Sprint through the industrial north in a bygone era of ageing Pacers and Sprinter traction in Train Sim World 2: Calder Valley Line. Go from the heart of Manchester to the industrial city of Bradford in forty miles of highly-detailed railway

    History

Before the 1923 Grouping Act, the Calder Valley line was owned by the Great Northern Railway between Leeds and Bradford, with the rest being owned and operated by the London and Northwestern Railway. As part of the BR Modernisation plan, in 1961, the line began to be almost exclusively operated by the new Class 110 DMUs, subsequently nicknamed ‘Calder Valley DMUs’ for their regular work in the line. However, their high maintenance costs and non-standard Rolls Royce engines caused their early withdrawal from 1987. The Class 150/2 ‘Sprinter’ DMUs gradually replaced these ageing units on Calder Valley line work, supplemented by a fleet of Class 14x ‘Pacer’ railbuses and other ‘Sprinter’ units including Classes 156 and 158. This line-up remained largely the same until 2019, when Arriva Northern’s order of new CAF Class 195 DMUs replaced the Pacers across the line. In late 2017, Low Moor station reopened between Bradford and Halifax. There are currently plans to electricfy the line between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale via Mills Hill, due for completion in 2026

    Stations and length

The 40mi 27ch route is the slowest and northernmost of the Trans-Pennine routes and features 15 stations at Bradford Interchange, Low Moor, Halifax, Sowerby, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, Walsden, Littleborough, Smithy Bridge, Rochdale, Castleton, Mills Hill, Moston and Manchester Victoria.

    Rolling stock and service patterns

    - 1Jxx Leeds - Manchester Vic (between Bradford Int and Man Vic)

    - 2Kxx Halifax - Hull (between Halifax and Bradford Int)

    - 1Jxx Leeds - Manchester Vic (between Bradford Int and Man Vic)

    - 1Exx Leeds - Chester (between Bradford Int and Man Vic)

The route also has potential for a Class 150 or 156 DLC working 2Nxx Rochdale - Clitheroe services, 2Jxx Rochdale - Man Vic services and 2Rxx Leeds - Wigan North Western services

The route would be set in 2019, in the Northern Trains/Arriva Northern transition era, allowing for players to run many services from different eras using Livery Designer and Scenario Planner

Main reason I wanted this to be set in 2019 is because I want a pacer very badly
