Hate to be that guy, but this is absolutely incorrect. All class 37s have the same type DC traction motors that they had when originally built. The confusion has probably arisen from the fact that non-refurb members of the class have DC generators to produce traction current, while refurbished locos have AC alternators and rectifiers to provide DC for the traction motors.
