The 314 is similar to the 313 but the 314 has a pantograph so I wouldn't say it's a "new train." It's a 313 with a pantograph. Hence why some were asking for a class 380 or 385. A class 380 would fit into the time period and give the route a old and modern feeling with the Class 314 being the older train and the 380 being the more modern train. It would give different types of gameplay. I wouldn't say asking for new trains is greddy. DTG in the past have made different trains for routes. NTP is a prime example of that.

What I really wonder is why dtg decided to pick this route. I've seen requests for popular Scottish routes such as the Fife Circle Line, but not this route. Glasgow Central will effectively look like a ghost town without other lines that would otherwise make it busier although dtg are known of making major stations not be busy as they otherwise would be in reality. Penn Station, Munchen HBF are examples of that. I think what would've been better is if dtg made a mainline route that terminated at this station and then perhaps added this line as sort of a branch line.

I really do question DTG's logic at times. Perhaps they should start listening to the community more and make routes most people actually ask for instead of making random things that not many asked for.

I am not sure if I should get this route now. I could wait for a sale tbh although they are not frequent on Xbox

We've already got an empty Penn Station, an empty München Hbf and an empty Marseille Station. That's how they do it.

I watched some RL videos of the route and I think it has some interesting scenery. I understand that making the route + 314 is probably OK considering the build cost and sell price, but the station will feel empty. So what I would like is the option to buy more DLC rolling stock and pay for it.

Ohh. That subway line that runs in a circle. I am not sure if I would even get that route if it was made. It's quite a short line

But well within DTG range... The "Cathcart Circle" just about sums this sim up. A forgetful venture you wouldn't dare travel on, unless you live there.

To answer the OP question, My suggestion of a "Cathcart Time period" is..not ever.

But the new Trains don’t need a Driver anymore, because it’s full automatic.
    I mean the Stadler Subway.

GUYS, remember they said that they were only announcing the 314 at the start, and maybe more later. Bear that in mind

They may be wanting to keep it a secret/surprise for the preview/launch. I personally would do that.

Personally, I am doubtful, though there is little point in making assumptions one way or another when we simply don't know.

I highly doubt that. It's already in the testing phase. I wonder what will be the reason why dtg didn't include a new train

I perhaps should've included this map from Wikipedia. I've already posted these but no real harm in posting them again. The above is the mileage for the circle and branches.

Seriously? Have you seen the German routes? Everything is modern electric and at least 90% is red! At least the UK has lots of colour on it's railways and a good mix of electric and diesel. SEHS came with freight and loco hauled layers, East Coastway came with freight. The only one that hasn't was Bakerloo and that's because it's a subway line. I assume Cathcart won't have any freight but London-Brighton should.

Cathcart I suspect won't have any freight for the exact same reason why Bakerloo has no freight - none runs there bar RHTT trains.

Matt mentioned freight on BML in the Rush Hour stream so it'll be on the table.

So does this route include only part or all of the route shown in this map?

I'm still in disbelief that the Cathcart Circle warrants a separate DLC to be honest, unless it allows devs to understand more UE engine voodoo?
Can't wait for the visuals...The shimmer of silver needles and green glimpses of broken Buckfast bottles.

Hardly anyone buys loco DLC so for many it is a new train and even if you say the 314 is the same as a 313, which it essentially is, they will be different colours and that’s all that counts! Nobody has either of them yet, so both are new trains to TSW, and only the few people who buy the 313 first will be getting a repeat experience. Knowing that there is a similar train in two DLC coming out fairly close together gives the player the choice of which one to regard as new and which to regard as the copy and paste, they’ve gone and done it again, repeated rolling stock DTG special. They have essentially given the player the choice of which train to get upset about. One of the clones, the 314, does come with a whole route included, so I’m counting that as the daddy and the 313 as the clone, even if it comes out first. I might get both eventually because they are British trains, but I’ll more than likely get the Cathcart Circle route DLC first. There will probably be a loco DLC for this at some point with one of the other trains that people want to see, and getting that will make them happy, for a small extra fee.

Exactly, I won't buy the Class 313 just because Cantcharth circle is so close to release as well, but I can consider it if I can get a decent discount or if I want to go back to ECW one day, but right now there are too many interesting upcoming DLCs for me to buy the 313, even if I love ECW, and the Seaford branch in particular (I actually don't like the Eastburne part a lot).

I might be beating a dead donkey by this point but with senario planner and off the rails mode(depending on what other dlc you have and whatever this routes longest platform is).You could clearly add other trains to play with until something officially gets added.

No. Scenario Planner is not a substitution to having the trains in timetable mode.

It's a nice gimmick to do funky things, one off runs or unrealistic things, that's it.

See I’ll be buying the 313 over Cathcart, ECW will be getting an update with the 313 for PIS etc, and it’ll have more traffic and Brighton won’t look deserted unlike Glasgow.

Unless Cathcart has another piece of rolling stock on it I’ll definitely not be buying that until it’s got a decent sale on it, and since routes get better discounts than loco DLCs you’d probably save more money doing it that way.

I think many will buy either one or the other. You decided the 313, I prefer a whole new route (I played ECW a lot in TSW2020), and besides Cathcart should (hopefully) be at least as good as the updated ECW - keep in mind the update to ECW is free, not tied to the Class 313 DLC :)

About new traffic... I think the 313 will only sub the 377 for already existing Seaford services.

Yeah I meant more traffic as in ECW will have the 377/313 services, freight and Railtour, as opposed to just 3/4 314’s chugging about an otherwise very busy area.

Well the word not trains it train because it's currently alone. There nothing wrong with senario planner or off the rails mode,it clearly been shown by many that alot of players have been very creative with it's inclusion in tsw2.But you can think what you want about it.I appreciate it because up till now only pc players could put trains on other routes console never could.

As I said "It's a nice gimmick to do funky things, one off runs or unrealistic things, that's it." But having one scenario to use, for example the BR101 in HMA is not the same as actually adding a layer to the timetable.

Also it's useless to do anything which is not "go from A to B", which means no turn arounds, no shunting, you can't ever edit the arrival and departure time for the stations the AI stops at!

I had some fun using it, but it's extremely limited unless you mod it to be more flexible (PC only).

Glasgow station looks like a very large terminal with alot of platforms(with alot of tracks under a very large roof)to just support one type of train.

Wiki info shows this station handles 30+million passengers a year,i dought they all ride the class 314 only.

I'll probably get both as well as I do want a new route to drive and East Coastway is crying out for more variety so I'll have to get the 313.
As far as I'm aware, the 314s ran as a mixture of 3 and 6 cars when in service.

    Things I’m expecting:

    - Glasgow Central station asset recycled from TS1.
    - Concourse not fully accessible and/or modelled.
    - Only specific lines and platforms in use at Glasgow Central.
    - Platform clutter only placed on platforms which can be used in game.
    - Scenario planner only offering the ‘same’ use of lines and platforms as per service mode.

I can’t say I’ve got much hope for this DLC to be honest with you.
