Hopefully they don’t give us the “if you want to drive more use the scenario planner” excuse, altho I don’t think anyone has said this yet.
Cane Creek is something I'm certainly looking forward to, I'm partial to desert routes. However, what I heard today suggests just the branch from Brendel to Potash and UP locos in just the one Armor Yellow livery. The only activity mentioned was loading and hauling potash containers. If there's more to it than that, we will have to wait and see.
Your right about that, but senario planner is good to have as a extra option but not as the only option. For some of us who's livery editors skill just aren't that good having the AC4400CW and the SD40-2 in UP liveries just might be worth it.
If your news is true, it is really unfortunate. Expectation and enthusiasm disappeared. The U.S. rail network is amazingly long and it is the longest railroad in the world. However, I am very frustrated with the distance in the game. Can DTG reach higher altitudes within the length of the route?
If DTG was developing the rout they could, Clinchfield is 60+ miles of both mainlines and branch lines. However this route isn't by DTG, its by Skyhook, so they most likely chose only the branchline to get their feet wet with route building for TSW2.
To be fair to skyhook games they should get extra points for the fact that there frist route 35 mile which is not bad for a frist route effort.Remember many of dtg early routes where in that general range,Don't forget Rivets 2 route IOW&Arosa together are only around 24 miles combined so skyhook already beat both with there 1st route and that both there routes combined plus 11 extra miles.
The train should go forward. I think DTG should extend the Shaban route in the annual update, from Rodwood to Pittsburgh; Cumberland to Washington, DC.
It's strange that the locos and wagons haven't been shown yet,it's not like we don't know what the are.
Skyhook will do only the route? The locomotives - as they are the same or similar we have previously - are from DTG? Or they will do all the thing? Route + locomotives and freight cars? I believe this was not officially informed.
Cabooses haven't really been a thing since the mid-80s, except in specialty roles (e.g. to pilot "long shoves").
Skyhook games has worked on various equipment for TSW before, the tanks cars from SPG are by them, so I would expect them to make some new ones themselves. The locomotives in general will be the same, though there are minor differences between a UP AC4400CW and a CSX AC4400CW, and I think UP uses a different light package on their SD40-2s vs CSX's SD40-2s (At least flashing vs non flashing ditchlights). At most Skyhook will tweak the SPG models (Though the AC4400CW will need new trucks) to match a prototypical UP version.
I don't feel like they are appropriate for the route, for 1, I cant find any photos of them on the line at all. 2, they are better suited for a Union Pacific Route that features a mainline as the primary focus. Also 2 more possible locomotives SD9043MAC (Also note, that this Potash Local has boxcars for some reason) SD60M (Triclops)
Thank you for telling me about it since I was thinking of the Mainline at Brendel,UT since that's where they're going to be found. How about a SD50 then for Cane Creek?
An SD50 is possible, though UP has since retired most if not all of them now, some Ex Rio Grande/Southern Pacific ones would be nice as well.
You mean the 9800s SD50s. For the Main Line and future Cane Creek ET44AC tier 4 2500s-2600s & SD70ACE tier 4 3000s-3100s are a good fit. Provided Skyhook games check the Union Pacific website or American Railway magazines for updates on Cane Creek branch.
I have been requesting newer USA mainline diesel locomotives since April last year. Other community members too. I have posted several suggestions about it, including the SD70ACE, the ES44AC, the GE Tier4, etc. But as you can see on the Roadmap, after one year, there is no news about this kind of locomotives. We only have some little variations of the GE AC44: the one for CSX, and now we will have the UP one. It is a pity this happens, mainly considering, and the waiting seems to be long, for fans of these kind of trains. Main focus is clearly on European trains - Germans ones specially - which I also liked it!. But longer USA freight routes plus newer big diesel locomotives, it will not happen soon.
I give Cane Creek a pass due to it being done by a 3rd party studio, however, its a shame that Sand Patch Grade has only received a C40-8W as a DLC locomotive. On the other hand, I do wish that DTG holds off on doing some more modern locomotives till we get more modern Class 1 railroad routes, so that they could just release a single locomotive in a pack with the different paint schemes and road specific features at once (Like the GP40-2 pack for TS2021.)
