I think the point of the question was why there's never been a new version of the DB Class 66, as it has never been re-released or updated beyond its original GWE release.
It has, twice. ECW class 66 is updated over the GWE version. I believed the SEHS version has improvements again over the ECW one.
From my initial post: "I think the point of the question was why there's never been a new version of the DB Class 66" Other than its release as part of Great Western Express, the DB-liveried Class 66 has never been re-released. This means it is at least two versions behind the current EWS one.
Well, it would just be about importing that livery. At the time, EWS and DB UK were the same (interiors etc...). I don't see where the issue lies. It would just be a matter of reskinning ECML 66. Laziness? NO. Lack of time. NO. Lack of organization? Maybe...
Agreed, this is going to be the first piece of DLC I've purchased since Blackpool. Lots of AI activity going on by watching part 2 of the YT vid, looks great. Coupled with the route enhancements and the signalling issues sorted it's going to be an immersive experience. Will probably buy pack 1 as well if there's any kind of bundle. Really hope they decide to extend the network at some point, would be awesome.
LucaZone Adam, will services be timed for maximum line speed, or have they been timed around the top speed of the wagons at 60mph ? Also the CC liveries you used to test functionality, will you be making these available on CC ?
I am currently runn8ng 6A82 Whatley Quarry - Hayes & Harlington Sidings (aggregates) (pc) and yes the 60 mph limit is there for the wagons. They look and sound great. Skyhook have done a great Job on these and do hope too see more of these packs. Eight scenarios and 50 extra services over 4 routes is well damn good price How many scenarios nowndoes this make for SEHS..... gotta be in the mid 20's by now. EDIT I am not sure it is. Most of the time I was running on the up slow Between Reading & Hayes @60mph, But as I approached Hayes I noticed the speed limit was set 85. So for the majority of the trip it was set at 60 (the line speed is more like 80/90 mph. but thaty segment it was showing as 85 and not 60. Sorry if it sounds confusing. Hentis
Thanks for the discussions and questions regarding our newest development. Here are some responses for everyone. Has the 60mph speed limit on these types of trains been implemented? - Things have been setup that way, but the limit doesn't always appear to get applied. Gameplay has been timed to expect the trains to be driven at that speed. Will the custom liveries mentioned in the gameplay previews be coming to Creators Club? - No. These were just test cases. They were built in a developer/test version and are actually quite scrappy. If there is demand for such liveries, I might have a go at doing them properly. Why no DB red or different livery for the Class 66 this time? - Attempts were made to bring the DB red version to the pack but it ended up not being possible for many reasons. We are working with DTG to improve this situation, but (ad nauseam) licensing remains one of the biggest hurdles. It's no joke sadly. Why no new locomotive? - Building new locomotives for TSW is not easy. We've had mixed success with previous releases and so we need to be happy the right quality can be delivered the next time one is attempted.
Thanks for the engagement and for the work with both the Cargo Line packs thus far. Can I add my vote particularly for the DB red variant of the HOA please! Shame about the licensing issues around a DB red 66 however. Hopefully one day the issues can be resolved! Looking forward to getting the pack on Thursday…and future packs too!
Understandable Adam, your hands are indeed tied. All I ask is that other class 66 liveries in our DLC library are selectable in timetable mode.
Credit where credit is due. Remarkable recovery race from Skyhook which deserves my support. Nothing is perfect, but MML has become my favourite british route. Day-one purchase, just bring it on.
Indeed much appreciated for all the improvements and support, CL2 will be a day one purchase for me. Please just fix the reversed bogies on the Cane Creek AC4400CW.
currenty driving 6C62 southall yard - East USK (Aggregates) which starts off with the player in the wrong cab in the yard and having to change to the leading cab to depart. Also a red tail lamp is on the front of the class 66 and dont seem to dissapear (i cant find a click spot) loving this pack though really brings the MML and GWR to more life.
Thanks for the feedback and glad you are enjoying the experiences. Lots of effort was made to resolve the wrong cab situation at the start of some CL2 services on the GWE timetable, and with the help of DTG. However we could not resolve them. It is believed the GWE timetable is aligned to such old settings now that the method for these situations is not compatible. Attempts to update the settings of the GWE timetable to latest only caused it to metaphorically explode.
Having purchased cargo volumes 1 & 2, i'm very impressed with skyhook's offering with this route. going forward, i'd absolutely love to see a cargo volume 3, involving coal freight wagons that go in and out of Ratcliffe Power Station, if that part of the route was opened and accessible and utilised in this way it would really round off the route nicely. plus with Ratcliffe Power Station receiving it's very last real life coal freight delivery last week, it would be nice to see this brought back to life in this way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckkg0wl7dkro.amp is this something you would consider creating LucaZone ? Given the positive reception to both of your first two cargo packs, as well as the genuinely appreciated care and attention that has been put into significantly enhancing the whole mml route, i'm sure many of us would happily purchase a 3rd pack like this!
