy was with DTG for ages, even with TSW from the start, but left August last year. The 'newest' TSW thing he has are prerelease shots of NTP (wow that route looked pretty good even months before release). Unlike those shots, some of his other pictures are quite familiar since he seemed to get the screenshots for the store page quite often. Anyway, the EWS stuff. Could be anywhere from 2 years old to 10 months old. Either way, that doesn't sound like the kind of project that is getting attention right now. Especially since the artist making it isn't working for DTG anymore.
Yup- so it's kind of hard to tell if the whole thing is still on the table, since it sounds like we would have heard of it by now. It's either in limbo or cancelled, which (WARNING: THE FOLLOWING WORDS CONVEY AN OPINION) I think is a good thing actually. If they cancelled it, it's not the kind of DLC that would actually sell well, as we've already seen the 08 and I'm not convinced on spending $20 for a few freight cars, a new livery, and some scenarios for a route that doesn't really have a lot of opportunity for 08 scenarios. If it's in limbo, maybe when they get the time they'll use what they learned from the whole DB BR 182 fiasco and go back and fix GWE a little (no, I don't expect them to update it to modern day, come on people).
GWE is modern day, relatively speaking. I would like to see some more DLC for it, an Electrostar in particular but I believe the OHL are not actually functional. The 08 isn't something I would have particularly had in mind though as I think it would be very limited in use.
Yes. Im thinking more optimisation on GWE if possible. Maybe find a way of including a full hst rake on all platforms? The addition of ATP and some sound tweaks?
I think it would add to the interest of the route, but i think it should be implemented with the 08, another loco (56?), and the wagons. Just like the NTP freight DLC.
I kinda expect that project to be cancelled and I think we might see the rolling stock later somewhere.
Speaking of switchers without much switching opportunity, what do youbguysckake of this? Looks like we ARE getting a US DLC next... but an odd one. I'd expect an announcement tomorrow and release in 2 weeks.
It's also interesting that DTG chose this since they can't really use it anywhere else. Amtrak had them rebuilt from SW9's, a fairly obscure switcher in itself, and still owns all 9 in existence.
Looks interesting. I know very little about US railways, is this likely to be of any use with the existing routes or is it likely to be for a new route?
No, it's part of Amtrak's switcher fleet to shunt Amfleets and ballast cars around. All active SW1000R's are on the NEC. The achievements also make it clear that we will be switching Sunnyside Yard with these. (Interestingly, in real life they're all on the NEC, too, but at the wrong end- they're all based in Washington!) The cabcars do in fact operate on this part of the NEC, and are commonly used on services from New York to Harrisburg (south end of NEC route). And yes, that would mean they are stored in Sunnyside.
I have hardly used the NEC as it seems to lack much variety in traffic. It does have some nice parts though as you approach New York Penn. It is the one DLC I really regret purchasing. Are there not some local trains missing from it, I am sure I read that somewhere? If so I would have thought they would have been suitable as DLC!
It looks ugly like all American trains. I think U.K stuff should just be released. Not getting this ugly thing and a shunter a midget could only fit in. Disgusting..
New Jersey Transit operates hundreds of commuter trains per day on the south end of the route, but that isn't going to change the length or number of stations on the route. Doesn't really make sense to model busy commuter operations with only 4 stations.
Quite a few people would disagree with you strongly, including myself, and there's no reason that DTG should only make British stuff only because of you. Besides, calling just about any American loco a "midget" compared to British stuff is a bit inaccurate, to say the least... call them ugly all you want, but at least stick to facts.
I did wonder. From reading up on wikipedia these locos are 1000 horsepower (or 1200) and huge compared to say an 08 American railroads tend not to do things by halves so even if they look a bit odd to others, calling them "midget" is a bit off Not that I think the unit is a looker by any means...
No because a full man can stand in the 08 and 09 Where as that SW1000R thingy a midget could stand in there
Yeah... I don't think you're getting a sense of scale here. American switchers aren't exactly tiny. Here's an SW1001, which isn't the same locomotive at all but is a very similar size, next to a Class 59.
Is this actually supposed to be a serious post or is it some kind of failed attempt at humour?! Whichever one it is, it fails on both counts!
