Off topic, I know, but somewhat interesting. Nice to see I am not the only one who supposedly noticed this. Wasnt sure either, though, but I also have the same feeling the days you always ended up in a thunderstorm are behind us
Yes, I certainly hope so too. Makes driving much more enjoyable! And I rarely encountered any fog lately... a stark contrast to earlier days, when fog was basically mandatory after a couple of minutes
It was coupling to an LFR-native Tadgs, I believe. So, the issue was most likely with that then. Having played around a bit more now, my feelings are a bit mixed. The Mittenwaldbahn Silberlinge are extremely loud from a 218 cab at speed on PS5. I’d have to check again, but I feel like something is not quite right with the mixing there. The timetable does feel alive and busy. I appreciate all the lovely touches like the 218s with long distance trains between Mainz and Gau Algesheim or the 218s at Boppard. The local freights with the 194 are also lovely. All the AI at the end stations. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a single service with Umbauwagen yet (are there even any?) On the negative side, between 628s, mint green n-Wagen and orient red 110s, it definitely does not feel like 1984 at all. I’m not criticising the scope of the pack or asking for more reskins/rebuits etc., it’s just my observation that the timetable does feel rather anachronistic between the appropriate stock and the 90s stock (excluding the route itself, which is obviously in a 90s condition). Can’t be helped, but I’m hoping more vintage stock will be built up so that potential future packs like this one can feature more appropriate stock. It is a nice pack and a solid timetable. I do get the impression that (console) testing was not thorough enough though (sound levels of Mittenwaldbahn Silberlinge, walkway textures on the 194 roof, the 218 does not say Kempten on it on PS5 as it is apparently supposed to, inaccessible P/G valve on the 194, …).
well, P/G valves not being accessible affects everyone, the Silberlings and the 218 are interesting as I defintiley corrected that because it was deafening in the cab and part of me wonders if PS5 actually got that changelist. Otherwise the volume is identical to the LFR ones as that is one thing I didn't change.
I would like to know the reasoning for this also. I have not found one service yet either. You see them being parked around the route, but I have not seen a single one moving. Is this supposed to be this way?
Yes, it is supposed to be that way. There is a short message in the manual stating that the Umbauwagen, while included, are really just for use in the railtours with the E94 on MNK. While they are present as static stock in LFR and are extensively used in one of the two LFR scenarios, I don't think they have any timetable services.
There's a very small number of regional services which use them. Check the timetable for the 111, the 7506 consists of two Umbauwagen as well as some n-Wagen. There's also a (very nice) shunting service with the 365, to pick up those two Umbauwagen and couple them to the 7506
That could be it. Would also explain why the PS5 still has modern markings on the 218 while everybody else seems to have era-appropriate ones.
It was already confirmed by DTG in another thread that the update probably wasn't received by PS players.
DBBR 111 service D904 depart Mainz 1958 Lt and arrival into Koblenz at 2052 LT. Played it today and it was a marvellous sunset and with it the true quality of the Silberlinge and Bqmz 291 showed with the nightlighting. It was amazing when a DBBR 103 with these IC came across. Then the "Rhein in Flammen" fireworks, a dream. Just two items I noticed of which I'm not sure if it's just me. 1. Just before Bingen E7526 towards Mainz crossed my way and I noticed it having three Silberlinge and a driver cab car driving in direction Mainz with the 110 pushing. But behind the 110 there were two or three Umbauwagen coupled. Is that intended on being that way? 2. Between Bingen and Oberwesel I noticed the hectometre board for km 141.4 twice. Please let me know, if its just me. Oh, and AmityBlight thanks for confirming that error with the tutorial on the E94, which it was. Just wasn't sure. Kind regards.
Anytime This wasn't unheard of. In the past, some particularly frequented trains occasionally got additional cars added behind the loco. Here's an example with the 218 in the middle (on Hamburg-Lübeck route, actually): Image by Axel from drehscheibe-online.de
Kind of has to be that way with the Umbaus as they don't have the KWS cable, as such if they were put infront between the cab car and loco, the cab car would be effectively inoperable.
Are there any loaded coal trains? I drove an empty coal train yesterday and noticed that all coal trains in both directions at this time were empty. Is this universal?
Good point, totally forgot that only some of the 3-axle versions had a KWS cable. I still don't get it why the 4-axle ones got none, honestly. By the way DominusEdwardius , I did more timetable services and didn't come across any more timetable issues during the last days. Seems my usual luck had me picking the more bug-ridden services of the timetable for my first couple of runs Although, one small thing comes to mind. I recently did the preparation for service 7506, which is not mentioned in the timetable, since it starts with the n-Wagen facing "forward" (Is there any way to get those kinds of services into the timetable? Mittenwaldbahn has some too). So I went out to the yard on foot, set up the train, reversed it to the platform and stopped it right on point. Perfect, service complete. I stayed put in the loco because I wanted to do the "proper" 7506 afterwards as well. The AI 365 slowly brought the two Umbauwagen from behind, coupled them to my train... but didn't decouple itself afterwards. I waited over 5 minutes, nothing happened. Could it be that the 365 becomes part of "my" train after coupling, and that causes the issue? The AI just leaving it, so to say? Also, the noisy n-Wagen sounds in the 111's cab still give me a headache. Seems to be more of an issue with the 111 than the n-Wagen... on the 110 and 218, the sound is fine. The noise starts to get prominent above 60 km/h, perhaps that's the reason why it wasn't as noticeable on Mittenwaldbahn.
Yeah I've attended to the 111 not muting the N (and IC) wagen sounds as intended, although I'm not sure that will be in the first batch of fixes. The 365 I suspect does come into your possesion. A lot of the timetable issues we suspect are down to the fact loading into a service means the timetable doesn't play out like the simulation since priorities of trains change and so things get out of order like with that 218 service (which you can actually complete by waiting 20 minutes!). Trouble being its very difficult, verging on impossible to fix that kind of issue!
It really does, I did some experiments and managed to trick the AI Started on foot, grabbed the 7506 preparation service, set it up, reversed it to the platform, and a split second before stopping and completing the service, I stood up. The 365 came and brought the two Umbauwagen, coupled them, decoupled itself and backed away just as it should. I sat back down in the driver's seat of the 111 and service 7506 was ready to go Ah, that's a shame. The complexity in service we're getting lately with this new timetable as well as, for example, Mittenwaldbahn is quite a joy. I'll rather choose a complex timetable with the occasional issue over a dumbed-down and boring one.
Thanks DominusEdwardius and AmityBlight , remember hearing on it, but never seen it or dont actively remember this sight. Was great anyway to see all the traffic and the sunset atmosphere, plus fireworks. Learned something new, thanks to both of you. Kind regards.
Is there still an issue with the small update regarding the 218 on PS5? Tried a run today and I only able to apply power when I put the reverser in backwards. I don't remember the service number, but it was part 1 of the freight run towards Koblenz. EDIT: No issue, I simply didn't realize that the reverser was not in the notch 'forward' yet. I also tried a conductor mode run with the 218 and I just got a black screen with HUD On a 110 service it all worked fine. But I really appreciate the mint green n-Wagen repaints in silver-blue and silver-black.
I am wondering if the inability to achieve medals, except in training/scenarios, is a known issue that will be addressed in the next update? If it is not getting fixed in the next update, is there any plan to fix unable to achieve medals in timetable mode at any point moving forward? I also have the same question about station arrival times not appearing as player objectives. Thank you.
This very short list of upcoming fixes bothers me too. Hope we don't get something like Mittenwaldbahn all over again... one patch after release, then we have to live with the rest of the issues for eternity...
I certainly hope not. Especially seeing how all of these fixes seem minor to me. A fix for the inaccessible P/G valve on the 194 or the empty coal trains is much more pressing than anything in that list in my opinion. If those are all that will be fixed in the foreseeable future, then the state of the pack will be rather dire.
Yes in total agreement, the inaccessible G/P valve and the empty coal trains should be on a priority fix update list as well. The issues that we have raised as players in this thread for the most part feel rather more pressing, than the small list of fixes that we were just provided.
They are fixed, but these are the changes we could make within a few days of release before the cutoff for the 1st patch. The next patch unfortunatley will not be until after TSW6.
E94 088: Both roller blinds on the driver's side have no trigger Both roller blinds on the non-driver's side have no animation, just sound; they are completely missing. In Cab 2, the motor braking switch is not assigned to any hotkeys and must be operated with the mouse. The rubber on all four windshield wipers is green instead of black (doesn't look good).
Yes, unfortunatley the scoring was working at one point in time, but its something that likes to reset itself without warning for no apparent reason and that got missed. It has been attended to although won't be in the first patch.
PS5 Pro Unfortunately, today's update did not fix the scoring, so unless that's the intention, everything is at 0 points
In the post just above yours, DominusEdwardius mentioned that the issue has been taken care of, but the fix won't come with the first patch
What about the tutorial for the E94, which Bugs right at the point when one tries to push the lever from neutral to forward? Will that get a fix? Would love to accomplish it... Kind regards.
DominusEdwardius did you send out the wrong patch? Right blind now goes through the roof... And on the other cab the prompt to use the right blind that goes through the roof is where the prompt for the left blind should be, which leaves the left blind with no prompt to interact with whatsoever. Any chance of fixing that before TSW6? The wipers work on both cabs now btw.
E94 088 motor braking switch in cab 2 is still not assigned to any hotkey. Both engine room light switches are flickering.
Currently driving service 55300 Koblenz - Mainz on Linke and the 3 DB 194's are having an identity crisis, their numbers are 194 045-1, 194 161-6 and 194 045-1. Something's gone screwy somewhere because dual numbers shouldn't happen
