Hello, has anyone had trouble launching TSW3 tonight ? I cannot get past the TSW3 lightning screen, it just froze, have tried it twice but the same happened again. When I brought up task manager, I couldn't close the game down, had to restart the PC. Currently verifying TSW3 files 22% so far, a long process ..... It was working fine last night. Thanks.
Ahhh, so I'm not the only one! I've just posted in the Technical forum - I thought it was a creators club problem as it happened after I attempted to subscribe to a livery and scenario
I have the some problem! I also think it's because a Creators club problem. Now i can't login on Creators club
have verified the TSW3 files - one file failed to validate and will be reacquired. Downloaded 34.7MB file and patched - started game but the same problem - froze on the title page, couldn't get rid of it - had to turn PC off again ! 1.5 hours wasted and cannot play the game. Very disappointed and angry
Hey folks. We're investigating as we speak. Sorry for any inconvenience. Will update as soon as I know more.
Great to hear DTG is still awake. I have the same problem. Currently verifying the game files integrity, not much more I can do.I will keep you posted on my findings (if any) I already can exclude impact from mods, I have none installed. Also I have no engine.ini settings added. Local game cache check gives five errors. I will fix these and then retry. Game cache restored, but the issue stays. It works fine, but To The Trains or Resume Saved Game at the main menu blocks the game completely, and worse it also blocks my system, the only thing I can do is log off.
It might be caused by Dovetail Online. I cannot login there at the moment. In another thread this is suggested as well.
Phew, its not just me then. Same here - PC Steam - Game crashes on the intro screen or if I can get in, all menus are frozen. I have not played the game for a few days, but I did have a Microsoft redistributable download thingy through steam and when I first tried to launch it tonight it did some kind of mini update before the game launched Addendum - Verifying files found nothing, restoring a save gave backup didn't solve the issue. Removing the save game file completely, allowed me to access the menus but I must admit I didn't try anything else but I guess I would not have been signed into Dovetail live at that point with no save game file.
Ah, interesting. Just posted in the tech section that trying to load a saved game froze the screen requiring a hard reboot. Sounds like something broke, not my CPU or GPU. Will avoid until fixed.
Hey folks. Update here. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...rvices-down-over-weekend-19th-21st-may.70315/ Could someone who was having issues please try again, please? We've disabled Dovetail Live temporarily and hope this will help people get back into game.
Ive no problem with TSW (running on steam) but Civ 6 tried to do an update on steam this evening and now I cant play that at all. So perhaps the issue isnt DTG making but an issue with steam>?
As a temporary workaround, you can manually delete your old Dovetail Live Authorisation Session, allowing you to play TSW3 (without Dovetail Live services whilst we perform the maintenance), by following the steps below: Exit the game Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following: C:\Users\[User]\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld3\Saved\SaveGames Delete 'dovetaillive.sav' Restart your game - it should start as normal (minus DTL services temporarily). Doing this will not delete your Mastery Progress or uploaded Railfan Shots.
I did play last night and had no issues and was looking forward to playing tonight, but the game would not load tonight and encountered the same problems with task manger. Was not able to exit out of the game, ended up having to restart the computer.
Still begs the questions though, 1. Why on earth wasn’t this picked up at QA or beta - this is a totally game breaking bug, not a piece of missing hillside or bush in the trackbed. 2. Who decided to put an update out on Friday when the next working day is Monday. Though hopefully someone has been called in or frantically WFH to get this sorted. Hopefully at a minimum someone will be getting tea and biscuits over this on Monday morning and if I was new owner Focus Entertainment, I would be convening an enquiry into what on earth is going on with processes at DTG.
Thanks for this workaround, but a few questions: Will mastery be updated once it is online again? Or will you simply not progress mastery. Downtime for servers should be properly announced on beforehand. Can we please have an in game announcement if Dovetail live is offline? Can we have a feature in short notice that makes it not necessary to perform any user action when dovetail live is offline and returns to online later? You also should put an offline message at the login page for dovetail live, now you get an error message after a long waiting time. I would suggest to rename the .sav file instead, e.g. dovetailline.sav.offline You then can restore it when the services are online again.
I don't actually recall having any TSW3 updates in the past few days, but I stand to be corrected. I did have a steam redistributable download, which seemed to do a small update when I launched the game which might be completely unconnected. If this was the cause of the issue I can't really see it's DTG's fault this time. I would be interested to know if the planned maintenance of Dovetail Live was actually planned in advance or whether it was only in response to the crashing problems. If it was the former, its a slightly poor show that we were not previously informed. What is most concerning is that the game seems to completely fall over in this scenario and it does not allow the option to play "offline" with the only solution being to manually delete a save game file. Lastly thanks DTG JD for the prompt out of hours updates last night.
Most likely because internal QA machines (or at least when they have run on live streams) don't appear to be connected to DTG Live. Coding and such is always a dark art, it may work perfectly on test, but the second it hits a live service something breaks and it goes haywire. Seen it before with Wargaming.net and an update to World of Tanks, PTS update worked fine and went through 3 test itterations, second it launched to live servers, it went haywire and crashed to desktop instantly. One rouge line of code that hadn't been touched at all was to blame. I suspect it was disabled as a result, rather than cause. Judging from JDs posts.
I have the same problem: game hangs on startup. In the meantime, I'll try the workaround described. Hopefully there will be an update soon, currently TSW is not playable.
What actually was the patch? I can't find any notes anywhere, and Friday afternoon isn't a normal DTG patch release time.
There was no patch or update. The maintenance wasn't planned, and DTL was shut off as a result of the issues players were experiencing. Have summarised the events here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/game-freezes-after-strat.70311/#post-655958
I think it would be helpful to put a message at the platforms where possible as well. At steam you can do that. Many people do not read the forums here and I see a number of comments at steam on this topic.
Seems to be working for me now. Opened the game and it asked me to log in to DT live. Mastery stats etc all seem to be there.
https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...over-weekend-19th-22nd-may.70315/#post-656223 Update for today here: Shortened version - all services should be back up and running, except Creators Club (and some players having issues on Xbox Series S/X)
Can't log in on my PS5 in Australia. It worked fine last night (Aust time). Opened up this afternoon and tried to log in, but screen comes up as a network connection problem. However, I can log in on my phone and I can also log in on PS4. Looks like a PS5 issue I believe.
Good morning Thanks for letting us know, we're investigating the issues and will update you as soon as there are new developments.
