Yes the others are 9.99 but someone said it cost more because of the new class 20 rebuild.

The thing I suddenly realised this evening (going mildly off topic potentially) is that modern era locos are now Class 20, 37 (EPX), 66 & HST (if it counts, let’s not have the big debate now!!)

By modern era I mean with GSMR & TPWS.

Probably because of the reworked class 20.

For people who have it, how do the sounds and textures compare to the Railfreight Class 20?

Bolts where bolts should not be.

Weird shadow issue where the top of the bogies are acting like the loco body is missing.

Textures including label gone from fire extinguisher.

    Amp Meter missing from HUD.

Sounds are identical. Textures are less grubby than the RF 20 which makes them look flatter, the resolution is comparable, they could both have been made at the same time for the same version of TSW.

Edit: I have been advised some pics are tiny, I think may have screwed something up. Raw links ahoy!

Edit: And since they are in the bogie picture I may as well mention, the red bogie springs look really weird compared to the old ones.

    Some good spots there.

Also, from looking at that hud image, they have used the dynamic brake logo when it should be the loco brake logo like in your first hud puc with the amps.

Can't believe i wasted my $ on this.

Only 4 playable services in the Class 20....that's gotta be a joke, right?

I mean it's totally my fault for not reading the article more carefully but 90% of the flask services being for the Class 47 is beyond disappointing

I think i just need to take a break from this game for a while maybe

    I think we all do!!

    That is the main problem.

We all keep giving them money and so where is the incentive to change their ways?

Also, why did they remove the VAC gauges from the HUD?

Assuming this version still has the brake selector and you can use it with other stock if you want.

They should at least swap in for other Class 20s on other routes to make some use of the redone model.
Otherwise, it's a real waste of all that effort done on these locos.

Exactly the same sounds as the twenty, plus with added AWS BEEPs and DSD bits.

Can the older class 20 and the new flask trucks be used in formation designer, also can the new class 20 model have a livery applied to it?

Not sure of the TVL twenty being able to use the FNA. But yes the DRS 20 is livery designer compatible.

These are Lucazone's designs and are available on CC to download and use.

    Thanks.

Was this true to life, or just a decision they made for the model?

I thought all Class 20s had at least a vac brake option, but then I am not a train guy and so very happy to be corrected by someone who knows more.

True to life, the VAC functionality was removed as part of the /3 subclass refit (DRS, not to be confused with the BR era /3s made for aggregate trains). Simply put, by the time DRS did the refit it was the privatised era in the late 90s and vacuum braked stock was pretty much entirely gone, certainly none of the nuclear wagons they were originally set up to use were vacuum, so it was just uneccessary. Removing it likely saved them the cost of having to maintain it, similar to XC fusing the 221's tilt in more recent times.

I have a question about the Class 20/3.

Since it has a change end switch, I would like to know which of these two desks is desk 1 / desk 2?

I believe desk 1 will be the nose end, since this is still the desk which has the master key.

The last thing I will say about the DRS Class 20 for a while is I think there is something wrong with the lighting and there is hopefully something wrong with the textures. I don't know if there are a bunch of textures missing like the fire extinguisher or if everything is supposed to look that flat, but when you combine that with the weird "no ambient occlusion?" that is going on all over the place... Everything looks off.
