Go on the map and select the train you want to remove. You can then remove the train or remove its path.
Just got to the map and click on the train like you would your own, then click remove train job done, I've done it many times with stuck trains however I don't think you can do it too many times otherwise the dispatcher throws a fit and the game crashes lol
Or does this only work if you have started in free roam, not in a timetable service? (BTW, I don't see any paths except my own blue line)
All right, figured it out. Free Roam functionality is disabled in Journey mode. But this means that the Blackpool journey cannot be completed, because this service is completely borked.
So you can’t spawn in a train that’s past the red signal couple to it with the service your driving then continue?
Yes, it is doable as long as you are fast, run to speed limits as much as you can and ignoring the 'wait one minute' means you can at least get up to the next red light which saves precious seconds. As long as you get into the signal block for the platform before the arriving train does then it will be held at a red instead of you, allowing you to complete the service.
Still a piss-poor way to design a service. And ignoring the "wait one minute" often means the points aren't set correctly, so you'll run off-line.
Journey mode has some limitations, as you have found, the full functionality is available in Timetable Mode.
Just wanted to say that I love this route, I upgraded from TSW2 (which I had barely used) to TSW4 in order to give it a spin after watching the preview videos on YT. I've only had one problem and that was being blocked on the approach to BPN on one specific diagram, seems that a few other folks have had that issue too though it can be intermittent as I've since done the same one and it was fine (or perhaps it has already been patched). I must admit that the waypoint marker on the approach to Kirkham is very annoying though, having to slow to around 10mph before the signal clears... With the TSC version being gradually extended out toward Blackburn I do wonder if BPO will get the same treatment? Or, with wishful thinking extend the line through Bolton to Manchester to meet up with that similar era route - NTP - which by the way, with the mods to spruce it up has really revitalised that old route
Haven't read through this thread so no idea if this has been mentioned before, but 2F11 Blackpool South to Ormskirk actually ends at Preston.
Hi, Is it normal for the 1Z74 service to use a 10-car Class 101 ? (service selected from a 3-car train in TSW menu)
Or a football special lol. On NTP there is a Leeds-Blackpool Railtour with a six coach DMU. A few years ago I was at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for a DMU gala and they operated a Nine Coach DMU in the evening. At the time it was the longest DMU train in preservation and I don't think it's been topped since then.
I found this footage on YouTube of Blackpool North at some point in the 1980s, it's already given me ideas for free roam lol.
Following today's update, I've tried running the Class 47 on BPO, and I still don't get the safety systems bonus meaning that I can't get platinum for those services. Safety systems are turned on, and work, so unless I am missing something incredibly obvious, there still appears to be a bug. I only get this issue with the class 47.
Just tried a short one, and had the same problem. I turned on safety systems, dealt with them the whole route. No bonus.
Yep, still bugged. What really sucks is that it's a Journey service, leaving that chapter uncompletable
Translation: we f*cked up, but we're going to blame it on you. Including those pointless 60-second pauses we impose. By "too slow" they mean "anything less than lunatic driving." RL shunting is not demolition derby. If you are going to make a shunting service which is time-critical, then at least insert timing goals into the schedule. (Oh, and don't impose stupid timeouts). While it is do-able - as a speedrun - it isn't enjoyable. More important, it stops being a "sim" and becomes a "game," as you struggle through failure iterations to memorize all the steps and try to beat the clock. No marks.
That is a fantastic picture! If that route was one with the Azuma (rather than just free roam/scenarios) I would purchase it. Old-fashioned routes just aren't my thing. I really hope Just Trains creates a modern mainline route, as I would love to see this attention to detail. Maybe they could do the Doncaster -> Newcastle stretch of the East Coast Mainline - including Heaton Depot. 18:31 -> 19:55 is listed on RTT as a journey length for a path today. 1 hour 24 is not far off what we currently have with Peterborough to Doncaster. Thoroughly impressed with their detail!
Just a quick ask, has anyone managed to get platinum medal on the scenario “back and forth” ? I only managed to get gold, thought it could be to do with not all the stops have station times and the points awarded for stopping positions are pretty low. (I use Xbox series x if that makes any difference to this.)
PS5 here, and no, I only got a gold too. Last time I had a go, it bugged on me and I couldn't complete it, but I might have another go later as it sticks out as one of only a couple of golds I have on that route with a Pacer.
I just managed to retry it, and again only managed Gold (with an even worse score than I got the first time). You need 15,500 for platinum. Screenshot below. It does seem to be tricky one.
Not sure why I haven't noticed it before, but I was trying "back and forth" again, and I think I've noticed the problem. All the stations are expecting you there at the 15:28, ie the time you are due in to Ormskirk.
Hi, While driving the 1Z49 service from Preston to Blackpool North I've encoutered a distant signal semaphore showing the "caution" aspect then a "clear" semaphore right before the Carleton level crossing (situated a short distance before Layton), and a few hundred meters later, a semaphore showing the "stop" aspect which surprised me. Is it normal ? If so, I would guess the first "clear" semaphore is linked to the level crossing ("clear" if crossing gates closed, "stop" if crossing gates opened) and the second "stop" semaphore actually was the one announced by the previous "caution" semaphore. Is there a signaling rule about that ? Here we can see the two semaphores, the second being far in the distance :
Semaphores in TSW are completely borked, see this thread: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/rule-39a-and-why-it-is-necessary.73240/ In reality the first stop semaphore would be at stop and only clear when you were nearly at a stop.
Both of them were home signals (red wing), the second did not have any distant signal and was showing "stop" right after encoutering "clear". Thanks ! That's what happened ! Now I understand. I saw the first home signal "clear" at a distance so I assumed it was possible to regain speed. Not knowing that the next signal was showing "stop", I was driving at around 30 MPH when I saw the next signal also being a home signal ... the emergency brake was not enough and my driving session prematurely ended here
IIRC, with sempahores one distant could be associated with a series of home signals; a Caution didn't mean "next signal stop" but "one of the next signals stop"
Was wondering (and I apologise if I've missed it) is there a service from Blackpool that stops at Salwick? I know a Preston-Blackpool service service stops there.
Hi, I did retry the 1Z49 service and I followed the rule 39a. The semaphore did never clear so I looked at the map and found out that this service is broken. There are two trains stuck before Blackpool North ahead, on the same track as ours : (player train is out of the screen) When you remove them you can proceed up to the "Go via" marker that makes you stop before the home signal right before Blackpool North. But then you're stuck again. On the track next to the player track there are two trains stuck : I removed them. The signal clears, you can proceed. Then, there is one last home signal (the one that can display the platform number you're headed to) that is showing stop ! But no AI train to remove this time. Just wait for a Pacer on its way to leave Blackpool North, as shown below : Then, you can proceed and stop at the platform (I got number 7). JT Benedict is this bug known ?
A small inconsistency, I think. I was driving 2J56 Blackpool North to Manchester Victoria. The ride in-game ends at Preston. As you approach Preston and use the announcement system, the passengers are told that the train will shortly be arriving at Preston, "where this service terminates". Well, it terminates for me as the in-game driver, but IRL I'm sure it would have continued on, so it seems to odd to tell the passengers otherwise.
There seems to be an issue with the signalling at Weeton in the Up direction. This is the distant, next to the signal box: The home signal (the only one this distant signal appears to protect) is here, pictured from behind: Note, you can see the road bridge with the signal box on it in the background. There is no more than 300 yards between the distant and the home signal. The first time I SPADed the home signal at about 50mph, and wondered if I'd done something wrong, so I tried the run again, to check. The distant prior to the Weeton distant was definitely 'off'. Approaching Weeton just below line speed (70mph) I put the brake into emergency the moment I sited the Weeton distant, and I still went past the home signal at over 30mph. One or other of these signals (the distant or the home signal) must be incorrectly positioned, as it's an unavoidable SPAD. The home signal in question isn't at danger very often, but if you run 1Z16 19:13 Blackpool N - Paisley Gilmour St on time, then it is.
While spawned on foot at Kirkham & Wesham, around 19:30 you can see the 0Z06 Blackpool South to Preston lone locomotive arriving with the AI driver driving the train from the rear-facing cabin.
Hello, I've been thinking of picking up this route in the sale. There seem to be quite a few DLC that add layers and subs onto it according to the Steam Store page, of which I own a grand total of zilch: Tees Valley Line, West Cornwall Local, Northern Trans-Pennine, Spirit of Steam, BR Heavy Freight Pack,BR Class 31, and BR Class 20. Which one of those adds the most to the route in terms of filling out the timetable (preferably driven by myself)? Any opinions are appreciated - thanks!
Northern Trans-Pennine, I'd say. Would also recommend the Heavy freight pack as that will add more to both Blackpool and Northern Trans-Pennine.
I agree with Matt. Next on the list, in my opinion, is the 31, which is magnificent on BPO. You won’t regret a few quid spent on it.
