Ok. So. Sounds are good. My only concern is that there is no bus for the reverser being in forward/backwards or any sort of electrical buzz. All we can hear is the traction motors which are basically the same as the 700 we have in TSW. Bit disappointed so far. Hopefully the preview stream will be better
Damm the timetable is good! The interior is good but the floor looks off and everything looks to plasticy and polished. Also the lights are too bright.
Looks unbelievable. I think the Motor sounds are fine. Some comments on YouTube complaining about “why does it sound like a 700”… Well of course it will. It’s a desiro. The train looks great. Still need to hear the sounds as it picks up some speed.
What you hear as a passenger is drivers don’t hear in the cab because a lot of equipment is behind the cab.
Only problem I really have is the ai services being for Prestwick town rather than Ayr, services only terminated at Prestwick for around 9 months. The sounds are fine imo as they were actually sourced from a 350, which sounds pretty much identical to the 380
I think the sounds that are there are good enough, just that the typical acceleration sound cuts off too early, and doesn't have the secondary sound that usually follows it. The exterior is perfect and the interior - despite TSW's lack of shadows inside - looks really good, too. Cab looks quite well-detailed, as well. GC is exactly what it should be - busy and then some. Nice preview of the 158 and our Railtour for the new timetable. Looks solid enough, so far.
Only problem I have so far is the A.I saying Prestwick instead of Ayr and there not being any sort of buzz for the electrical equipment. Apart from that, looks good! Loving the exterior!!
Looking forward to the 380 and 158 releasing and the Cathcart update look forward to the preview stream tonight
it looks awesome; the time lapse video of Glasgow Central in the morning really shows how dense and varied the traffic is (AI and timetable).. really looking forward to it, just hope the 158 is released on the same day as the 380, given we've seen screenshots of it now... expect a week or so aprt though sadly
Sick of this excuse. No! The answer is NO! Literally any train can be put on any route using scenario planner or in free roam, this is not an excuse for the devs to not even bother putting it on the timetable properly!!!
Damn, i don't think this was said clear enough, had to read all the way to the bottom of the (unusually long) article to find this out, sucks but makes sense i guess.
Perhaps the timetable was made when trains were not calling at Ayr and terminating at prestwick so could be using that timetable as when Ayr was not being served was when this was getting developed.
Only problem I noticed with the sounds is the buzz when putting the reverser into forward is missing, other than that it sounds nice
The only purpose the 380 would serve on either of the Edinburgh routes - beyond pre-385 scenarios - would be Haymarket <-> Edinburgh (on other lines) and AI at Edinburgh. Being prototypical, that is. If Skyhook have made a seperate 158 timetable for FCL then I'd imagine they'd be looking towards a 380 remaster. EDN - I doubt.
Micro rant incoming: The amount of people in the YT comment section complaining that the 380 sounds like the 700 is kinda shocking, you’d expect people to do at least a little research before commenting but no.
Ah, a classic case of 'lemmingism'...I tend to see that often on YouBoob (and other social media platforms). Seriously thinking of going back to a flip phone lol.
Look, if it doesn't go on those routes in real life (a quick Google search says it doesn't) then it shouldn't be there in TSW. Plain and simple. No point arguing about it.
True. They should simulate Dunbar and North Berwick services. Apart from that though they are rare to see
Ok so if the Class 380 were ever to be layered onto Scotrail Express it should be based on the post July 2018 transitionary period where Class 385's were coming into service and Class 380's were still running on that line.
Took this photo in 2014 when they operated to North Berwick. I'm not getting involved in either side of the discussion on whether they should be layered in, but historically they have been there many times.
They occasionally do the Edinburgh to Glasgow Central but doesn’t really add gameplay to ScotRail express as branches off just after Haymarket. However I’d definitely be a fan of layering even as AI only to populate Waverley/Haymarket. But that’s down to rivet to sort really……and they could do with sorting other issues on both routes first.
Based on this I take it you see no use in AI, and would rather only drivable services are available? Yes, it does.
Having read the comprehensive article about the timetable it looks like they have outdone themselves breathing life into Glasgow Central, such a good use of all the different ScotRail rolling stock to fill the station with AI services. It's good to see DTG using a bit of artistic licence to fill out the timetable, with the existing 314 subbing in for the 318 and 320 services - it would have been a bit weird if the new timetable didn't include the existing route's rolling stock - and Skyhook's upcoming 158 subbing in for the 156 services. Here's hoping we don't have long to wait for the 158, so we can enjoy the complete experience.
i was thinking the same and just commented as well in another thread it is great to see the AI trains using occupied platforms with trains already in them and the calling on shunts being used. Now if only we had a class 156 as well to really bring central to life
Buzz is there but needs to be much lower and audio able throughout every carriage outside the train Door sounds need to be louder (not the alarms, the actual sounds of the doors opening/closing) Apart from that it's brilliant! Very very happy with it!
Quite impressed. Motors are really good, whether they’re authentic or not they’ve done a much better job with it than the 700. Model is really good and the TMS I has had some nice effort put into it. Although the interior could do with some weathering, especially the cab. Some sounds I think are too quite though, doors being an example.
The 380 looks very well modelled to me, I love the retracting gangway, very nice feature and they have done a good job implementing it. It sounds like a Desiro, I have only really heard a class 350 and 450, so I assume the sounds are accurate. The route looks so much better with this lighting, good the see the inky black cuttings have gone, even in the middle of a sunny summers day some of the cuttings were like early morning in March. It is good to see Glasgow Central looking so much busier. This route which was a favourite is going to be one of the best as far as I am concerned.
I was just thinking the same this is just incredible full marks to DTG on this. I am all for these types of upgrades to older routes. I honestly would rather they went back to the older routes updated them like GCC and gave us extra services like the 380 etc.
Yes it would be good to see all the old routes upgraded eventually. My top choices would be BML, NTP, ECW, SKA and now Hamburg Lubeck now the 218 has come out. BML seems to suffer more from being too dark, more than the others, although that might just be my impression.
Looks really good, looking forward to this one. One minor thing, the boards at the end of the carriages are blank, any plans to add the ScotRail map and posters?
I think the only time carriage maps have ever been included is on the 1972 stock, posters can sometimes be included but maps aren’t for some reason
